Have you ever seen a nuke hit an army in a GSL match? I can hardly recall one game, where toss on purpose moved all his unit into the nuke landing site. He was dead anyways, so he just made the GG more entertaining.

Let me put it this way.

I've seen 10 nukes for every Seeker Missle I've seen in the GSL.

The spell is just NOT used, AT ALL.

They can't be fungal'd.

On a different note: The range to cast Seeker missiles is just too short, you will always lose some ravens and they are too expensive to be used as suicide units.

Off topic: I agree, don't know why its so short ranged. Almost all Caster units can cast their spells at a reasonable distance, Raven is to expensive to risk them

Because Seeker Missle is stupidly designed.

Unlike the other spells in the game that are all essentially damage over time effects Seeker Missle is burst damage. This means that it benefits much more from chain casting than Storm or Fungal Growth does. You can eradicate entire expensive armies with JUST Seeker Missles theoretically in a way you just can't do with Storm or Fungal Growth so it makes it very difficult to balance.

It's either potentially overpowered or it's worthless. As it stands now with its energy cost, range, and cost of the Raven it's edging on the worthless side.

I think you're right with that. Seeker missile is bad the way it is now but if it would be casted at longer range it would probably be totally overpowered. It's probably just a bad designed spell and really hard to balance.

Also in my opinion from just from a flavor stand point it's a redundant spell. Terran already has nukes. They already have a super high risk, high reward spell that can eradicate entire armies.

Why in the hell would you give Terrans ANOTHER one of those spells in place of something with as much potential use as Irradiate which is what Science Vessels used to have and would be EXTREMELY useful against unit compositions like Broodlord/Infestor?

I guess it's this way because terran has already a lot of options in the early and midgame. Giving the raven another useful spell could lead to some issues in the mid-game. The only phase in the game were Terran is low on options is the lategame and it seems like fixing that issue is not that easy.

I think the cost of the Raven in general keeps it from being abused in the early game anymore than other casting units are.

Well I look at it this way.

If you're making Ravens you're investing a lot of gas into them which takes away other options Terran has, and considering that I just don't think that Ravens would be a problem in the midgame with Irradiate as their replacement spell even against Zerg.

I guess we can't tell how it would play out.

Hm, I think we should stop with the theory-crafting. Hopefully we will see something new at HOTS and for now we have to deal with the game how it is.
