MOD NOTE: The bracket on Liquipedia is not final and should be assumed to be speculative. If you are a competitor, trust what MLG Admins tell you over the bracket. |

What a joke, MLG. You seriously stuffed this up.
Demu, I was rooting for you, you made a heroic effort, and I hope you've proven to yourself as much as anyone that you are a true global contender. Don't give up, you'll get your big win this year I'm sure of it. i am not like hating demu or something, but how is he a "true global contender" if he loses to every korean in his way? it was clear that koreans are going to play in this qualifier and it is open to everyone except some chinese players. I don't think that this one is mlg's fault it is only his level of skill that didn't qualify him for the na premier division. What an ignorant and uninformed post. Demuslim lost 2-1 to Oz and Revival, and beat Jaedong 2-0. He was 1 map away from qualifying, and by his performance against the koreans, it only further solidifies the fact that he is much much more deserving of a spot in the Premier league than a lot of the NA invitees. well, sorry that i missed the fact that liquipedia isn't updated yet. but i don't think it is ignorant by me. I still don't see mlgs fault here he is not north american, and he didn't show any magnificent results during the wcs 2012 series. Except he is North American? He either has (or is in the final stages of getting) a visa to live in the US permanently. He is not North American, having a visa doesn't change your nationality, just allows you to stay in that country for longer periods of time and allows you to work in that country. As far as US law goes, having a green card makes you an "American."
You used "American" instead of American, because there is a difference. Can he vote for American elections? Does he have an American passport? Can he join the military? No.
He is a British guy with a visa allowing him to stay there and work there. He didn't apply for citizenship, that I'm aware of.

What?!?!?! Did they show the Jaedong/Demuslim games? I was wanting to watch that so bad and couldn't find it anywhere. According to Liquipedia it still needed to be played so I was hoping to catch it whenever it was live. Are there vods anywhere I can watch? I was so hyped for that series and apparently I completely missed out.
Those were reported by checking players' profiles. MLG will stream them this week.

He could join the military, and he could be given to information restricted to U.S. persons. The only thing he couldn't do is vote.
EDIT: This is a dumb discussion because this tournament has nothing to do with nationality anyway.

The whole discussion is dumb. The only reason people are sad that DeMu didn't make it is because he's not korean, which I can understand, but it shouldn't matter as much as it does. I mean, how is this the trend of reactions we get when Revival is the ONLY zerg that went through the qualifiers...

You're probably seeing more of a regression to the mean of balance. Since it's pretty much agreed upon that zerg was far more overpowered in WOL than every other race, then zerg will be over-represented in tournaments which had qualifications based on WOL. This is one of those tournaments because the top Korean zergs were already in KR Code S.
When you look at the actual tournament, there were 4 KR zergs, 6 KR terrans, and 6 KR protosses. 3 of the 4 zergs were in the same loser's bracket. Unless you were actually expecting hendralisk to qualify, it's safe to say that the zergs were kinda underrepresented due to the WOL setup and just random tournament luck.

You're using pretend logic to make it sound how you want it to sound like. The KR zergs didn't die because they were in the same bracket, none of them died in the mirror match-up. Therefore your argument is invalid.
And anyway, my post wasn't about balance...

I don't post a lot, but I've followed the scene for a few years now. I'm posting today just to say I'm disgusted and pissed off at the way MLG are trying to milk the qualifier for more add revenue by withholding half the results from the SC2 community.
The qualifier is important and I'd been waiting for the results. I want to know which eight players have won the right to take part in the real tournament, alongside the 24 already given seeds. I know who half the qualifiers are now. Having to wait for a week's worth of poorly cast replays to air during prime time before I can learn the other four is complete bullshit.
I'll add my thanks to the people who maintain and update the brackets tracked through the liquipedia, which is how I plan on learning who made it through. I sure as hell won't be tuning in to MLG's stream.

You really have to wonder... it's great to theorize on ways to maximize revenue and what not, but seriously, who would think something like this is a good idea and that most people will be fine with? You can't even get mad over that. That's just fucking funny. I needed that laugh. MLG, increasing the humor level for the NA scene.

Not really. Due to bracket luck, the maximum number of zergs that could have advanced out of the loser's bracket was 2. JD was knocked down to the lower bracket in a mirror matchup, and Zenio and Revival were knocked down to the lower bracket by the same person. You can't really make any conclusions from that other than it was bizarre bracket luck.

Why in the hell Demuslim was not invited? I cannot understand the invites. Huk? Idra ? Goswser ? Why ?! What they are doing for deserve this? Demuslim proved he deserve this spot more than any foreigner this tournament, it's totally ridiculous.

CombatEX had to take a break from Starcraft 2 after WCG because of school. However, his school semester ends early May, so I expect him to be back within the next 1-2 weeks. It's a shame because I really wanted to see him compete in WCS NA!

There were 16 players invited that had to be American, so IdrA, HuK, Goswer were invited for those 16 spots. Then there were 8 invites for non-American players, they went to HerO, Polt, Ryung, Nestea, Violet, Moonglade, Sen and Snute.
HerO, Polt, Ryung, Nestea and Violet all did better than Demuslim; Moonglade and Sen didn't had a region for them, so they were seeded into NA; and Snute had somewhat better results than Demuslim, he got 1st in HSC6 while Demuslim never really break out, he is always on the verge of doing it.
