GSL is still ongoing and so is WCS. In theory, it doesn't get more major than that.

True, but I meant like the next offline weekend event'ish.

lol?

he is right, nothing to lol here

Really? He had a REALLY easy road to the finals.

All foreigners to the R08 and then someone with incredibly shit ZvP.

REALLY?? REALLY? you're one of those guys.

Most moronic comment of the post. Check his groups and his run. Beating all those opponents and driving Leenock to the final game. Solid play throughout. Out playing Leenock in both the games he won. REALLY EASY. Fuck off. You have no idea about starcraft,

Dude calm down. I know he beat Yugioh and MC so obviously he had to play well to get to this point. You can't deny though he can a far easier run then Leenock for example. Saying that he is clearly the best foreigner right now is just dumb. Lucifron got coin flipped out. Stephano had to play his worst matchup vs a top Korean. Vortix and Scarlett weren't even here. There is no reason to say Naniwa is undisputedly the best foreigner.

coca is not a top korean lol he lost horribly in the code a qualifiers and just returned from league of legends

He played well from what I saw and he no doubt has a ton of talent. Can we seriously say Naniwa is the best foreigner from this tournament. We can't even say he is better then Sase.

Sase got eliminated by Hyun who Naniwa also lost to. Naniwa actually came in second in both of his groups and then had a easy (comparably) RO16 to the finals. Impressive but not good enough to prove he is even top 5 foreigner

Maybe one was harder than the other. Huk on the same bracket side as Naniwa but he got eliminated several stages before. Guess he wouldnt make in to the top 15 foreigners. Im pretty sure Naniwa would even be a top 3 foreigner along side Stephano and someone else. Sase perhaps ?

Leenock did not get "bounced" he just sucked with his build order choices, everyone's entitled to a shit day.

So good that a shit day consists of beating Life in the process.

Okay, but how does winning this tournament prove he's better than Life? Or any of the other top Korean zergs who weren't in attendance?

Who's saying he's better? o-O

Leenock and Life have proven themselves time and time again as being top level zerg artists. Have you seen Leenock's playbook (he actually keeps a diary)? Leenock is a top level Zerg man wth man. Are you trying to say he isn't? Frig these guys even go back and forth when they play one another.

The guy who said "Leenock is prob the best Zerg on the planet"? I quoted him, it shouldn't be very hard to find.

All in all, Leenock played really well. But those damn spine walls, I will be ranting and fuming for days over it.
Nevermind the fact that Leenock lost 40lings and by the time Nani walked up the ramp and to the other side of the spine wall there was another 40

It's just sadly how the matchup works in SC2.

If Protoss isn't trying to win with one big attack that is all or nothing, then... actually there isn't really much of an alternative to how Protoss works.

Protoss strong with all ins and early game shenanigans. Zerg (against P) wins by defending against said all ins and early game shenanigans.

Protoss matchups are kind of unfun because most of it just consists of winning with just one big attack (and that means Zerg just needs to invest into defending that one attack to win).

Bring back Reavers (and Mutalisk with similar control from BW) !

Fanboys, anyone who says someone is the best anything is usually fanboying unless it is an era of clear dominance like Flash/JD/others had. MVP had an era like that as well. I don't think anyone would say the same for Leenock.

If I was a fanboy I'd be agreeing with the nugget in the last few pages who was calling for Terran buffs.
Sorry for appreciating world class play and all that even if they don't play my race, must be biased in the future.

Edit: I wasn't saying he was better, I was just going by the persons logic by that because he lost in ro32 he must be irrelevant to the zergs who advanced.

Agreed. Both of 'em play amazingly well and deserve the credit they get. No need to argue who's ultimately better than the other, especially when they don't play in the same tournament.

This is what I have been saying. Neo Planet S and Whirlwind are really tough. Akilon isn't so bad if you do a decent 3 base all-in, but I don't see Toss every doing what Leenock did and take 5-7 bases on that map.

Just remembered this tournament pushed Leenock over 200k winnings, he is the 6th player to earn over $200,000 from Starcraft 2 tournaments. He also passed DRG for now but they're very close.

THis! You always think it can't get better.. but then the next one is!

Not really. Lack of Bo5s was quite disappointing... They had enough downtime too, imo. Still it was quite good especially with Naniwa doing so well.

Well might be because my memory is quite bad, can't rememmber that much about last dreamhack well bo5 should have started in the semis atleast i guess, your right. for watching at home i personally don't mind a little downtime though, so i can do some other things and come back when the games start. + the DJ was amazing during downtime :D

For their regular events they do Bo3 until finals which are Bo5.

Last season's Winter finale was Bo5 from Ro12 to Ro4 with Bo7 finals.

Well if they expand to bo5 quarter/semis and bo7 finals for their regular events they would need an additional day probably, guess thats why they keep it shorter

There was quite a bit of idle time between games today, and with NASL they could have had another stream for longer (maybe up until the semis). Who knows what their reasons for the Bo3 decisions are, but "time" and "game coverage" don't seem very convincing.

Some Bo3's were awfully short. What if they went the full 3 games taking 40min a pop. Idle time is better than delay's for the organisers.

That's true. I still think they could have fit more Bo5 rounds in there with more games on NASL, but then again there's also the need for commercials and sponsor exposure (which was thankfully low-key, btw). It just feels that by going down the Bo3 route, they're not only devaluating the most interesting part of any tournament (the playoffs), but also making the Dreamhack event appear smaller than it actually is.

I saw that but notice the probably and good thing we don't look at results from one tournament alone? Same rule applies to NaNiwa. Stop grasping at straws.
