Jaedong fans posted sheep when JD won, like when MVP fans posts the kaboom picture. Then antifans posted dead sheeps pictures. Finally, mods got angry with all of that and warned everyone (except the privileged members) who posted sheeps

What they really want a SC2 pro scene to be? A place where the most talented, clever and hard working people win? Or a place with big stories, epic games and cleverly staged games like professional wrestling, where fan favorites usually win.
All these talks about sOs having no personality, cheesing and not deserving just made me to throw up on my keyboard. BRB, gotta come cleanup to do. judging from the people in this thread, they want wrestling. it's unbelievable how people will actually "get hyped" for a tournament and then literally become angry if they don't like who wins. the point of the tournament is for every single player to show up and bring his chops. the person who should win is the person who wins. why else watch tournaments? are we babies who need to be spoonfed "nice" games?
Oh come on, this happens in every sport. People cheer for who they want to cheer for, that's what makes sport the thing it is. There's teams/players you like, and teams/players you don't feel that much for. Of course people don't like it when their favourite team/player loses, but a little raging in LR is NOTHING compared to what happens when some team loses in football sometimes.
If Jaedong had won 4-1 right now, many people would be smiling and thinking back at this year for him, sticking by his side each and every time and finally being validated for cheering their hardest for him every final. Now they see his opponent lifting that trophy and yet again have to wait for a next time, of course they're not going to be happy right now.
Like it or not, taking away the identity of the players and just watching the play itself without nametags would make stuff a lot less emotional and epic. The most talented, clever and hard working people win anyway, and it was clear that yet again the fan favourite didn't win today. Looking back at the premier tournaments this year, I've never felt that the player losing the finals was the better player in that series. If a sport, or anything for that matter, matures enough and people start to care a lot, then a lot of emotions will be involved as well. We will never be professional wrestling because in the end all the players will always play to win, but we will have people full of passion doing everything they can to support their favourite players. And denying people from getting excited, either positively or negatively, is what kills more e-sports than any player winning or losing.

my heart breaks for Jaedong t.t such a good tournament run but no dice in the finals again props to sOs for pulling out some insane strats and mindgames though

JaeDong must be crushed, this is like his 5th second place in a row. Feel bad for him, hopefully he wins something soon, I love the Dong.

Call me an obnoxious piece of shit, but I feel fucking shitty when a protoss other than Hero wins a championship. Jaedong should've have won this T.T

It's fucking boring if the same players are constantly placing high and winning every tournament. New fan favorites need to emerge for things to stay interesting. Just because he doesn't have a big fanbase now doesn't mean he never will, and it doesn't mean you should make 100 posts in this thread whining about how he's killing esports by not throwing the finals. There are several factors that produce increased fanfare in sports. Chief among them are Dynasties, Rivalries, and Underdogs. He's just some gamer.
the underdog outplayed the fan favorite bw veteran. is that not good enough for you?

Remember when Fionn predicted sOs to be the first KeSPA player to win a GSL? only reason it took him so long to win a tournament

I'm happy to see him win a big thing. He's been one of the most consistently good players this year. I thought it was soulkey that first got attention in SC2 since he was reportedly the first to make GM. Oh yeah, I forgot about that. But sHy did that showmatch against ESF players where they didn't reveal the players and won I only remember reports coming out of the startale house that ace got bullied over losing to shy. Well ace lost to the future world champion so it wasn't so bad.

Maybe I'm just confusing the WJS players since I didn't know them too well back then. Yeah, Soulkey it was. Granted, he was still a choker, so that's did not matter. sOs was the almost-MVP-of-SC2 part of APL.

That's what I remember as well. He was hyped to win that MLG Invitational in 2012, but then he got owned by Flash 2-0.

In what world is sOs the "best new protoss"? Dear held that title coming into this tourney.

In BW, "hard skill" like micro and macro are all that matters. Hence a good player will be good throughout his career. SC2, on the other hand, somewhat focuses on "soft skill" like mind-game and building hard counter armies, which is much more dicey. So a legendary player in SC2 will not stay in legend for long. I believe Jaedong had a remarkable year in 2013 in sc2. five 2nd place finishes is insane.

Best player won. Great games from sOs, good to see that he got past his nerves and hopefully this will give him confidence to fulfil his huge potential!

I mean, coming back in game 1 was awesome, I had it called for JD when sOs was at half JDs supply, but the rest of the games, I think JD was not playing his absolute best as he was against Dear.
Anyway, so stocked that we got a protoss champion at Blizzcon! So few protoss champions lately, except for Dears' recent wins. JD didn't play his best because sOs didn't let him. sOs set the pace for the series
