He saw what happened when you underestimate your opponent.Wow, dont want to sound like hater, but whats with big hype that Sjow won, it was one of worst matches lately, and Maka would easily 2-0ed him if he didnt start prematurely BMing with mass gold expo in G2. That could be given away game from textbook, aka what not to do. I mean, if Sjow fans are happy with how he played this match....dont know what to say which will not get me banned. But hf in next round, vs some half serious opponent. You simply can't muck around against a player of Sjow's calibre, it'll get you killed and lose you the game. Maka had to learn that the hard way today. edit: but please by all means, I encourage everyone to keep talking up the Koreans and keep talking down the non-Koreans, as long as it leads to Koreans underestimating and ending up losing kekekeke

The first game he just fell apart to banshee harass, 2nd game his opponent though he was funny and SjoW told him no. 3rd game SjoW beat him straight up holding off an all-innish build and trying to play a macro game. I'm proud that he didn't fold under pressure and I don't particularly like him as a player. HF being negative about someones accomplishment. If's and but's don't win you games.. Throwing away a games due to continous mistakes is way more embarassing than just beeing worse than your opponent. SjoW might not be the best player, but SjoW sure is one of the more consistant foreigner names, and that deserves alot more respect that he is getting on this forum. Edit; sorry qouted the wrong guy, show the nested one and it will make more sense. ![]()

He said, he represents foreign scene, so yeah, SeleCT is foreigner. dealwithit.jpg The same way that Huk Considers himself Korean yet ppl still call him the foreinger hope. Funny how this works eh. Where and when did Huk say that he represents korean scene?

It's different from BW, so we shouldn't use outdated terminology (imo). But it's a hard to break habit (especially because most of the popular commentators come from BW, keep using it and thus "teach" it to newcomers) so it keeps being used and accepted in the community despite my best efforts *sigh*. Maybe if foreigners were on an even footing that would make sense but they aren't.

I don't think anyone is taking the win away from Sjow as much as saying that Maka lost it for himself. I mean yea, Sjow managed to take advantage of Maka's overconfidence in game 2 and then won a pretty standard marine tank TvT because he had the smarts to take a hidden base and some pretty horrible marine micro from Maka. Though the main thing is Maka had the game and series wrapped up and managed to piss it away. I don't think you can argue that Maka cost himself the loss in game 2. Either way, well done Sjow and I hope Maka learns his lesson in getting too confident and comes back next code A ready play some great games.

Did he play the most magnificent series? No. Did he deserve to win? YOU BET HE DID!!! The GSL is not about the "perfect game". It is about 2 players duking it out in a pressure cooker environment with the world watching. It leads to mistakes, but that is what makes it so fascinating! If you want a "mistake free" long macro game, go and watch high level players on the ladder. Is Sjow going to beat Curious? WHO CARES??? He earnt respect by coming to Korea and competing and getting it out of the ro32 and thus securing Code A by at least 1 more season! How many armchair pros are sitting on their lounge chairs saying that the GSL is so easy?

That's not overconfidence that's how Maka plays. He is not a top tier player by any means. People seemed to forget that Makarax wasnt originally a hidden rax, it was a proxy barracks built in a location which will unavoidably get scouted.

Maybe if foreigners were on an even footing that would make sense but they aren't. I disagree. You can still make the distinction between Koreans and non-Koreans, but using "foreigners" for everyone outside Korea implies that the SC2 scene is "native" to Korea, and that's the thought I disagree with. The game has organised professional players all over the world. You don't call Table Tennis players from all over the world foreigners compared to the Chinese, even though Chinese domination in that sport is higher than compared to Koreans/non-Koreans in SC2. That's because while the best players do come from China, the game is played professionally in many countries. (Unlike BW, which had a pro scene in one country only.)
