Here we go again. This weekend is about good games and good fun. Don't rain on that parade. Play nice guys. Here's the very standard and friendly:

- NO Balance Whine.
- NO Player Bashing.
- NO Caster Bashing.
- NO BM whatsoever.

Breaking these rules (from pg 166 forward) will be met with severe punishment.

hmmm, nani playing well right now, but the real test is to see how well he does in kr on their home turf. so far, foreigners performance gsl wise is quite disappointing, like they can never quite get comfortable and play well there so let's wait before we call him the best x.

I agree. Let's not forget that the GSL format is extremely different from the MLG format, that can make a huge difference.

TL literally can't go 3 minutes without attempting to rank players.

I don't know why people care so much about ranking them either. What do you get from it?

It's a fun topic of discussion.

It's also futile as the very topic is fickle.

it's also fun because we are starcraft fans and this is what sports fans do.

Think of how annoying and stupid the average sports fan is. Is it really such a nice thing that esports fans are becoming similar?

Guys, Naniwa has fixed Protoss woes. Make lots of units off 2 base and attack! If MC were playing like this and winning, people would be complaining about 2 base all ins. Artosis is a hypocrite if he thinks this is actually how to play the game.

If this is the way to play the game, then I don't know what to say.

If it indeed turns out that this is the best way to play Protoss, you should probably blame Blizzard for designing it like that.

I think Hero has shown what true macro toss style should look like. Game 1 vs Ret was simply pure art.

Some people like watching good games, and a lot of people don't think 8 minute games are good.

I would LOVE to see you go up there and force a 40 minute game on 5-6 bases. Against DRG. At MLG. For $50,000.

Would you risk that amount of money, just to prove that you can go up to 5 bases and play a long game?

It's absolutely got nothing to do with that. With how DRG played it would be completely retarded to do anything other than what naniwa did. DRG got himself in a vulnerable position by playing like crap, not making enough units, and letting nani just waltz into his main. You have to know that if you go for a fast third and deny a first strike, protoss is DEFINITELY going for some sort of 2 base allin. It could have been colossi, immortals, blink stalkers, stargates, ANYTHING would have killed DRG in that situation, because he didn't take enough defensive measures and instead decided to build a spire. You go Spire once you know you're going to have enough time to tech up to it, not when you know for sure your opponent is going for a 2 base timing. It's ridiculous how bad DRG's build was in that metalopolis game.

I never said it's not a good strategy, I said I don't think it's fun to watch.

Sure if I'm playing I'll do whatever to win, but as a viewer I don't like watching games like that.

Why continue to watch then? If you don't like it you have every right to turn off the stream and do something else, rather than complain about it.

Cause I don't know what's going to happen before the game is played?

So crazy. I think its plausible that Naniwa is the best player in the world right now, I don't know what else to conclude from these results.

One tourney doesn't make you the best player?

exactly.
it's impossible to gauge who is the "best" due to the sheer volume of tournaments

I find it hard to call Naniwa "the BEST foreign player" or "the best player in the world" only because of these results.. even if he wins the whole thing, because he was seeded so highly, he has only had to play 3 bo3s which is not quite a lot. Surely he played the 2 bo3s against MVP and Nestea on Friday in the MLG open and defeated them both. Having defeated Nestea twice now, that's quite a feat, but I still think there are way more players out there that could challenge his call for "the best player in the world."

If Naniwa had been running through the Open Bracket in this tournament, and gotten this far, I would be more likely to give him my vote for "the current best player in the world," but still!

Guys, help me understand the confusing schedule.

In this very thread it says:

19:00 EST (-05:00) - 20:30 EST (-05:00) Championship Finals

Ok, so finals are at 7pm.

But then:

06:30PM - 07:30 PM Champ Losers Finals

Help.

Just keep watching. The next two games are the LB and Grand finals (DRG vs Leenock followed by Naniwa vs winner of DRG/Leenock). Should begin shortly.
