Honestly, although most people may see your post as a QQ whine post, I play protoss and I actually agree. I still play protoss because it's the race I got to masters from silver with and I have spent so much time learning it that it's just frustrating to try and learn a new race. I hate trying to play a new race and losing to people that I know I could beat with my Protoss. So that's why me (and a lot of other people) still play Protoss. But, seriously, it is a boring race. It looks cool, graphically, and has cool units and story-lines, but the matchups are freaking boring as hell. PvP: Worst matchup in the game imo. To me, the 4 gate nerf made it even worse, because at least with 4 gate battles, the person with superior micro won the game and it was intense, quick action. Now, it's just who wants to take their natural first and be more greedy, then kind of make stuff, blink around, try to harass (which shouldn't happen if your opponent is not retarded), and then kind of stay alive until you transition into colossus.
PvZ: Probably the most entertaining of the protoss matchups. It's really predictable and progresses linearly, but at least there are different branches that can happen from the beginning. The problem is that it goes something like FFE --> either gateway aggression or stargate harass. Zerg goes quick 3rd into droning. They should scout either the stargate or gates going up. If stargate, make spores and queens and maybe hydras depending on how many stargate units. If gates, make roaches and lings and maybe some hydras. When hydras are made, protoss makes colossus. Zerg tries to deny 3rd, protoss tries to take 3rd. Then zerg gets corruptors for colossus. Then broodlords. Then protoss gets blink stalkers and mothership. Zerg gets infestors. Protoss gets HTs and archons and immortals.
While that may seem like a lot of stuff happening, it's so predictable and linear. This happens, then protoss must do THIS. Then zerg must do THIS. etc. etc. Mutas are a different strategy too, as well as infestors, but they each force the protoss to respond a specific way (blink stalker, HT tech for mutas and HTs, archons, chargelots and immortals for infestor/ling/roach)
Then PvT: Early expand, hold off early Terran aggression, tech to colossus, terran gets vikings, get upgrades, take 3rd, get templar tech, terran gets ghosts, expand and max, attack and whoever gets better emps or storms off usually wins. Yay. Exciting. Honestly I think Protoss has the advantage PvT right now on these bigger maps and its really just boring to watch. People act like 40 minute game = good game but it doesnt. Constant action = good game. Id rather watch an intensely microd proxy 2 gate over a 40 minute sit and max PvT any day.
Conclusion/TL;DR: Protoss is just really linear in style and must respond to each phase of the game the exact same every time. That's not to say they cant harass with proxy pylons/warp prism or hit timings, but every protoss matchup goes through the exact same order of units being built. It's just really boring, but you need those units to win (colossus, HT). This isn't whether or not Protoss is balanced or not, because it could be the best race in the game and still be boring to play. It's also not whether or not Protoss is hard to play, because it's the concept of the unavoidable tech paths that makes the race (and the matchups it plays in) boring.

WOOOOT! No Ke- Parting and Puzzle through! :D

I'm shocked NaDa didn't get through. I had all my money on NaDa/Puzzle.

NaDa might've dropped back down to Code A, but ahahahaha, still beat Keen.
Those two are so funny.

Those two are so funny. Yeah Thats all I cared about today. So will Keen and Nada be in the same up and down group now?

Just read the results. Joke race. Poor Nada

2 protosses advance from a group?
Is this like the first time that has happened in GSL history?

This kind of mindset could be applied to all matchups, though.
ZvT: Terran gets Hellions to keep the Zerg in his base, so the Zerg has to get Mutalisks. The Zerg expands or double expands while harassing to keep the Terran in his base. The Terran gets a big army and starts to push out trying to not get caught out of position. Eventually Hive tech for the Zerg and Ghosts for the Terran.
ZvZ: LingBling wars to mass Roach Infestor. Yeah, there's sometimes Mutas, but they never really do anything besides try and let the Muta player expand a little.
TvT: This is the most boring matchup for most people to watch from what I've seen people write. Mass Tanks or Bio depending on the map.
All the matchups have a "standard" way to be played. It's not like Protoss is the only one. Plus, I think they're trying to make mech viable in TvP for HotS. I'm sure PvZ will be overhauled as well.
I do agree with PvP though... It's the only matchup I would say actually sucks, haha. I think macro games can be kinda done though with Robo expands, right?

Bitch plz, only 5 Protosses in R16 and 3 Zergs and Terrans still complaining just b/c NaDa isn't the NaDa in BW? These 5 Protosses are the best and the most elite on the world right now and they deserved it. Parting played exactly like I expected, his PvT is so damn good.

I think it has much less to do with any particular matchup and more about the maps (you could literally write-up a similar post about any race). Early on in SC2 people were complaining about all the small maps leading to short/cheesy games, then when the map pools in tourneys shifted toward larger and larger maps and everybody started to play macro games they are now seen as boring. Well maps and a lot of the mechanics of SC2 itself, which has a much smaller focus on micro than its predecessor.

damn nada knocked out, but at least not 4th place!
Also, glad to see 2 protoss move on I guess.
ALSO, it seems that every game on cloud kingdom so far has been epic? xD

I actually liked Inca's play much better than these two (puzzle and farting). Just look at the match of each other (puzzle v. farting) and tell me how entertaining. The rest of games were not much better.
Genius is my protoss hero, though he may not advance as far as I hope him to be.

MVP will pick either a terran or a zerg. MMA will pick a zerg. MC will pick Ganzi or Parting, Nestea will pick a zerg or a protoss

Most players are on good terms with each other anyway so it's probably all in good fun.
