Please stop the tournament comparison discussion. Especially regarding players their runs (Stephano seems to be the current topic). Stay on topic and stick to the games. Consequences will be met out to further derailment.
In addition leave the usual out of this topic:
-Balance complaints -Map complaints -Stream complaints -Caster/player bashing -Off topic discussions
Logically continue this list with things that are obviously frowned upon. Enjoy the free and wonderful event with loads of games and coverage! |
Why is it that whenever I go to check the streams and catch some games, there never seem to be any going on? Kind of bizarre to have 3 streams running and no games being broadcast.

Stephano, Thorzain, SeleCT, Sen, elfi and Idra are all out despite being thought to be potential winners. Lol come on, nobody actually thought Thorzain or elfi stood a chance. ??? thorzain was the best euro at one point Best foreigner terran still. (If I'm not forgetting someone obvious.) Kas is up there. Team Empire got some fierce terrans. Other that that? Select. DeMuslim is not. Why is Demuslim not considered good? Anyways, don't forget about Strelok either. And . . . I think that is it. Of course he is "good" but I do not reconsider him to be up there with the others. He's top among the NA terrans tho, if it's ok to count him as one of them. Forgot about Strelok. He's pretty solid. Lol, NA Terrans, I forgot that. Is there any good NA Terran atm? I'm looking at NA GM right now, and there is NoNge, who is most likely some korean smurf. And then NamhciR...Are your serious? NA needs to Terran it up fast and serious :D Terran does seem to be the harder race. The weaker the ladder, the less you see Terrans Hmm, Drewbie maybe? Or dde? Pokebunny? Trimaster) The list of good NA Terrans seems very short. But this can be also said for Protoss or zerg, NA has a solid Top 10-15 but after that, there is a big difference to the rest of the players. Drewbie hasn't shown any improvement from Korea yet. Pokebunny wins small lans but has yet take any decent placings at a major tourny. dde is so good, but n idea why he doesn't do well. Trimaster was a fluke IMO. The only good Terran NA has is Select.
You´re probably right, but I wonder, why this is the case. I mean, in the european weeklys you see new terran hopes almost every month and NA is kinda struggleing. After Idra, HuK, SeleCT, Sheth and TT1 (and recently maybe Gatored) there is not much. Btw. QXC is also not bad, if he has good form. Edit: As someone said, kawairaice is also there.

Really hope a foriegner wins this... Preferably White-Ra or HuK... We need a North American in the Blizzard cup.
Well that's actually quite good that two NA players advanced considering how few were in the tournament. It's definitely cool to see some NA representation in this mostly european main tournament. And it doesn't hurt that both of those guys are freaking awesome.
Personally I'd want to see Naniwa winning this. That would be so awesome.
As a sidenote, Huk, considering your bad relationship with playing with jetlag, I'd really love to see you start beating the crap out of that shit and arriving at these exotic tournament locations a few days earlier so you could adjust and kick some proper ass in the tournaments like you should.

I'd give it to thorzain just, but his play really seems to be slipping. I do wonder if he's actually practicing as much as he was. I'm looking forward to seeing how Kas and Happy play later today, Kas seems in great form lately and i'd love to see him do well at a live event.
I'd love to see Kas actually win a tournament as prestigious as this too. Unfortunately he seems to have "MKP Disease" where he chokes at the quarters/semi's of most competitions. What? MKP doesn't choke (except maybe in his first final against NesTea) What about his two finals against MVP? He didn't choke, at least not in the second one since Mvp was just better. The first one I saw the games but can't remember them lol, Mvp was too good back then too Dude the second one was actually nailbightingly close in comparison to the first one, that was the biggest roflstomp ever lol. I can vaguely remember MKP trying those basetrade antics that he used on NaDa but Mvp was having none of that MVP stomped him in the first two games, then in the third, MVP tried some 3 base Battlecruiser switch that just couldn't be supported by his economy, and MKP came back with a huge tank push. 4th game, MKP cheesed him out on Crossfire. Last two were dominations again. It really wasn't that close, although it was a good series.
Yeah I know it wasn't close, just in comparison to the incredibly lopsided first series is what I was getting at. It was a decent series, a couple of GG's in there.

That's not true, we have KawaiiRice who qualified for the champ brackets in 4 MLGs this year and is a mechanical beast, Major who is solid as a player, and QXC who has been in a bit of a slump, but not lets forget his GSTL all kill 4 months ago. When you measure results on an international stage Select is the only NA (If he even is NA) Terran who has done anything. For that matter, Him and Thorzain are the only two Terrans outside Korea who have done anything. KawaiiRice, Major, QXC, are all good players but havn't done much outside NA.

Unlucky or unable to check the schedule. I've watched games all day with a few breaks for lunch and such.

The problem is that his travel schedule is so absurd he cant. He is literally in a different country just about every week. On the 15th he had Code S in Korea, on the 18th-20st he had MLG in the USA, and on the 24th he has this Dreamhack, then he has the NASL finals next week.

Happy is one of those beastly ladder players who puts in an insane amount of games and usually has a pretty impressive win-ratio, but hasn't converted that into any noteable tournament victories (that I know of).
