While the games were lackluster in terms of excitement, at least we got a new player on the scene who can hopefully challenge for "best Toss in the world" title if he continues to build on his momentum.
I feel like Zerg and Terran have many big names who are consistent, whereas Protoss has only really had MC and maybe Genius, everyone else has a hot period and vanishes away.
Hoping Seed can improve and become a big name, he is in the same team with Nestea and MVP, so he couldnt possibly wish for better practice partners, either that or we have to hope that some of the Kespa Protossessesses can become major players.

If MC wins, will still say this?

It's a little surprising to see so many people get up in arms over the quality of games. It was a PvP, honestly how often are those the most entertaining series? If it had been a bunch of macro colossus battle like game 5 would it have been any better? I really doubt it.
How many other people like myself stayed up late to watch a PvP finals even though they don't like PvP? It wasn't the games I stayed up for, it was the story. In the biggest and hardest SC2 tourny in the world that is dominated by so many of the same players over and over again, we finally have a new champion. A relatively inexperienced individual player at that. Not only did we see a new face become champion which is rare in itself, but he's the only other Protoss player to ever win, making it even more rare. Do you think so many people showed up to ZvZ finals in BW to see diverse and interesting games? No, they were there to see the story unfold.
Please look beyond the games and see that something much more important happened today than just a PvP series.

Haha :D I was struggling a lot who to pick. In the end I had to stick to Slayers. What about a compromise: Slayers's going to win, but it'll be close, like 5:3 or even 5:4?

i stayed up to watch mc do to seed what seed actually did to MC.. so this finals cuts deep..

Was he giving up a WCG spot or a WCS spot?

What I really like about Seed is that he seems to have nerves of steel. There is a large batch of skilled players whose primary deficiencies are mindset and pressure management. During this GSL run, have we ever seen Seed "choking"? His execution during this finals was impressively clean.

If they want this game to live longer than 2 years after final expansion... Believe it or not, I think this will actually end up happening. I don't necessarily want it to happen or think it needs to happen, but it will probably happen. It would actually encourage more macro play in Protoss matchups, all they'd need to do to make it work is buff the Stalker. I really hope so much that this happens. But the correct path would be to nerf the dps of shitty 1A units like the Marauder and Roach. Now then if you also remove Collossi, we'd have a game. The Marauder takes more micro than almost any unit in the game, and it creates the need for almost as much micro on the part of the Protoss player. The fact that you do not like losing to bio does not make the Marauder a 1-A unit.
You can kite melee units with any unit, i.e. Marines or Roach - hell, everything that can shoot. Removing/Nerfing Marauders wouldn't make the game less skillful. Besides, i don't know what you're talking about, i myself go Bio in TvT against Mech and MMMVG in TvP.
It's still a shitty unit as there is no strategical component like securing/sieging positions (Siegetank) or exerting map control (Hellion).
However, back on topic: I really really dislike MC, so i'm glad he lost. Now all matchups were covered in GSL finals, no?

Different interests form different people
Us spectators: want to watch entertaining games GOM TV: want to present entertaining games so that more people watch Players: want to win, fuck entertainment
Seed doesn't get a penny for playing entertaining games or giving exciting interview for us. Not like some mediocre foreign players who rely on fanboy money.
|
No surprise that the ZvZ and PvP finals were the most boring to date lol.
|
There is also no argument to be made against PvP, its not like any of the other finals were insanely fun to watch. Inca vs Nestea was worse in what a shamble and joke it made the game to look like, that final was a farce, this final was just boring.
A dream final this season would have been Symbol vs Naniwa, just the storylines would be great. Both "new" players on the top of GSL scene, and a foreigner in the finals for the first time.
But this isent WWE, the best man won, and that was Seed

Seed did what ever he could to win, and thats fine. but thats what PvP is all about. why any other match up much more entertaining to watch while players still play to win? imho its blizzard fault that they made PvP what it is, its their responsibility to fix it.

PvP finals, the mirror matchup finals that can only be made more entertaining by buffing Terran.

It is WCG. MC said in his interview that it clashed with ROG due to schedule change. But it seems it won't clash now so maybe they changed the schedule back again. The WCG qualifier has been pretty poorly ran it seems. Genius didn't know about it until he read Code A interview of other players (he is tealoess but still...). MC is still in the brackets so hopefully he will play.
