Standard LR rules apply: No balance whining, no KeSPA vs. GomTV inciting, no excessive derailing ESPECIALLY when games are on. This is not a thread for you to argue with other people. |
Honestly, I wish people would read Mvp's interviews more.
Mvp says he is extremely saddened when fans take his wrist issues as an excuse and blame him for lying or making it up when he continues to win.
His problem is real, it is serious, it's not something that a simple treatment is going to fix.
Yes, it affects his gameplay.
No, he does not blame his losses on his condition. He has even stated that he doesn't think his skill level is high... top 60 or something.

Rain is the first SC2 protoss I can find myself cheering for. Sick sick sick games in the first series

I personally hope he gets crushed in the finals. This is such a pathetic post. Far from being overrated, mvp is actually underrated. Every season, every round, every match people say its the end for him. And every season, every round, every match mvp gives 200% and cements himself as the greatest player of all time. People are mvp's fan because 1. He is always humble. 2. He is always fun to watch. 3. He has a fascinating background story. 4. He is an all around awesome guy. 5. He has a killer smile. 6. He can suck people's soul when his mouth opens. 7. He has 97 GSL Code S wins. 8. He is in his 6th GSL final. 9. He has 4 championships. 10. He is the first WCG winner for sc2. 11. He is the main innovator of builds that everyone else copies. 12. He won season 2, and is in the finals this season with extreme amounts of pain in his neck and wrists. I agree that Mvp is underrated. People say Rain is the best even after Mvp beat him. People were saying Squirtle was the best, and Mvp beat him. ppl says the same shit about Taeja and MKP and MVP still kicks their asses any time all day lol

Awwww.....both Taeja and Sun lost
Oh well, well-played by MVP and Life for sure...

I got sick and tired of hearing people making up excuses for MVP's losses. Yes his illness plays a role in the MVP he is today, but you're insulting MVP and his opponents every single time you put it down to his illness.
TL is so fustrating sometimes.

Not sure why people would say MVP is overrated. I have a hard time remembering the last time MVP was favored in a BOx match up with someone in the GSL. Everyone is always doubting him, including myself.
Even going into the finals now hes going to be the underdog, that's probably why people get so stoked when he wins.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves with the B word for MVP you crazy nerds. So, GSL 4 titles don't mean shit to you ?
Consider the length of GSL as compared to say OSL. There wasn't anyone in SC2 who was dominant over a long period of time. Also he got his 4 wins before the Age of Elephants came about. Even if MVP wins this one I wouldn't be surprised if it'll be the last time he ever does (granted KeSPA players' continuous participation in the GSL and their skills getting better and better as time goes by). Anyway it's still too early to call anyone the best player that ever touched the game. People have been saying that bout Nestea and MC as well...
Don't get me wrong. I still think MVP is one of the best players at the moment, though his play is too inconsistent to call him the absolute best.

Mvp won his first GSL back in Jan 2011. If he wins this GSL, the time span will be 22 months which is a decent amount of time. And you can't downplay his achievements by saying it was before the Age of Elephants. It would be saying that Boxer wouldn't have won if JD and Flash played earlier. You can only be compare to the competition you had during that time.

I could understand about the problems "really affecting" his play if this were Brood War but SC2 is much much much easier on the wrists.

The difference is that these elephants existed during the same time frame and had already proven themselves whereas Boxer was in a completely different era from Flash so the two situations are incomparable.
Downplaying MVP's achievements is unacceptable. He earned his victories and deserves every title he's won. However, now since the game is official about to restart (elephants included) with HOTS we will see how he does in the HOTS GSLs against them.

well if you're going to say Mvp's play is inconsistent then every single sc2 player is inconsistent, it doesn't get more consistent than making 6 GSL finals, the first one being 22 months before the most recent.

Who knows maybe MVP will continue to win championships. I'm not ruling that out. This time round I'll be cheering for Life though. Royal Road all the way baby!

'Greats' come and go. Lots of players are hailed as the greatest, but its always fleeting. Nestea. MC. Taeja.
MVP is the only player to pwn again and again, consistently, for the past two years.
