Please stop the tournament comparison discussion. Especially regarding players their runs (Stephano seems to be the current topic). Stay on topic and stick to the games. Consequences will be met out to further derailment.

In addition leave the usual out of this topic:

-Balance complaints
-Map complaints
-Stream complaints
-Caster/player bashing
-Off topic discussions

Logically continue this list with things that are obviously frowned
upon. Enjoy the free and wonderful event with loads of games and coverage!

I used too little words in that statement.

No discussion possible.

I was referring to trowing games, not about what the best system is. Especially in a tournament were only a limited amount of teams participate, round robin will always fuel discussion about trowing games.

I dislike the GSL Bo1 format, but if there were Bo3. I don't think we can use round robin in SCII, too much chance of people trowing games. Not caring about your last game, and playing worse than your first game, is pretty annoying as well.

I guess i agree with you, GSL format is good, IF they had BO3 games because BO1s are stupid idea and always will be. Like having a 1 set tennis match etc etc.

So many tourneys these 2 months hard to keep up!

The round robin format they're using at DH is already bo1. The bo1 argument doesn't apply here. Of course having a bo3 is preferable to a single game, but only if time allows.

Compared to the OSL/GSL format, the round robin format plays one extra game per group. The problem with the round robin is that for as many as two games, it doesn't matter for one of the competitors if they win or lose. Even in the case where all the games matter, ties need to be broken with arbitrary rules that are inconsistent from competition to competition, which make the tournament more difficult to follow. The good thing about the OSL/GSL format is that all 5 games matter no matter what, and the people who advance have beaten the people who don't.

....Dreamhack doesn't use bo1. And they easily have time for bo3 w/ the GSL setup as it should take exactly as long as their current one.

Comparing the groups at DH to the groups at GSL, all the players play each other once. If that's not what people mean by bo1, please explain what they mean.

bo1 = best of 1 = playing a match is only 1 game. They play a best of 3 against each opponent.

Ok I wasn't thinking straight.

Going to xpost this from reddit so as many people as possible see it

I want to set up an on-site livestream @ DreamHack to show the event to people at home. I need help

Ok, so here's the plan. A lot of people have been requesting that the main DH stream show some actual event footage inbetween matches. I'm not affiliated with DH (I'm purely a spectator), but I want to try and help out.
If DH gets their wireless fixed (atm it's a bucket of junk) I'll do my best to try and provide a livestream of the event, rather than just the matches.
I need some help though; atm I've got an iPhone 3GS and a laptop /w webcam at my disposal, which means shitty image quality. Also, if you guys want interviews (which would be super awesome to do) it would be nice to have 1 or 2 redditors at DH that can help me out.
In short, if you've got an iPhone 4 or better (really, any smartphone with a good camera will do) or want to talk to people on camera, we can set something up. If you're local and have a working 3G connection, even better.
Hit me up on PM or @ seat 68:43 at DHW (Hall D).

Let's get something rolling

bo1 = best of 1 = playing a match is only 1 game. They play a best of 3 against each opponent.

This is only possible because they have 3 games running at once. It'd be really lame if you had to miss out on 2/3 GSL games.

Grack and Stephano is out, neither played well. Overall I'm happy with those that has gone through, no "upset" in terms of day form.
