Forum Index > StarCraft 2 Tournaments |
Here we go again. This weekend is about good games and good fun. Don't rain on that parade. Play nice guys. Here's the very standard and friendly: - NO Balance Whine. - NO Player Bashing. - NO Caster Bashing. - NO BM whatsoever. Breaking these rules (from pg 166 forward) will be met with severe punishment.

You're just going to ignore players like MMA, DRG, Puma, etc. who have proven themselves to be code S caliber despite struggling with code A and B. Naniwa has done well in numerous tournament settings over the course of the year and only seems to be getting better.

Just looking at this shit makes me an instant fanboy. Did Leenock go through Nestea? Did Leenock go through MVP (even though it was MLG Global Invitational)? And Naniwa went through Huk, and DRG as well, both beating them same as Leenock did. Are you seriously trying to discredit Naniwa from almost winning? Naniwa played very well too, and I think he would've deserved to win MLG if he beat Leenock. Leenock indeed deserves the win though, but don't discredit another good player like a fangirl.

As a spectator, I personally hated every single game Leenock played against NaNiWa. I understand "It's a tournament, he does what it takes to win" but watching a Roach Rushx3 +7pool series is NOT entertaining to me. I'm not a Leenock fan in the first place, and while I'm not a NaNiWa fan either, it sucks to see someone go down like this. I personally feel really bad for NaNiWa. He gets told by NesTea pre-game that he's going to crush him, after he already beat NesTea once, proceeds to pause for a confirmation on the map, and gets hated on. Wins the series, finally comes out of his shell a little on-stage, and gets vilified for it. I think this quote from Slasher says a lot: NaNiWa has had people rooting against him from Day 1 of this event, and it just kept compounding. You could see on stage after he became the villain of the weekend, he kept his words and emotion to a minimum, and to hear the crowd being against you every game can really hurt your mentality. Congratulations to Leenock for winning MLG Providence 2011, he came from the Open Bracket and did the seemingly impossible. I'm personally hugely disappointed in the MLG Providence audience as a whole, and the ESPORTS community for their NaNiWa hate this weekend. Leenock outplayed NaNiWa in the finals, that's a given, but the play was not inspiring or exciting for anyone who isn't a Leenock fan. NaNiWa accomplished something no foreigner has ever done, or was expected to do this weekend, and got nothing but vilified for it. Good luck in the Blizzard Cup to both players, best of luck to NaNiWa in Code S next season. aLive better crush Leenock this season. + Show Spoiler + 2000th Post Naniwa gained a ton of fans. What is this melodramatic bullshit all about? I agree with you mostly, but stop with the world against Naniwa rubbish.

Leenock abused Naniwa's inflexible playstyle, hence he is the better player. Hell, if Naniwa had used the same builds, but preserved his probe or hidden a second one on the map to scout, much of Leenock's aggression wouldn't have worked.

Maybe if nani didn't Nexus or forge first every single game. People hate on Leenock, what is he supposed to do?? let Nani get 4 collos than attack?? Maybe everyone should let MVP go 3 CC before Barracks and play a long macro game. IT's a smart thing to do...

On November 21 2011 11:15 FireSA wrote: lol his mindgames were terrible. He went the same build every game. Naniwa in the last game was attempting to adjust to the mindgames, assuming that Leenock would in fact mindgame and open hatch first (as somebody suggested he might do to super mindgame Naniwa) except Leenock did not. He didn't think that far ahead, it was in fact more of a case of "When in doubt, cheese, always get another shot anyway if it fails". Played to win, won, but was not the better player imo. Actually Leenock was going for a simple speedling open in that last game, and probably in other games too (his drones were removed from gas before scouting the nexus first). It's not a cheese if it has a 90% success rate vs a certain build. 6 pooling vs instant triple expanding isn't cheese, it's a hard counter. Leenock's build was similar in the sense that he knew he would always come out at least even and probably ahead if he executed correctly.
