Dear held that title coming into this tourney.
In the world where sOs won fucking Blizzcon. That is, the actual world we're living in.

Well deserved win by sOs, amazing games, gratz to him!
Seeing him being so happy about this, how can anyone still call that guy faceless? Maybe there's not the big 'storyline' around sOs, but at least there's a bit (as seen in the great 'road to Blizzcon' articles), and now he's the world champion, that's a story, right? And how in the world is this a reason for so much hate?
However, it was a great event!

That was also terrible as they pretty much cut off SKT's big moment for the analyst desk.

In BW, "hard skill" like micro and macro are all that matters. Hence a good player will be good throughout his career. SC2, on the other hand, somewhat focuses on "soft skill" like mind-game and building hard counter armies, which is much more dicey. So a legendary player in SC2 will not stay in legend for long. I don't get it. Both of the players were BW players.
I'm talking about the game design, not the players.

I mean, coming back in game 1 was awesome, I had it called for JD when sOs was at half JDs supply, but the rest of the games, I think JD was not playing his absolute best as he was against Dear.
Anyway, so stocked that we got a protoss champion at Blizzcon! So few protoss champions lately, except for Dears' recent wins.
sOs was outright dominant, completely dictated play the entire time, made JD scramble and continually punished him for any small mistakes that he made. He piled so much pressure on, both with the obvious cannon-rush mind-games, the phoenix pressure into decisive tech transitions and just constant zealot run-bys. The only map that he looked like he was getting smashed on, Akilon, he turned around completely with a decisive push which threw JD into massive indecision.
I was cheering hard for JD, but man sOs outplayed him. Those Phoenix/Zealot pushes were scary as hell, and JD had no idea what was an appropriate reaction when he saw phoenix's out.

Congrats to sOs, great performance.

I'm happy to see him win a big thing. He's been one of the most consistently good players this year. I thought it was Soulkey because he was the first to hit GM among the Kespa players. Maybe I'm just confusing the WJS players since I didn't know them too well back then. Ah right forgot Soulkey did that. I just remember in the anonymous Gom matches Shy was doing really well. Yeah sOs beat MarineKing and Ace when they were just switching to SC2.

Beautiful play by sOs...
Even though Jaedong was the fan favorite...sOs played sooo much better than him...the cannon rush success was due to Jaedong being greedy...the game on akilon sOs made 0 mistakes...Jaedong made 10 or more...the game on polar night jaedong was a nonce who couldnt see past his own droning...and the game on Frost again Jaedong made too many mistakes...
Even though Jaedong is mechanically much stronger than sOs - the Protoss showed that mindgames if executed well...are more powerful...
Intelligence over muscle...

Micro doesn't matter in SC2, just cheese cannon rush and then clump up hard counter units as P. Glad I've never been an SC2 fan.

Can't say I'm not disapointed but I can't denie that sOs's mindgames and well thought out style really caught JD off guard a few times to many during the course of the games.
Congrats to sOs!

Had JD won the finals they'd have probably gone on for another hour and get the president in there to put in some touching words. Too bad it was sOs so they had to cut it off quickly since they had nothing prepared to say about that...
I am not a huge fan of the way sOs plays but he did what he had to do to win, so you JD d*ck riders should at least show some respect. It's not that bad that JD got 2nd again, it will make his fist big champion title even more dramatic when it does come.

I'm honestly depressed now. Like physically and mentally fucking depressed after watching that. I want to curl up in a warm blanket and do heroin... Why couldn't Jaedong just win? He's worked so hard...

Gotta agree! None of the players who beat him in the finals have enjoyed nearly as much success as he has this year
