Not 100% but pretty sure the format was changed around end of 2011 where we had 20+ terrans in code S.

Correct, GSL November was the last GSL with the "old" format, and I think there were about 20 terrans in Code S.

really good defense by Soulkey but not taking an early third but instead going for Mutas and not being able to do any damage hurt him quite a bit.

The format was changed in GSL November 2011, season in which FruitDealer, jookTo, Check, HongUn, VINES and a bunch of other of those players dropped out completely. ^^
