Well I respect your opinion as a pro-player if you guys can't deduce from those games that there was lag (atleast Seeds) then you really need to get your eyes checked.

hm im a little confused here on who to trust.
a know pro who has actually played between all the servers or some random TL guy?

i mean yeah, obviously there is gonna be lag but if they really play on NA i doubt its much worse for the koreans than for euros.
if it is then the koreans should stop downloading prons while playing.

Thorzain is good but its a bit disrespectful to the Korean players by downplaying the lag factor especially when Thorzain couldn't make it past Yugioh in Code A (along with all the other Swedes).

Even though I agree with you about the lag complaints are silly excuses. There is a big difference between serbia and sweden though in terms of location and broadband infrastructure.

And Mouz isn't playing from Serbia, so I don't really see how Beastys point would apply in this case...

No Painuser we have seen Boxer using this a lot lately and a few other koreans picked it up also. Taeja used it a lot too.

Maybe when the trend of KR > Foreigners in live events stops being part of reality, then people will stop making excuses about lag and stuff. As it stands now, Koreans almost always come out on top in live events, so naturally people will explain that lag plays a big role in foreigner success in online events. It's hard to say how much lag actually plays a part in the outcomes of things, but it's very easy to understand why people use lag as an excuse for Koreans in online events in the face of how Koreans typically dominate foreigners at live, lag-less events.

for example many people delegitimize thorzains win over mc in TSL 3 because of lag although the game was played when mc was in DH invitational Stockholm.

Thorzain is 8 - 1 for tonights games, and an incredible 12 - 3 over the course of the whole team league, if anyone is keeping track.

No?

You guys place way too much weight into bo1s over online play.

"you guys" way to generalize.
Who else failed to qualify for Code A? Yea pretty much every foreigner

Exactly my point. By you guys I mean pretty much 90% of TL, in that they see a foreigner win a few games and the next thing you know they're good enough to compete with the top Koreans or at least get Code S.

Then what do you know, they go to Korea, usually get gifted a spot into the GSL, and flop out hard.

They did post in the Loser Finals thread that IPL tried their hardest to get the finals played live but it couldn't work, so they would be on replays. Only a few hours old at most, I'm fine with that!

PS - TZAIN what the spoon?

Some pros have also said that the lag is a big deal. For example, IdrA claims that online cross-server games are meaningless due to the lag.

Well, people need to realize that Team Format is different from GSL Code A. Team Format is more like ladder (which most Euros get their practice on) in which players don't know who are facing and which map (unless they are prepared sniper but given the schedule, don't think teams really have snipers except those strong in a certain matchup).

I think Koreans have a huge advantage when it comes to GSL format because their build preparation are much better.

oh and one more thing about the ping concerns:
a delay of 1-2sec would mean a ping of 1000-2000.
i can guarantee you that isnt the case.
the most likely scenario here is that euros play with a 0.1-0.3 sec delay and maybe the koreans have 0.2-0.4 at most.
whats way more important is the stability of the ping and lagspikes.

Man, nowhere am I saying TZ is bad or mediocre. I personally think he's the best foreigner terran, and probably a top 5 foreigner overall.
It just pisses me off that people think those games are somehow proof that he's Code S class or can compete with MVP. People said the same about Naniwa, and he's something like 1-10 in Korea, or Stephano, who was hyped at the best zerg in the world by people on this site and then did so-so in comparion when he went over.

Meanwhile Yugioh had only Thorzain to focus on Thorzain just got to korea from Blizzard invitational. That's not something to be downplayed either.

For example, TZain faced Polt yesterday in the Millennium Finals. He got crushed 3-0.
