I'm happy to see him win a big thing. He's been one of the most consistently good players this year. I thought it was Soulkey because he was the first to hit GM among the Kespa players. Maybe I'm just confusing the WJS players since I didn't know them too well back then.
Ah right forgot Soulkey did that.
I just remember in the anonymous Gom matches Shy was doing really well.

sOs is a good player, i think that Jaedong is better. sOs made 5 bets, some likely some unlikely, got 4 of them.
And the first game was a joke tbh.

In BW, "hard skill" like micro and macro are all that matters. Hence a good player will be good throughout his career. SC2, on the other hand, somewhat focuses on "soft skill" like mind-game and building hard counter armies, which is much more dicey. So a legendary player in SC2 will not stay in legend for long. "Mind-games" also include a lot of luck (he thinks that i think that he thinks etc.), SOS got lucky, but his wins didnt entirely rely on luck, he is a really good player aswell. It could have also gone the other way round. In broodwar, zergs could cheeze, Terrans could bunker rush and Protoss had the ability to do cannon rushes too. SoS was going to fight with everything he had. Cheeze and all

Please never come into an LR thread again I'm hosting a barcraft and it was dead silent in here because no one cares about sOs. I honestly liked his play - it was neat, and some new strats I never expected to see (hidden expansion in a finals, say WHAT!?). But his story is 0. yall are a bunch of lame haters then. but you're probaby sitting home alone spreading hate on the internet anyways. I'm not hating! How can you argue that sOs is in any way a fan favorite!? He's maybe top 100 in terms of name recognition. It's fucking boring if the same players are constantly placing high and winning every tournament. New fan favorites need to emerge for things to stay interesting. Just because he doesn't have a big fanbase now doesn't mean he never will, and it doesn't mean you should make 100 posts in this thread whining about how he's killing esports by not throwing the finals. There are several factors that produce increased fanfare in sports. Chief among them are Dynasties, Rivalries, and Underdogs. i dno, what about skill and winning-ness

what i don't understand is this:
Jaedong is now the MOST CONSISTENT PLAYER OF 2013. Getting to FIVE FUCKING FINALS IN A YEAR.
Maybe he didn't win them, but that's still pretty fucking incredible eh?
EDIT: News check for JD fans, he's fine. he's not slumping. just keep having faith, he'll win titles

What they really want a SC2 pro scene to be? A place where the most talented, clever and hard working people win? Or a place with big stories, epic games and cleverly staged games like professional wrestling, where fan favorites usually win.
All these talks about sOs having no personality, cheesing and not deserving just made me to throw up on my keyboard. BRB, gotta come cleanup to do. think about which one is more sustainable. At the end of the day, this is another form of entertainment. If people are not entertained, the scene will slowly deteriorate. Now, you can argue what's more entertaining to most people. Hard working people or charismatic people? Or why can't we have both? So WWE is more sustainable than UFC? Many sports have been putting more emphasis on showing personality and interest stories to attract people further. No reason why that's not possible with sc2 players. (Like JD learning to say "the tyrant is coming".) I think sOs showed a lot of personality as he jumped to get his trophy.
It's like people think sOs is Jon Fitch or something

He says he liked his play but couldn't care? I thought there was a correlation to enjoying someone's play that's entertaining and caring. He's done that strat before several times. I'm amazed Jaedong didn't try to take a base there, lol. I can tell these guys never followed PL or else they would know. They also know a lot of the current players who play protoss are borrowing several pages from this guy and that is why I declare him, THE INNOVATOR OF PROTOSS VIOLENCE. We can go down the line with HerO's warp prism play, PartinG's Soul Build, MC's wraith, etc. Anyway, I'm getting used to it. People in Toronto went crazy for Soulkey as well (lots of zerg fans) and Dear had a very small army. I'm glad all my boys are doing well. I'm a fan of Jaedong, Soulkey, Dear, sHy, etc. In fact, there are very few players I don't like. If they cannot get excited because a player is entertaining them then I don't know what else to say, lol.

I really think that SC2 production has been somewhat stale for a long time, with only the ESL crew really pushing for some new stuff.
As an overall "broadcast" experience I thought they could have done a lot more... :/
Might just be because you do not follow SC2 that much. I don't really follow MOBAs, but tried to tune in some to TI3 because friends were raving about it. I found the casting... awkward and the production to be solid, but not amazing. If I knew more about MOBAs / followed the scene more closely I might feel different.
I think the production for this was spot on except for the super awkward ending. I just happened that the semi-finals (IMO) involved much better games than the finals.

If you guys just want the fan favorites to win, imagine how boring SC2 would be. Imagine a world where every single tournament and game was won by the player favored to win, with no possibility of comeback or upsets. Now, how is that anything but predictable and boring. And if you guys constantly expect charismatic and fun players over "faceless" and supposedly dull players, SC2 just becomes WWE and the people who poured their hearts and souls into practice and studying the game are overshadowed by people who can speak English better or have funnier costumes. Just no. SC2 should be a celebration of skill and talent just as much as it is a scene of entertainment and fun, and if you feel a "faceless" player doesn't deserve a championship, you can just turn off the stream and not bleed your negativity into the LR thread.

MonteCristo@ggCMonteCristo 4 mins Did you want closing comments on SC2’s biggest tourney from SC2’s best experts? Well, instead you get pan shots of an emptying con hall.
he knows what;s up

It seems that, second to hating on sOs, generalizing and hating on JD fans is the most common phenomenon in this thread as of now. There's salt from plenty of directions here.
GG.

can we just start warning anyone who baits the "faceless" argument
it's literally the same thing every time, it devolves into people repeating how it's just "their opinion" that a player is "uninteresting" as an excuse to shit up threads for pages and pages and pages
i have absolutely no problem with a person making one post to say "meh, not a fan of this guy, don't know much about him, would have preferred jaedong," but it's hard to deny that there's a recurring pattern of people who just come in and do this all the time to bait out arguments about who's enough of a special korean snowflake to deserve tournament wins

Sure congrats to sOs. Fuck you and your fake congrats you don't even mean it you just say it to defend yourself. Fuck you and your sc2 is dying. Fuck you and your 'faceless korean' shit. You guys think that the vod (potentially recorded) or POV cam of Jaedong's match with Dear, possibly could have done him in? sOs really had Jaedong's number that match.
