What I didnt like so much about the casters is the way they dismissed Dear in hyping sOs as the best protoss in the world. sOs is clearly the hot shit right now, but dear went on a ridiculous streak - sure he was going to lose at some point, but I would consider him still the best protoss in the world right now.

I don't know how one can say JD lost by bad luck.. there were clear mistakes by him each time.
On polar night, he scouted 1 gas and saw the warp prism very early on with the ling at watch tower, it was pretty obvious that a zealot/immortal push was highly likely.
Then on the last map, the probe that built the pylon for the early phx/zealot harass which killed 10 drones, which gave sOs a lead only happened because JD's 2 zerglings at the front were on hold position and just let it walk right by. And this was already after sOs had out mind gamed JD with his nexus first econ build compared to pool first.

Please never come into an LR thread again I'm hosting a barcraft and it was dead silent in here because no one cares about sOs. I honestly liked his play - it was neat, and some new strats I never expected to see (hidden expansion in a finals, say WHAT!?). But his story is 0. His story isn't 0, but you might be. He says he liked his play but couldn't care? I thought there was a correlation to enjoying someone's play that's entertaining and caring. He's done that strat before several times. I'm amazed Jaedong didn't try to take a base there, lol. I can tell these guys never followed PL or else they would know. They also know a lot of the current players who play protoss are borrowing several pages from this guy and that is why I declare him, THE INNOVATOR OF PROTOSS VIOLENCE. We can go down the line with HerO's warp prism play, PartinG's Soul Build, MC's wraith, etc. Anyway, I'm getting used to it. People in Toronto went crazy for Soulkey as well (lots of zerg fans) and Dear had a very small army. I'm glad all my boys are doing well. I'm a fan of Jaedong, Soulkey, Dear, sHy, etc. In fact, there are very few players I don't like. If they cannot get excited because a player is entertaining them then I don't know what else to say, lol.
I'm speaking for the foreign, newish viewer community - not myself. I'm sitting in a bar with a few hardcore fans, and a bunch of new fans, everyone with busted brackets (except one guy that's never watched SC2 before - he randomly picked sOs, and wins $150).
I'm not personally a fan of Jaedong. But look at what he represents for the community! A massive foreign fan favorite that's a Korean BW pro! He's awesome! He even has a really neat story arc! He gets foreigners (that aren't 8 year seasoned BW snobs) to root for Koreans!

How can you argue that sOs is in any way a fan favorite!? He's maybe top 100 in terms of name recognition. It's fucking boring if the same players are constantly placing high and winning every tournament. New fan favorites need to emerge for things to stay interesting. Just because he doesn't have a big fanbase now doesn't mean he never will, and it doesn't mean you should make 100 posts in this thread whining about how he's killing esports by not throwing the finals. I watched every single match of WCS NA and EU this year. But the players with the most of each of the three items I mentioned simply keep not winning. What's the biggest rivalry in SC2? It's not IdrA vs MMA anymore. TL vs EG? They're besties now. When was the last Dynasty? Mvp? Everyone loves jurgen. Lost in RO16. Who was the biggest underdog story? NaNiwa, out in ro16. I'm not hating on sOs, I'm really not. He just doesn't do anything to grow the community. Try explaining him to a new viewer - you can't. He's not the "new best zerg". He's not the "new best terran". He's not the aggressive Korean Protoss who learned English and has cool ceremonies. He's just some gamer.
Are you kidding me ? He just created a new build ( or you could say follow-up after the cannon rush) against Zerg in BLIZZCON FINALS AGAINST JD, he is the most inventive protoss and you could even strech that and say that he is the most inventive player nowadays
sOs is growing the community, he is among the players that make this game look less and less stagnat showing other players that you can go out, do some stuff... not just the same thing we all see every game in Protoss
Its people like you that make Sc2 community dont grow, if we can accept new players, and specially players that do things that others doesnt do, we could be in a whole other league, hell SC2 could be in a different place all together
People forget that JD, MVP, DRG, MMA, etc... were once those that "doesnt do anything to grow the community"

That was also terrible as they pretty much cut off SKT's big moment for the analyst desk.
Yeah. Both tournaments dropped the post game ball.
I know viewer numbers drop enormously, but seriously most grand finals in other things easily go for like another hour after the final bell. E-sports has like ADD and can't stand the thought of not staring at the game for more than 5 minutes.

I'd say there's too many warnings and not enough 2-days. Warnings don't seem to sink in, and they don't seem like they deter others from doing the same.
Plus it lets the same people keep posting.

Where are those Naniwa fans that tell that if player dies to his all-in (whichever one) he is greedy and Naniwa is fine here. And well, you cannot really win in any other way when your opponent dominates the game and decides to afk for 10 minutes.

Maybe he didn't win them, but that's still pretty fucking incredible eh?
EDIT: News check for JD fans, he's fine. he's not slumping. just keep having faith, he'll win titles
Sounds like stork. Next week Jaedong discovers he loves attack on titan and read it all. Then he picks up the new WoW expansion.

It was the way sos used the soul train, 2 cannon rushes. proxy first with a hidden third. He was going to throw the kitchen sink, but he had no creative plays for himself IMO that would be respected by the community

Sounds like the top BW zerg have come to reclaim their places.

You make some very good points, even if most people in this thread disagree...but too much negativity wont help us either, to some extent you gotta accept SC2's problems.

Anybody who saw Jaedong beat Maru on frost should know who was actually the best in skill on the day. sOs played really well too, but a huge part of the finals result was also jaedong's bad luck. i also disagree that he choked Strategy is part of skill. sOs makes better decisions, JD just has mechanics and reacts well. I hate sOs winning but his strats seemed tailor-made for each map in PvZ. I agree that his strats were good, but there's still a big chance factor involved with things like cannon rushing and, in the final game, whether a proxy pylon gets scouted or not. I certainly wouldn't say Jaedong had bad strats.

What a bad final. Not even the games but the time after that. Just cut of the stream and thats all? Nothing more? Weird...
