im curious as to how the NA invites were picked though. idra/kiwi/slush/sheth/tyler are good choices competitively, as they've done well at mlg's and outside competition. destiny is (in my personal opinion) always a good choice because he draws crowds and viewers, and without a doubt isn't a poor player. major is a strong player, but seems to have the majority of the community against him, and really hasn't done anything since his first MLG appearance. and iNcontroL seems to benefit from being JP's friend along the same lines as destiny. he's a person that will EASILY bring in crowds/viewers as he's such a good person for the community, but honestly can't see him winning a series
Great Euro? Hum...
There are many very good EU players, in many country, from many teams.
They choose 8 of them : - 6 from sweden - 1 from Ukraine - 0 from Germany - 0 from Poland - 3 from TL - 2 from Dignitas - 1 Mouz Maybe Sundance and his colleagues dunno EU pro players. I dont reprimand them for that. The show is just much less entertaining and will get less audience.

Horrible invites. I don't think mlg knows the eu scene at all. And if its supposed to be global they should've invited the Chinese and Taiwanese players. This tournament could've been so hyped up, but they really failed with the invites.

No offence to the player but someone can explain me why haypro gets invited to sooo many tournaments? He is a very good player but there are DOZENS of better players. Is it only because he is on liquid?

Yeah i think it's the biggest reason. Same for Hero in the KR bracket. Or Incontrol and Machine from EG in the US bracket.

Is the korean qualifier being played on kr or na server?

You throwing Hero in the same basket as Incontrol or Machine? Check out last MLG results...
Where is MorroW these days btw? Hm.. maybe Nerchio or Stephano instead of Haypo?

I'm guessing he made the logo.

Seeing how Jinro was thrown into EU side, I'm guessing DeMuslim got into EU invite as well and he didn't want to play from US.

EU- Haypro and Sjow

All of those European players deserve to be there. Sure, there are other great players like Nerchio, Nightend, Stephano, Dimaga, Mana etc. But then I can come here and say "hey how could you leave out white-ra, or how could you leave out Sase, or how could you leave out Thorzain.
They picked 8 great players from Europe. Please also do not forget that some of the Europeans could have refused the invite.

I haven't posted before--I'm a lurker--but I have to say the way people are responding to a tournament which looks to have been well put together is disgusting. This is an invitational tournament. The best of the best of the best cannot always compete at every single function. Furthermore, the MLG is tinkering around with the format of their open tournament and next year looks to the be the year when they finally achieve a measure of success in regards to making sure better players get group play spots.
Harping about how [insert player name] isn't on the list and that therefore means the tournament is garbage is the wrong approach. Perhaps it's just as I read this thread that it appears the people who say this seem mean-spirited. I think there's a better way of airing your opinion without slamming people who put money, time and effort into making a tournament. Far better would it be to say "I think you guys are doing a phenomenal job, I'm glad to see MLG is working so hard to incorporate StarCraft 2 as a mainstay in their league. Here's how I think you could improve:..." than "Nerchio isn't in the tournament and iNcontroL is in it again. Fucking joke."
Just poor form.

Just poor form. I don't think the complaining is necessarily directed at just MLG, people are just getting tired in general of certain players getting tournament invites over and over based on their team/popularity instead of any actual results.

looks pretty awesome.

1am starting time is not so great for me...

He is also qualified for WCG korea, and in code A, at the same time actually having MLG ranked points...... + Show Spoiler +I mean just today he 3-0ed xiaot and 3-0ed STC.

6/8 europeans is Swedish :D

Can a European please PM me and tell me why they feel that the European one is bad... Is it really just because there is no stephano? I mean it is much better than nas... (which you can't be mad about, I personally don't know who else you could really invite for na.) Thorzain naniwa and ret are all pretty fantastic players, and people are quick to forget Jinros previous success in MLGs previous and his two GSL runs. Also, Sase beat Naniwa (and ended his unbelievable win streak) for the road to korea tourney and took second place in the CPL. So is it just because you feel that stephano deserves haypros spot or what? Also can someone clareify if these invites have anything to do with ranked points? Because it seems almost everyone invited has been to an mlg besides Sase.

People do need to keep in mind that MLG isn't just straight up not inviting certain great players; believe it or not, some players do decline invites.
