Drg going into Geniuses booth isn't illegal under any rules, it's not bm at all. If it was an issue they're would be a rule about it and Drg wouldn't have done it. This is for anyone saying it "affected" Geniuses play.

let's hope the sequel delivers.

This could be the sequel, with MMA v DRG being the opening movie.

I look forward to the next in the series of course though =D

Yeah, you can only blame the system, but the system is already pretty good.

cant really blame the sytem though!! happens in everything football icnluded, how amny times does one team knock out the best and lose in the finals of tournaments!!! Sucks but always got to have a loser!!! Shame that second place is a great acheivement but Genius must be so gutted still!!!

So is MKP back to resident kong of SC2?

MLG is considered a major championship and as long as you have one major championship you're no longer really a kong. On top of that MKP took out DRG who is snow a GSL champion which further legitimizes his championship IMO

Winter Arena = not a korean starleague

SC2 =|= BW

Winter Arena is a big enough event to disqualify MKP from the Kong Line, IMO.

There just aren't any Kongs in SC2 any more.

One does not simply "leave" the Kong line. Once you join you are forever solidified as a Kong. That applies to Fantasy, Jangbi, Stork and for SC2 MKP. MKP is the only player to make it to multiple (3) GSL finals and not win one.

And no, Winter Arena does not count when half the representation aren't even Korean players.

It's actually only 2 unless you count Code A. And if we count Code A then Puzzle is a GSL champion...

GSL WC's are counted as an official GSL by Gom.

Ok then.

I am pretty sure both DRG and Genius agreed before the game that they could go in eacothers booths, I really doubt they would do it otherwise, considering they are good friends and teammates.

Loses game 4, gets BMed by DRG in the booth. Makes mistakes in game 5, gets BMed again. Genius makes more mistakes than ever. The rest is history.

Mind games victory goes to DRG, and you can hear in Genius' speech what he thinks about that. Maybe building carriers is a bit BM but doesn't warrant mid game booth BMing. Considering how tight rules are ingame about chatting only reserved to pp and gg. In between game unspoken rules were broken by DRG imo. Going into another player's booth during a finals no less should not be considered acceptable. The gap at the top is so small and anything can affect you at the highest level. It really takes the shine of DRG's victory and first GSL. Now I look at him in a different light.

Felt really bad about that. Lost a lot of respect for DRG.

You could see how Genius was shaken by that

Lol. You seriously are going to use this as excuse Genius lost?
And not that DRG played better?

Not really an excuse for the loss, but rather disappointed that DRG somehow took this over the top, disrespected his friend quite a bit in my opinion. A thumbs down in his own booth is something else than going into someone elses and dragging his arms up.

This loss will make or break Genius. Either he fades into obscurity or he will convert this loss into motivation to tear every shit up in future.

What a transformation though. From being a fairly mediocre player, with a slightly above average PvT, clinging to code S through is use of the same old builds *cough 3 gate void ray* he gets deserving sent down to code A, and from the up/down matches the dragon got awoken and it turned out he was a beast in all matchups all along.

That's exactly what they should be doing.

I prefer honesty in community.

The honest truth is they'll get fucking fired if they don't apply some spin.

NFL Casters don't get fired for saying "What an epic superbowl! Amazing!" instead of "This is already the greatest finals ever" after three games.

I don't even think they're lying. They acknowledge when finals aren't good, but do you expect them to say "damn that was a crappy finals", no they're just going to talk about something else. Tonight's series WAS excellent.

What is with everyone's strawman argument crap? Did I say they should say "This was crappy?" I said I compared it to "epic!" and "Amazing!"

The finals were good. Sure. The complaint was about everything being "The best ever", not "they should say this is crappy".

Read and respond to what is actually said if you want to make an arugment, please. Not what you wanted to hear.
I hope Plexa's sig is right.

Nobody asks them to say the finals were shit. They werent, it was fairly entertaining but certainly not "the best finals ever". Sports commentators can spin storylines and plays a little but they dont make obvious lies to hype a product.

Wow you do not know what kong means.

1) This was not a regular MLG. Do you consider Arena of Legends to be GSL? Cause MKP already won that too.

2) Beating a champion in a special event doesn't make it a major championship.

MKP definitely still the King of Kongs.

Also don't forget that DRG at the time he was facing MKP knew that he was up for a GSL grand final match in the near future and was probably heavily focusing on his ZvP at that time. Whether MLG is a major championship or not is up for discussion, but that no "major championship" weighs closely as much as a GSL one is not.

i'd think most of the established community would agree that a three-day tournament that can't even get its champion to defend his title can be considered just as prestigious as the gsl, which is undoubtedly a major tournament

I agree with Xax actually. Friends or not, if I'm one of the sponsors I wouldn't want to see the final competitors trivializing the moment by these sort of antics. If I'm GOM, I wouldn't want them doing it either. Not a HUGE deal either way, but I can see why it would turn some people off.

Yes... You can clearly see that Genius has the talent to go up there. It's his blink micro, imperfect forcefields and lack of solid decision making that cost him the finals. I argue that Genius practicing more could be a really strong contender for both the protoss and the GSL throne.

Best of luck to both of them

Well under any other circumstances I would say that´s a bullshit move, but they are teammates and obviously friends so whatever. Whether it affected him, no idea. But his decisions or rather undecisiveness was really, really a huge factor...
