I always figured Ryung would win a GSL, I would safely bet this one is his. There's nothing wrong with new faces, people love new faces. BUT, people want to see the new faces face off against the old guard, the Mvp's, the MC's, the DRG's, the MMA's. It's just not as hyped. Season 2 and 4 were the best seasons this year and both featured a royal roader vs Mvp in the finals. Mvp in the finals = ultimate hype It's not only that, but people like to see dominating play. Sniper placed 2nd in both his groups. Hyun placed 2nd in both his groups and one of them only had 3 players. Innovation placed 1st in his Ro16 group, but 2nd in his Ro32 group. Ryung placed 2nd in both of his groups. It's easy to hype things when a player is crushing through the GSL like Squirtle/Life did. Three of the four players got through by the skin of their teeth twice in the group stages. But they annihilated the group winner, hyped, fan-favorites in best-of-five setting. I love it when that supposed-best-toss without-a-starleague lost or that crybaby terran crumbled. Maybe reverse-hype for me I guess :p
Anyway thats a better measure than one night with double elimination group. At least you cant argue against the quality of these semifinalists (well Ryung, not so much)

The lack of preparation time and time of the year really showing for this season so far. O-o This is such a strange top 4. I'm not sure how to feel, although I am slightly disappointed.

It feels like in the majority of the games, were lost more than they were won. (if that makes sense) There just wasn't awesome incredible plays from the winners, the losers just completely messed up and got smashed.

This, absolutely.

So, in 2012 we'll have four new GSL champions and one repeat champion ( Mvp )
I wonder if this will continue or if it will stabilize next year and we will start seeing multiple title players again.
I guess it really depends on HOTS since there will only be one more WOL GSL.
If things continue to go as they are now with little consistency and new champions every season I doubt we'll ever see Mvp's GSL records be broken.

isn't Hyun kespa player too?

Yeh the games this season have been just horrible. I'm not too dissappointed with the top 4, although I think it's a super weird lineup. Bogus has been hyped up as a godly player by a few people, so will be interested to see how he goes in the semis vs HyuN, could be a nice series.

Taking out lots of fan favorite(Seed,MKP,Taeja,Nestea,MVP).
Winner of Hyun vs Bogus should win GSL. But life played great. It became obvious through the season that he wasn't the random zerg people thought he was. Sniper is just a zerg True. Sniper is playing like how DRG has always been. Just solid and standard play. That's why Sniper is just a zerg. Life and Leenock has always been entertaining zergs.
Eh DRG was kinda the "life of zerg" when he first became popular. Before him zerg played much more passively with their lings. DRG popularized counterattattacking and he is actually the reason why terrans today wall of their naturals.

if the results of the RO8 went the other way, with creator/soulkey/marineking/leenock, then it would be much more hyped than it is now haha. alas, not so

I like new and upcoming players but this is too much, this gsl is a fiasco for me :[

Dunno how that plays into elephants.

Nooo Leenock I don't like Sniper his name alone bugs me, and yet the guy never did anything wrong. I am such a weird ass.
Suprised Bogus took it 3-0 aswell, gotta watch the vods later on.

This is what happens when you rush a GSL all to have it in las vegas...not worth it based on the level of the games displayed.

As a Leenock anti-fan, the results make me happy. ^^

I am not sure about that. We have to remember GSL seasons were all this short in 2011 and we still got consistent winners. I think the skill level of Code S is just much higher and close than ever before. We have always had upsets but just a bit more this season. Like someone pointed out, every Ro4 player went second in Ro32 and Ro16 except Bogus who was 1st in his Ro16 group. The parity is just really high now.

I´m amazed at how the negativity is escalating here. I was very much entertained and I think in this thread are a lot more positive comments than negative ones and moments of awe before page 50.

There is too much randomness in SC2.
