Here we go again. This weekend is about good games and good fun. Don't rain on that parade. Play nice guys. Here's the very standard and friendly:

- NO Balance Whine.
- NO Player Bashing.
- NO Caster Bashing.
- NO BM whatsoever.

Breaking these rules (from pg 166 forward) will be met with severe punishment.

Leenock deserves the win. Naniwa needs to play more styles and not just forge expand.

lol. Leenock actually is destroying TL. I'm impressed.

This puts Nani in an interesting position. An awful, awful lot of people are going to claim he doesn't deserve the code S he gets from this. The Nestea drama, getting bounced from code A a billion times, and his compete failure to adapt in the final games there... none of that looks good.

I think he has one shot, and one shot only when he walks into code S. If he proves himself, he deserves it. If he's bounced again, I think that's just about it for him in the court of public opinion, especially to the netizens.

Don't be so dramatic. He proved himself many many times. He does not have to "prove" himself anymore. And you do not speak for "netizens", do you? You certainly don't speak for me. Where do you come up with those definitive afirmations: "that's just about it for him in the court of public opinion"? Please...

He deserves Code S. I just don't want him there.

Actually I agree with the first poster.

If Naniwa bounces a 4th time, it's not exactly something we can ignore.

Seriously? You're just going to ignore players like MMA, DRG, Puma, etc. who have proven themselves to be code S caliber despite struggling with code A and B. Naniwa has done well in numerous tournament settings over the course of the year and only seems to be getting better.

On the bright side, how many more would it take him to join SC2's kong line?

Amazing games, and especially incredible play from Illusion, HayprO, NaNiwa and Leenock, who all really surprised me with results and games that were beyond any of my expectations for them.

Like Naniwa once said in some Interview. If everything goes his way he can win. But if it doesnt, its pretty hard.

2-0: Huk
2-0: MVP
4-3: DRG

Honestly, how can you even say Naniwa deserved to win that? Just looking at this shit makes me an instant fanboy.

Did Leenock go through Nestea? Did Leenock go through MVP (even though it was MLG Global Invitational)? And Naniwa went through Huk, and DRG as well, both beating them same as Leenock did.

Are you seriously trying to discredit Naniwa from almost winning? Naniwa played very well too, and I think he would've deserved to win MLG if he beat Leenock. Leenock indeed deserves the win though, but don't discredit another good player like a fangirl.

Been a great event, some really high level games, I'm sure a lot of the players made a lot of new fans. Best MLG of the season in my opinion and a great one to end on! It's late in Europe now so I'm done!

Well, Leenock wins MLG Providence 2011 after an epic run, congrats to him.

As a spectator, I personally hated every single game Leenock played against NaNiWa. I understand "It's a tournament, he does what it takes to win" but watching a Roach Rushx3 +7pool series is NOT entertaining to me. I'm not a Leenock fan in the first place, and while I'm not a NaNiWa fan either, it sucks to see someone go down like this.

I personally feel really bad for NaNiWa. He gets told by NesTea pre-game that he's going to crush him, after he already beat NesTea once, proceeds to pause for a confirmation on the map, and gets hated on. Wins the series, finally comes out of his shell a little on-stage, and gets vilified for it.

I think this quote from Slasher says a lot:

@Slasher
Rod Breslau
Just spoke to Naniwa, he's sad the crowd boo'ed him, will bottle up his emotions till he wins the championship. Leenock wants a shot. #MLG

NaNiWa has had people rooting against him from Day 1 of this event, and it just kept compounding. You could see on stage after he became the villain of the weekend, he kept his words and emotion to a minimum, and to hear the crowd being against you every game can really hurt your mentality.

Congratulations to Leenock for winning MLG Providence 2011, he came from the Open Bracket and did the seemingly impossible. I'm personally hugely disappointed in the MLG Providence audience as a whole, and the ESPORTS community for their NaNiWa hate this weekend.
Leenock outplayed NaNiWa in the finals, that's a given, but the play was not inspiring or exciting for anyone who isn't a Leenock fan. NaNiWa accomplished something no foreigner has ever done, or was expected to do this weekend, and got nothing but vilified for it. Good luck in the Blizzard Cup to both players, best of luck to NaNiWa in Code S next season.

aLive better crush Leenock this season.

Naniwa gained a ton of fans. What is this melodramatic bullshit all about? I agree with you mostly, but stop with the world against Naniwa rubbish.

lol his mindgames were terrible. He went the same build every game. Naniwa in the last game was attempting to adjust to the mindgames, assuming that Leenock would in fact mindgame and open hatch first (as somebody suggested he might do to super mindgame Naniwa) except Leenock did not. He didn't think that far ahead, it was in fact more of a case of "When in doubt, cheese, always get another shot anyway if it fails". Played to win, won, but was not the better player imo.

And if Naniwa didn't go for the same build every game then the aggression would not have worked. Leenock abused Naniwa's inflexible playstyle, hence he is the better player.

Hell, if Naniwa had used the same builds, but preserved his probe or hidden a second one on the map to scout, much of Leenock's aggression wouldn't have worked.

The only people crying in this threads are naniwa fans and swedish people.

Maybe if nani didn't Nexus or forge first every single game. People hate on Leenock, what is he supposed to do?? let Nani get 4 collos than attack??

Maybe everyone should let MVP go 3 CC before Barracks and play a long macro game. IT's a smart thing to do...

Actually Leenock was going for a simple speedling open in that last game, and probably in other games too (his drones were removed from gas before scouting the nexus first). It's not a cheese if it has a 90% success rate vs a certain build. 6 pooling vs instant triple expanding isn't cheese, it's a hard counter. Leenock's build was similar in the sense that he knew he would always come out at least even and probably ahead if he executed correctly.

I kinda like leenock looks like a nice and happy fellow but i hate his strategy early game, maybe it's the only way to win against naniwa at this mlg!

What else do you do against protoss Forge FE? Just let him have it? You have to be like that in the early game to punish it severely.

Taking a fast third also works very well against FFE- we've seen plenty of zergs win like that.

FFE in PvZ is as standard as hatch first in ZvT. I don't know why people are suddenly up in arms and complaining that it's insanely greedy.

Boxer beats yellOw with 3 bunker rushes, fans react with max applause and talk about it for years to come. Leenock does ZvP equivalent, gets labelled a cheeser.

And the funny thing is....Leenock has shown amazing long macro games this weekend as well. People just like to put labels on others.
