Please stop the tournament comparison discussion. Especially regarding players their runs (Stephano seems to be the current topic). Stay on topic and stick to the games. Consequences will be met out to further derailment.

In addition leave the usual out of this topic:

-Balance complaints
-Map complaints
-Stream complaints
-Caster/player bashing
-Off topic discussions

Logically continue this list with things that are obviously frowned
upon. Enjoy the free and wonderful event with loads of games and coverage!

Writing off all the known Koreans was an obvious mistake. The known Koreans have been playing very strong and haven't lost any series to non-Koreans.

Stephano, Thorzain, SeleCT, Sen, elfi and Idra are all out despite being thought to be potential winners.

Lol come on, nobody actually thought Thorzain or elfi stood a chance.

???

thorzain was the best euro at one point

Best foreigner terran still. (If I'm not forgetting someone obvious.)

Being the best foreigner terran is nothing like being the best foreigner zerg or protoss. The top foreign protoss could very well be the best protoss in the world and 1 or 2 of the best foreign zergs could probably lay claim to the top5 zerg in the world statement. However Thorzain, as good as he is, probably is not a top10 terran.

I don't think you can place anyone as the 'best' foreign Terran. There are a bunch of good Terrans who are close in skill but none of them is dominating to be deemed as the best Terran. Thorzain seems the closest to that title but needs some good tournament finishes to be cement that position. Demuslim has been hyped for a while but he doesn't take part in many tournaments so it is hard to judge him. Select/Sjow/Major/Fenix are all up there but seem to have consistency issues. Kas has yet to show good results in LANs. I think that is pretty much it.

Kas is up there. Team Empire got some fierce terrans. Other that that? Select. DeMuslim is not.

Why is Demuslim not considered good? Anyways, don't forget about Strelok either. And . . . I think that is it.

That's mainly just because Korea seems to love that race so damn much.

When was the last time a foreign terran won anything?I know what I think when I see Naniwa winning stuff while Thorzain doesn't get even close, taking into consideration the massive difference between them in wc3.

The last one to win anything was ThorZaiN himself in TSL3.

Select won the American Invational and Sjow won that random tournament in Korea - but I don't know if that counts.

Yeah i forgot the American invite, guess that counts. The IESF tourney had a reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally weak player pool though.

I think you have to remember how many events SelecT came in 2nd to idra though. I think they've had 1-2 finishes or idra knocked select out in the Ro4 4 or 5 times. Obviously stylistically idra lines up well against SelecT in that MU and TvZ is probably selects weakest MU.

Sjow/SelecT are pretty obvious contenders. Puma might also count as a foreigner given a few more months outside Korea if Select does.

MVP is the best foreign terran.. he spent several days outside of korea earlier this month

Wow, HuK and Sheth the only remaining representatives of North America.

Really hope a foriegner wins this... Preferably White-Ra or HuK... We need a North American in the Blizzard cup.
I root for Euro Zergs, NA Protoss* and Korean Terrans. (Any North American who has beat a Korean Pro as Protoss counts as NA Toss)

It must be fun to climb on board the "Let's Hate Terran" campaign that seems to be in this community. But let's face it, they have been weak since the ghost nerf patch (1.4.2?).

No? I don't see any weakness - just that the game became more balanced since the Ghost nerf. EMP shoul've never been that strong in the first place. As for foreign terrans not winning anything, well they aren't as good as their korean peers and their pretty far from that korean skill ceiling than their toss/zerg counterparts.

As for ladder, I ain't terran so maybe their too weak there so Idk...

Well you need to be Korean to play terran on a high level as its much harder than the other races obviously.

But there are still many korean terrans who seem able to compete for now, we will see in the next months.

Obviously you don't need to be Korean, but yes it's very, very hard to get the absolute best out of the terran race, that's why you see it struggle in the foreign scene. Of course people here will deny this because the website is anti-terran in general, but it's reality. It's not underpowered, just hard.

Sorry, I don't understand that statement... are you trying to say that all current foreign Terrans are weaker than their foreign Protoss/Zerg counterparts, or are you just saying that foreign Terrans aren't as good as Korean Terrans? /confused. The former statement is pretty ridiculous and lolworthy. The second statement is just silly, because Koreans are better across the board, not just the Terrans.

I'm not going to bite and feed the trolls anymore anyway, don't want to derail the thread any further.
Seen some good games from DH so far, my money is on DRG to take it.

If you put into perspective the amount of tournaments that happened since TSL3, foreign terran's last big tournament win happened 10 years ago, but by all means keep calling terran imbalanced whenever MVP or MMA win a tournament, they can be considered your average joe and thrown into the equation like np, everyone gets a MSL quarter finals against flash.
I like the part where sense is considered a common, settled thing.

My hypothesis for why you don't see so many dominating foreign Terran players is because the learning curve is very different. While for Protoss, it is easy to get the hang of the race but very hard to succeed at the highest level of play (GSL), for Terran it is a lot harder to get the hang of (read: play below Korean standards) but a lot easier comparatively to win with at the highest level of play.

At least, it looked to be that way until about a month ago, when Protoss returned and there was a PvP finals in MLG Orlando... that kind of ruined by nice, neat hypothesis.
