Can anyone enlighten me? I keep seeing people arguing about them. No, you really don't need to know. It's something a bunch of idiots came up with, but it really does not have any relevance. So irrelevant no pros mention it. Why bother if you're not going to answer him? Because "patchzerg" is complete and utter bullshit and the worst possible way to talk down on players. Although pros know the game better than any of us, don't for a second think that they don't spout a bunch of bullshit every once in a while, either out of frustration or to stir up some shit in the community (see progamer Twitters, Ryung semifinals). Calling someone a patchzerg is not only stupid and biased, it attempts to devalue any achievements made by Zerg players after the queen patch by blaming imbalance or a boring metagame. That's why. Lol. No need to to paint a bead on your back and have everyone call you out. There's a thread called lings of liberty that has over 100 pages. What, did the a whole bunch of people have a collective psychosis? The point is that there is absolutely no way to know if the Zerg players who became successful after the queen patch would have anyway. Is Life a patch zerg? Is Hyun? Is Sniper? What about Roro? It's impossible to say because the queen patch happened, but new players would have shown up even if it hadn't. Patchzerg became synonymous with "Zerg player who plays in a way I do not like", and the Lings of Liberty thread became the place for balance whiners to show up and whine together. These "Patchzergs" played to the strenghts of Zerg to win games, just like any Protoss or Terran player would play to the strenghts of their races. People just didn't like watching Zerg win after a while, so everyone became willing to accept that "Hey, these guys only win because of the patch", which is disrespectful to the dedication and achievements of Zerg progamers. I'm getting very close to going off on rant-mode and completely off-topic; if you want to continue this discussion in PMs I'd be more than happy to do so, if not then I'm done discussing this.

the mines are 75/25 cost and extremely powerful against air and ground AND can be reactored marines are 50 minerals and strong sure, but they produce too slowly from a barracks to really help alot vs that toss early strength Oracles are the best opener agains terran period. i actually dont think its a PROBLEM if toss is forced stargate every game vs T. because afterwards you can go DT, storm, collossi, or air terran is also forced to go mines every game vs toss (1rax 1gas 1factory reactor CC mines is probably best build) but I dont really think its that bad of a metagame that is created lets be honest. The oracle as a unit allows protoss to turn his resources (150 minerals 150 gas) into a very powerful fast flying harassment unit that shreds marines and SCV's the bare truth is at the early moments of the game, there is no other "type" of unit that protoss would rather spend his money on its a closed shut issue. Oracle openers will ALWAYS be the strongest most powerful opener in PvT and the strongest way to spend your first 150 minerals 150 gas until oracles are nerfed. but if oracles are nerfed, then nerf mines and medivacs too User was banned for this post.

Incontrol himself was actually a big fan of it Phoenix openings were popular for a bit until Terrans started getting super greedy against it and expanding faster, and when protoss started expanding faster to compensate, terrans would just build a bunch of marines and practically a-move to victory. And once you open colossi, fast forge play into templar is a better use of gas, as you're already forcing vikings.
