No need to be sorry, I couldn't find a good explanation of the format anywhere. AFAIK wildcards matches determine who goes on to ro16. ro16 is part of the playoff bracket but is played online. the winners from ro16 will go to Toronto for the live finals.
You can think of the wildcard stage as the round of 24, which gets whittled down to 16.
Is it just me or did it seem like they saved the highest profile matches for day 2? I see all of these series being close. When in a field of 8 Ret is the weakest player, you know you're got some big dogs in the field.
The image explains it fairly well. But yeah Round of 24 going into Round of 16. Sort of the like the Champ Bracket of MLG. Round of 8 is the offline finals in the Toronto.

I wouldn't put Ret as the weakest player, I would put him above aLive, Sen, and probably Zenio actually.

Not above aLive and Sen imo, above zenio yeah I probably agree.

As are Puzzle, Thorzain, HerO and PuMa, especially in this league. Rather good players will get knocked out early because of the format, but there are still plenty of good ones left. Polt's and Alive's fault for not doing better in the group stages.
Those are old. NASL's groups have nine people each, who each play eight matches. The final score isn't going to be 6-0, but 8-0, for Puma, and 6-2, for Stephano.

^ I'm going with this. Although to be fair I don't really mind who wins since the matches are so stacked. The only upset for me would be if Zenio beat Sen, nothing against Zenio, I just think Sen is too awesome to loose.
If Thorzain goes hellions again, he should just keep making them and keep running them by up ret's ramp. He isn't making any slow lings to block, no sim city, no queen on hold, that''s the best way to deal with this.

Thorzain needs to do more drops and disrupt Ret's rhythm if he hopes to come back
You right I am maybe abit to sensitive atm. But I just see it all the time now. People dont talk about the games anymore its all about balance all the time and it gets so anoying.

If we lucky we can get Stephano and Polt in the final
Hopefully not. My dream 8 would be Demuslim (Darn it Ret, I want him in too), Puma, HerO, HuK, MC, GanZi, Ryung, Beasty.
Stephano and Polt is boring, happens too often, would rather have a mix of almost there foreigners, some classic NASL finalists (Puma, HerO), and some Code S/A stalwarts in MC, GanZi and Ryung.

Where do you see that?
MrBitter mentioned a few matchups in the next round were now known. That one ^ plus DeMuslim vs Ret.
Hmm.. I thought it would be something like this + Show Spoiler +
Puzzle - TT1 Demuslim - Ret Alicia - Galaxy Huk - Beastyqt Puma - Ryung MC - Sen/Zenio Stephano - Dimaga/Ganzi Hero - Polt/Alive
according to the pic in the OP but it seems I missed the text that says the 8 winners will get seeded according to their season record. In that case we need all the results before knowing all the match-ups I guess. ^^
Sen threw EVERYTHING he had at Zenio that game, he brought in spine crawlers in that last battle lost it slightly but then brought in all his drones and won the second battle barely.
WTF did I just watch? If this series goes to game 5 it won't JUST be one of the best ZvZs of all time (Though it definitely is already) it would become one of the best series of all time.
That finish for the series was fitting. Sen makes an extremely difficult comeback against Zenio due to the latter making a big movement mistake - this is how Sen won against Zenio in the first two games, and it's how he won here. Zenio - solid builds, mind games, decisions early game, and understanding of the match up, but Sen has the better positional and timing plays.

That was to be expected. The curse is real.
Seriously though, getting the highest seed isn't much of a reward if it implies you having to play Thorzain in the first round.
Curse? He got 3rd in his Code S group after going to Anaheim and then leaving right after for Dreamhack. And Ret is really good. It's beyond me how you chalk up this loss to Thorzain being cursed and not Ret doing a great job, even if ZvT is a little stupid right now.

Meh, it's always like that.
Thorzain loses: "THE EG CURSE STRIKES AGAIN"
Thorzain wins 5 days later: "He hasn't been on EG for long enough. THE CURSE WILL STRIKE SOON"
Thorzain loses 5 days later: "SEE I TOLD YOU. THE CURSE. SUCK IT EG"
Thorzain wins 5 days later: "Nope, nope. Hasn't been long enough"
If I were EG CEO I'd seriously wonder why all players who join EG diminish their performances. And if I were a player with an offer to enter EG I'd really think about it, considering the background, it doesn't look like being on EG is any better for you as a player, though financially it probably works wonders.
Ah yes, post hoc ergo propter hoc. Because some great players signed to EG and then immediately hit a slump it obvious that it has something to do with EG right? Wrong. Lets be honest, some of EG's most notable sign ups (Puma, Huk, Thorzain) came off the back of huge tournament wins (NASL for Puma and DreamHack for Huk and Thorzain). So naturally if they don't win the next huge tournament they're suddenly on a slump? Lets look at Stephano, sure he's still doing well, but he's hardly the 'invincible number 1 foriegner' we knew 3 months ago, yet the masses don't pick up on it because there's nothing really to blame it on (team change, personal issues). And lets be honest, Stephano's results really aren't that bad, unless you count not winning every single major tournament bad.
Now apply that thinking to Thorzain, so he's not the methodical 'Spoon Terran' Swedish powerhouse we were witnessing a very short time ago, but are his results actually bad? Did he ever lose because he made poor decisions or had poor control? No, sometimes great people lose because equally great players out class them on the day.
If EG was the worst performing foreign team then maybe people would have a point, but they're not, infact they remain one of the best and most consistent top performers.

But dude, pls inform yourself about what you say first. check Liquipedia about the eg members and see what they have accomplished after they got into EG. With the exception of Thorzain (as he is really new) all of them have accomplished more than when they were on their old team. If you compare new players on EG with new players from other teams, you would see that they actually are doing well.
