honestly this arena feels like a flop, i'd love to be proven wrong.. but scheduling conflicts with dream hack and the fact that it is only 8 players leaves much to be desired. I dont feel any hype for this event because i have no idea what they are actually playing for.

i couldnt agree more.

its just a smaller, less exciting winter arena and i dont even know why this happens.
last time i payed, but i didnt feel the need to pay this time.

It suits perfectly to my taste. I'm not a fan of dread through the bracket, and not much use for storyline / upsets. I just want see the best of the best trying to beat each other. I could care less about result and the seeding thing doesn't make much sense to me anyway. But 50+ matches / 100+ games of the very top performance is great.

I think i'm gonna turn into MLG this weekend for the most part, there production is usually awesome and I prefer to watch these players over dreamhack. Atleast for friday/saturday. Also can't miss Grubby casting debut!

I love to see Axslav as analyst there. Great choice by MLG to pick him up for it

8 players, first prize 5k $ and its ppv ? haha

Pretty much.. in addition it will be same as first arena which means VERY limited to no crowd at all. Could be realistic for this to be PPV in a year or 2 with this 8 man format, defiantly not NOW.

Thanks but no thanks.
I'll be skipping this .... "event".

way too late for europe, and too many games considering so few players, why not just have a one day event

plenty of playhems and smaller cups on all the time, why not watch those if you want to see foreigners battle it out?

Speak for yourself, some people do prioritize high quality play.

I don't get why this tournament is getting so much hate. 8 awesome players and we're gonna get to see all of them play each other, how is this not awesome? Would you rather watch scrubs getting dominated by koreans? 1,000,000 person tournament is not automatically better than 8 person tournament.

And before you pull the foreigners card, maybe you should watch baseball if all you want to see is your home team winning, I watch SC2 because I love watching high level games.

It's basically a series of showmatches played out to determine seeding. It struggles to define itself as a real tournament because let's be honest, what is really at stake besides money?

Yeah, exactly this.

It feels like an MLG event shouldn't be this boring, underhyped, badly timed, strangely formatted... still, I hope it turns out well for everyone who is watching and for the organizers.

I'm more excited for this than I was for IPL, to be honest. I don't give a fuck about the brackets, the storyline of rampages etc. I just want to see the best of the best duke it out and watch some of the best Starcraft 2 in the world.

lol a tournament does not require anything other than naming a champion, usually accompanied by a special first place prize.

Actually the top 4 are guaranteed to be in Anaheim pools along with fully paid trips to Anaheim and Arena 2. There is a lot at stake beyond prize money. The bottom 4 has to play in the online Invitational to get back into Arena 2.
