To be fair, there aren't 12 real GSLs per year, unless we count things like AoL or the Super Tournament as being the same.
He said it's basically the same thing, which is true ? He could have added that OSL is more prestigious because it happened less often but I don't see how it's wrong.

As a special present we will issue the premium ticket for free to all our loyal supporters who have bought every season ticket since Open Season 1 until now (including GSL October):
July has a 3rd now, but seems he didn't catched up on the recent zerg that creep their own main for drop defense. Mutas inc, Boxer still on 2 bases, but July loses some mutas flying sloppily over marines. Boxer hid a base cross pos from July, at 12 main.
+1 marine soon finished for boxer, July at 2-1 lings soon. Boxer starts a push. Lings catch a tank and 6-7 marines in the open. Big elevator play by Boxer is cleaned by July.
July starts a 4th at the 3o clock main. July catches a lot of marine while they clear the rocks of his 3rd nat, and clean the whole Boxer's base, gg soon.
All of Boxer's marines are dying from a ling surround. Boxer finally walls with supply depots and lands his raxes, but no marines while lings attacks the wall. 12 scvs for Boxer.
lol I liked how Doa said "the Barrack nerf of 5 seconds doesn't really matter", and then RIGHT after that, Boxer's bunker was about 2-3 seconds from finishing.
2 rax 2 fac for Boxer who finally lands his 2nd CC. Spine at the ramp for July who is 44 drones vs 26 scv now. Evo and bane pit on the way. Blue flame and shield on the way. Lair is finished, spire started.
Macro hatch and no 3rd for July. Boxer wants to pressure, he cleans a lot of tumors but his push doesn't looks that threatening, and as I say that he gets cleaned by banelings and lings.
Boxer finds another observer and scankill it. Nani adding gates but his timing window is closing more and more. More rax and more gates on the way. 2 colos done and lance upgrading. Nani starts a 3rd.
Nani could stomp boxer but he doesn't know yet. Another CC building for boxer. His drop is denied but Nani retreats when he could have thermal lanced the packed MM. 3rd canceled. Nani turtling and it's the worst possible decision he could take.

yea i think if he had pushed with his collo boxer woulda only had 2~4 vikings
Nani is waiting that Boxer have ghosts and critical mass of vikings to attack, how nice of him. Blink and storm on the way. Immortals on the way. Boxer moves out.
Big engagement, Boxer sends ghosts first, they emp the army but not the templars, all ghosts get killed. Nani lands some emp, but he has no answer to the vikings who kill all his colossi for free. Finally the stalkers arrive, Nani pushes Boxer to his 3rd and force a lift before he has to retreat. Boxer 193 nani 163.
Boxers cloaked ghosts emp everything because no detection for nani, but nani micros his stalkers and kill all the vikings before they kill the colossi, and nani kills a lot ! Nani pushes out to Boxer's 5th and destroy it before retreating. Mass archons morphing but nani needs an observer to counter cloaked ghosts.
What do you do when you're 60 supplies ahead? Sit back and do no pressure until the opponent catches up, then engage in a max vs max battle against protoss death ball...
Good engagement for nani, kills a lot but then his army focus on scv and building while marauders are pounding on them. Boxer loses his 5th again, is mined out everywhere except his 4th. Nani too. Boxer's army is already remade with his 50 raxes, this is still very close. Send 4 zealots to the 4th nani please !
Naniwa being so careful with his HTs - pulling them waaaaay back from the battle front so they don't get EMP'd, even if it means his storms are a little late
Nani gets sucked by a fake push, when he pursues Boxer kills his only mining left, but nani has mega masstemplars and is killing everything, his on Boxer's production now !
Wow Nani will lose this No one is mining but boxer is floating a CC. Nani has is whole army in Boxer's simcity natural, Nani rebuilding his top base. Nani gets cleaned but he has a base mining and another base building, this is not over despite what I said first.
Haaaaaa Naniwa 5th gets sniped but he kills the whole force, even trade I'd say. Not sure if nani is mining right now ? Feedback vs snipe war, but the observer is sniped ! No detection from nani and a horde of cloaked ghosts are sniping and emping everything. Nani long distance mining, Boxer's mining. boxer sends a deathsquad to nani's 4th and he arrive as soon as nani starts his 4th, but he cancels ! Big engagement, nani storms everything and clean it ! omg what I am seeing.

That's the most frustrating thing for me as a viewer. P not pushing when T doesn't have sufficient viking count for Colossi. Of course it's only because I see both sides. But frustrating nonetheless.
if Naniwa realized Boxer is not mining and can't build anything anymore, he could've just guard the probe with his army until he can build something else.

if it was pvp or pvz and the opponent snuck a fast 3rd, was up on upgrades and 60+ supply ahead Nani would not have won the game. Boxer had perfect unit comp the whole time but miscontrolled slghtly in most engagements and almost lost.. doesn't seem right to me, but oh well was a fun game.

Stop complaining about balance. Terran is balanced around being able to float. If they couldn't, they would of had something else, which would of probably helped boxer win that extremely close game.
And beside, it was Naniwa's fault, all he had to do was keep his last army with his last probe. Once he gets 50 mineral, he can get a 2nd probe and it just snowball from there until he gets enough for a Phoenix.

If Boxer was in Nani's position he would have kept his army together at any opportunity instead of sending out small squads to their deaths in order to snipe the nexus and probes.
Hope nani is more aggressive, it's like in his code A match when he turtled each time he had an advantage, to the point of not having an advantage anymore.

Races are different. they have different mechanics. Its one of the good things about the game, even if it gives Terrans an extra draw every once in a while. But then again, if the game is balanced, the balance will also include those occasional draws

Uhm, no, it is the exact opposite. Back in -97 when the legendary Bill Roper pictured in his head an RTS where you had 3 completely different but still balanced races and made it work, it changed the RTS scene forever. What you are looking for is something like Warcraft 2 where Healing and Bloodlust was what separated the races, and that was exactly what Bill wanted to change.

Boxer vs Naniwa on Daybreak Part 2
4:00
Nani on the right, Boxer on the left. Both go for super fast expansions!
6:00
Boxer building a bunker at his natural choke and going up to three racks and pumping marines. Takes both his main gases. Nani sitting on one gateway and researching warp gate. Ahead 33 probes to 24 SCVs.
7:30
Naniwa throws up 6 gates and is making sentries. Boxer is upgrading stim and is sitting on 11 marines and beginning maruader production out of 2 racks.
Nani is pushing out with 1 stalker to scout.
9:00
Now Naniwa is moving out with more and more stalkers, hes up to around 8 stalkers and 5 zealots. Boxer has two bunkers and 3 racks one with reactor. He is upgrading +1 and concussive shells.
Nani moves in on the bunkers and throws up nice forcefields behind the bunkers! Kills 1 bunker and outranges the second bunker with his stalkers and loses all his zealots.
11:30
Stim finishes as Nani pulls back, nani warps in 9 zealots and moves in as Boxer rebuilds his second and third bunker. At the same time Nani makes a third base and sits outside boxers base.
Boxer begins medivac production, combat shields, and +1 armor. Nani begins charge and robo.
13:00
Boxer loads 2 drops with 3 mauarders and a bunch of marines and is dropping behind the main mineral line of Nani forcing a pull. The army comes back and the probes come back early and Nani loses some probes. Nani is able to snipe one medivac as well. The worker count is 54 SCVs vs 52 probes.
Nani's third is done, Boxer's just starting.
15:00
Triple drop is repelled by stalkers and Nani is sitting in the middle of the map looking for those triple medivacs and there is an engagement with the three dropship hit force. Boxer pulls back and finishes his ghost academy and is sitting outside the main with the three dropships as Nani waits with stalkers.
17:00
+2/+2 on the way for boxer +2 attack for Nani. Nani finishes storm, a few templar and his Robo Bay and begins TRIPLE coll production AND thermal lance.
18:30
Yes I said TRIPLE. Boxer is getting +3/+3 and +1 air attacks, but no vikings on the field. +1 only finishing. Boxer has a large MMM force and a ton of ghosts. Nani is hiding SIX colossus and Boxer has NO vikings that I can see.

Second game Naniwa managed to do what he didn't in the first game - keep the bulk of colossi alive and win. First game Boxer just wiped them in seconds with a huge number of vikings, otherwise he would have lost pretty early.
Tripple robo all the way! Nice tech switch from nani, even keeping the first 3 back for the off chance that it takes another few seks to notice em. GJ Nani!
well first game boxer had a hidden expo and was 1 base up all game long and then it was close and naniwa would have won if terran wasn't stupid. 2nd game naniwa 'failed' a 6gate and played from behind but boxer didn't play according to the situation and tried some huge doom drops that didn't work and then naniwas 3rd got him back in the game. the surprise colossi won it for him then.

Commentators barely notice until Nani moves into Boxer's ramp. Nani snipes a ton of scvs with 10 stalkers and the 1st bunker. second bunker is late and Naniwa is microing against 1 marines and 10 scvs. Boxer ggs at 7:30.

4 gate has always been a cheese except in PvP.
Only if you're a whiner, really. I'm Zerg myself and I've never ever seen it as a cheese. Heck I don't even know if it properly could be called an all-in either, since you can recover from it without killing your opponent.

Why did it seem like those zealots were doing no damage to the bunker?
SCVs were repairing and the zealots were being targeted down and killed first.
It seemed like there was about 4-5 zealots and like no scvs left, and that bunker just wasn't dying! Haha I'll have to rewatch the vod, but once the stalkers focused it, the bunker dropped crazy fast
First set won by a Protoss! Woo!!! The sad Zealot might begin to feel a glimmer of hope soon.
Also, it's 3:33AM here. What am I doing? I have 7 hours of homework tomorrow. It will be so fun. Maybe I'll just make coffee and start working on it right now. I'm not tired for some reason.

lol now every 1 base build is cheese/all-in?
come on guys, lets not kid ourselves, 4 gate is a all in. It is a amazing thing to do vs a 1 rax expand however, its a great way to flat out kill a terran who does not build 3 bunkers
Rofl, the casters were like "oooh... it's a 4 gate guys!" When like 10 stalkers and 5 zealots were already whacking at the bunker for good 10-20 seconds. Oh so much love for moletrap+Doa

I'd more compare it to a 9 or 10 pool than a 6, but hey-ho.

The difference between 4 gate and cheese like 6 pool is that you can deny the scout.

It's a catch 22, if you let zerg go without making units, they will get too strong an economy and be unstoppable before you can get a third. If you push out with sentries, you're 90% likely to lose them because you can't retreat from Zerg. So you push in and try to last as long as you can to prevent zerg from making drones. You're basically at a loss either way
A 4gate is not necessarily an all-in. There are a couple of variations (probe-cut, gas timing, etc.), HongUn transitions easily out of this by denying terran expansion.
Also, i remember when TLO played random he often simply 4gated as protoss and won in the lategame. Gamesense ftw.

However, nice blink micro repels the roach force. July has not scouted the third yet. July is making 8 mutas and scouts the third.

July is going for 14 gas 14 hatch, nani goes 12 gateway assimilator.
5:00
Ling speed starts immediately, 4 lings clear out Nani's probe, Nani is building sentries and is posturing for 1 gate expand. July is making more lings, going up to 10 lings and 2 queens and speed finishes.
7:00
Nani cannot expo and is forced to back up his ramp by 10 or so speedlings, and he is putting up three more gates and is sitting on 8 sentries and puts up the nexus as July starts his lair and a roach warren.
9:00
July has 40 drones vs 27 probes of Nani. However, Nani is moving out with 6 zerglings 2 zealots and 7 sentries. July has two spines at his front, and has several roaches and Nani decides to engage and loses 5 sentries and after missing some forcefields.
However, July has speed and burrow finishing soon.
11:00
Nani's army is killed and a spire begins for July zerg and starts +1 ranged attack, as Nani starts +1 attack as well, he throws up 1 cannon at his natural and 2 more gateways going to 5. He finishes twilight council and starts blink.
13:00
The spire finishes as well as the third base for July. So there are 18 roaches and 8 or so mutas getting popped. Nani starts up a robo bay and +2 attack. The mutas start to fly across the map and kill some probes and snipes three stalkers as Nani blinks in and kills almost all the mutas leaving July with 2.
16:30
July finishes a baneling nest and starts baneling speed and baneling production. Nani begins moving across with 20 stalkers and 2 sentries. Nani gets to the third and loses some stalkers to the banelings but kills even more mutas. However, July is able to macro out 18 roaches. Nani is still on 2 bases. However, July is overly agressive and Nani repels Julys attack and chases down the army of July and kills off all but 7 roaches, keeping 20 stalkers alive.

Nani has to cancel his third and is trying to micro his heart out behind his mineral line, and is losing a lot of stalkers. A colossus pops out late and the army is cleaned up, but the supplies are 108 to 68 in favor of july who is making more and more mutas and zerlings. He is up to 12 mutalisks and is harassing the main. Nani only has 5 stalkers left.
Naniwa was doing really well but it seems like he just gets too aggressive and forgets about speedling reinforcements messing up his day. I feel like if he had taken a third after holding off the roaches and macro'd up he'd be in great shape right now.

Exactly!
In fact, if terran has an orbital, they can't go allin because of mules.
if youre not trolling i dont know what to say to you lol.
its kinda sad but its close to true since doing 111 terran can take most of his scv's with first push and still be able to support his production with reminder or scv's and mules hence the 2nd push is as strong as the first one

you dont want to army trade with zerg with protoss because they will always come out ahead, terran can trade well because marines are so efficient, stalkers are expensive though. that's why people always open FFE nowadays, 3 gate expand -> pressure -> trade army

I don't get it, zerg 6 pool so often on this map, DRG vs JYP, another recent game i can't remember and I have also seen it so often on stream. Nani puts a pylon at his main and the zerglings run past the forge and engage the zerglings. Nani completely saves all his probes and loses 0 workers to the zerglings. July kills off the pylon and forge at the choke and July starts up his queen. He is supply blocked at 18 and begins an overlord.
6:00
Pylon blocks July's natural expansion and Naniwa is going up to 2 gases after starting his cyber core. July takes the natural at 24 supply and the counts are 19 Drones vs 23 Probes.
8:00
July is able to scout the base as Nani goes up to three gateways. Speed begins for July and 2 zealots repel three lings, and ignore them and move towards the base of July. July is forced to make 12 zerglings and Nani makes a nexus and kills off half the zerglings and loses all his zealots. July throws up roach warren. Nani is building a gatway wall, with no Forge.
10:00
10 Roaches begin as Nani's 4th and 5th gate come to a close. NAni is sitting on like 8 sentries, and three or so zealots. Nani is moving out for some reason with all his sentries and is slaughtered losing everything.
12:30
However, he has a warp in and July zerg does not follow up the attack and builds 10 drones a macro hatch and an infestation pit, and overseer. Drone = 58 vs 44 Probes. Game freezes a bit.
14:00
Okay, so Nani gets into the base and warps in a ton of zealots in the main. Uses the macro hatch to micro against the roaches. Nani has tons of gateways and is macroing against just roaches with no infestors on the way. Nani keeps warping in more. The game freezes again. However, burrow is finished for july zerg.
Now he starts 5 Infestors and roach speed.
15:00
Infestors are done and they are throwing up fungles but he limits the drone count to 35 and the game looks pretty even. Robo finishes and twilight council begins with an observer.
17:00
Incoming attack with all thoseinfestors and roaches, no fungals and all infested terrans and July is over agressive and loses nearly all his roaches, but retains all 5 infestors. Blink begins for Naniwa and the game is fairly even.
19:00
5 more infestors coming out from July. Immortal production and +1 attack begins and July begins his third. He moves out to scout the third of Nani and has 10 infestors at the front of Nani's natural.
21:00
Well, Korean zergs apparently never use fungal, and 10 infestors worth of infested terrans are held off because they are not a single army. Nani is on an infestor hunting mission that are burrowed he kills 1 or 2. He loses the trail and begins colossus.
23:00
More and more infestors started, July is going into the third and forces a cancel. July has 50-60 lings and 14 infestors. However, one colossus can kill 100 lings and 100000000 infestors and does. So July begins 11-14 mutas and Nani lost a ton of stalkers to the fungals.

Both players on three bases, and July is harassing with 18 mutas. July is sneaking the 3 o'clock. However, blink stalkers are holding off the harassing. July is going for a counter attack to the third with his mutas and lings. The mutas kills some probes, however, loses all his lings and starts 8 more mutas. July snipes most of the cyber core and more mutas harass the natural.
So Nani GGs as he lost a ton of probes at his third.
lol that game was actually so insane so much agression, that game was like, the perfect example of julyzerg, everything from the 6pool to the endless attacks.

Because a fast third is so hard to take for Zerg. If they try, it's very exposed, and if they don't they're pretty much forced into 2 base ling/infestor.
sorry guys, i was such a retard moving out, wouldve won easily if i didnt make that push. didnt realise that he would allin AGAIN. but i guess thats my mistake. will do better in the future.. this was a disgrace
Problem is he couldn't leave his base, yeah he could survive until july had 10 bases against 3. But he should have went for templars, actually huk usually handle those situation perfectly. But dunno if he could tt

Nani was so dead in that game. If he defends his natural, the muta in the main kill the cybernetics and he cant make any more AA. If he defends the main, he loses all probes at natural and he already lost all probes at 3d.

Which one? Repeatedly trying to expand in the most natural location got ridiculously well predicted by both of his opponents today. It looked like they had maphacks; which is just because it is so standard. Is it really better to lose your expansion 3-4 times in a row without getting anything from it?

No big deal, you played great games against July and Boxer, top Korean players. You should be proud of yourself! In future you are only going to be better and better!
July plays zerg exactly the way I'd play if I was Zerg, it's noticeable that he has played BW for a long time. That IdrA macro-style is just terrible vs. Protoss because Protoss macro > Zerg macro, and since IdrA spends all his energy on flaming blizzard and other players, he himself is the stupid one hitting his head against the wall, trying to macro vs. a protoss who has every unit possible to beat a Zerg in lategame. However, Zerg rush aggression à la July beats Protoss aggression ten times.
G1: July used Naniwas impatience against him, instead of Naniwa sitting back, taking an early 3rd and building Colossus, he goes for that reckless foreign blinkstalker stupidity (the same as HuK was doing yesterday, silly style) vs. a 3 base Zerg right into Julys trap. July's like "sure, please, go ahead and attack me, I can remacro much faster than you". And thats what he did, GG. G2: July completely cornering Naniwa and putting super infestor aggression. What do you do as a protoss vs. 30 infested terran? Yeah, thats right, Colossus. So Naniwa builds colossus, guess what? July has like 20 mutas waiting for them. GG.

I kinda love your attitude but I kinda hate it too. It's good to keep the fire inside going, but give yourself credit where credit is due; both games where incredibly close and could've easily swung the other way. I understand that your goal is to be able to defeat these damned koreans, but you are getting there man. It was by no means a disgrace. Thanks for the games and GG.

Your rather narrow minded aren't you, there is not only 1 way of playing style, if there was every one would do exactly the same. July's aggression has as much or according to some even more weaknesses then macro vs P/T.
every one has it's own opinion as what is best, and that makes for great games.

Could someone explain game 1 of Boxer vs NaNiwa to me? I still have no idea how the game turned out the way it did. Like, wasn't BoxeR up over 60 supply and had superior upgrades and macro all game long?

If it does end up to be MKP vs July, that would be EPIC too. I think MKP might actually win. But it tends to be that when he might be able to win, he gets second xD
But if it's MKP vs DRG, I don't think I'll like that too much. MKP is a really great player of course but I'm not sure if he will be able to beat DRG. MMA vs July would be just lulz xD

his ZvZ is definately his weakest matchup, though we havnt seen him play that matchup for quite a while. Artosis tends to exaggerate about playstyles that he dosnt like(like his opinions about hongun), i wouldnt say its awful.

July's problem with ZvZ is that it's a matchup where being as aggressive as July likes to be often seems to be bad beyond the Ling/Bling stage.
Last televised ZvZ of July was his match lost vs Nestea on Crevasse in GSL August I think ? They were even matched in a long game until July impaled his ultras into spines roaches, but it looked better than his usual ZvZ. It's a long time without seeing his ZvZ, perhaps he's way better now.

You played awesome, and showed really great decisions as P that others have been unable to. Hopefully you find something else that clicks soon, and you're able to move into the dominating position you deserve!
nani you are playing better and better. i was absolutely amazed by all your games !!
i think you had the game on taldarem altar !! it's insane that you came back even after loosing all those sentries. i guess you should have realized sooner that july zerg just all-ins all the time T.T
also at the end i think few literally 2/3 more stalkers u would have been fine T.T
