MLG Raleigh Day 1 RED Live Report Thread - Page 387

Forum Index > StarCraft 2 Tournaments

Obligatory public note for all large tournament threads:

The following is a list of behaviors that will get immediate bans:

1. Whining about stream
2. Bashing other games
3. Flaming other users
4. Bashing players
5. Complaining about imbalance.

It is in no way complete. Keep in mind that there's a difference between pointing out that the SC2 and CoD streams were switched and whining about it (same thing on pointing out/asking about stream lag and whining about it, etc.). Also, just because you post something and aren't immediately banned for it doesn't mean you won't get caught. We'll be going through this thread very carefully.

That being said, enjoy today's games!

Time stamp: page 38, 6:23.

That's a good thing. Sheth can actually win this whole tournament but in the last couple MLG's and Blizzard Invitation he screwed up his build order so playing on camera is bad for him. Now he won't forget his spawning pool.

So far in pool play here is how the non Koreigns are doing by team:

Dignitas 10-6
EG 4-10
Liquid 2-8 (excluding Sheth2:0Ret because that is just 2-2)
Root 3-4
FXO 0-4
RGN 2:0

This is everything on MLG's website. Seems Dig is top. EG is 2-0 over Liquid in matches, with only Sheth having won any games for them (2-0 vs moonan). Root, FXO, and RGN, only have one player reporting for them each, but I included them for fairness sake.

Root doesn't exist anymore :o

Not sure what you expected, this has been standard fair since the two streams were introduced. Casters need a break and they can't just broadcast matches with no commentary

Ya TT1. They definitely should be just showing more stuff on the floor until stuff can be sorted on the main stage.

It's funny how people are tourning this into a race issue.. I don't root for players because of their skin color or their nationality (though I will be more interested in - say - swedish players, considering I'm norwegian) I don't have any problems with the better players winning.. it just seems to me that the western SC2 scene is becoming less and less vital the more Koreans show just how much better they are. As someone else pointed out, a tournament is inherently going to be less exciting when you know beforehand that the top finalists are going to be Korean? Why watch one-sided games with less skilled players when you can just go straight to the highest tier and watch the GSL? Why have western tournaments that will in the end only be lining the pockets of Korean players, when we can already observe the highest level of play elsewhere?

To say its going to be a korean final means you are counting out top foreigners like huk/idra/naniwa.. The truth is most people want to watch the best games with the best strategies used and koreans are good because they practice a lot, if you have a problem with this then donate to your favourite foreign team so they can setup a proper team house with good coaching, the fact is koreans are more entertaining to watch..

Without koreans the competition is much lower level and less exciting, why would anyone watch MLG knowing that korean code A players are better than the players participating in MLG? Koreans are essential for the people watching who are interested in high level play.. I guess some people like you don't mind watching mediocre games with average players as long as a foreigner wins? sad.

Okay, thanks for clearing that out.

TLO seems to be out? 3 losses so far? (or two?)

What do you mean out? You don't have to place in any position to make it to the championship bracket... however winning more games places you higher.

Yeah every MLG I wish there was more stuff shown. but I guess the casters need breaks too.

Almost wish there was just a game put on where some observer joins. locks the screen on say... Sheth and we just watch the game from sheths point of view

dont understand why theyd give a casting break to both tastosis + dayhusk at the same time, no one can watch 2 games at the same time.. now would be the perfect time to have 1 team casting a match while the other takes a break

Or software/hardware where they can just broadcast a first-person view of one of the computers on that little stage, instead of trying to sorta see it from the camera's POV.

I'm sorry to say this, but the current korean dominance is killing the enjoyment of western tournaments for me. There's just no one to root for, because no one seems to have a chance.

kiwikaki, naniwa, huk.... what are you talking about?

When is the last time they won? I agree with original poster. I love to see Koreans be in foreign tourney, but not to dominate. Right now we are basicaly giving money away to support Korean esports.

kiwi beat nada today. naniwa is a beast and is practicing in korea now; showing some great improvement. huk is in code s ro8 so.....

k, Rotterdam stated on his twiter that MC alone has about 100k from western touneys, Puma has another 57k. Those two players alone made more from western scene than we did from theirs

he asked who to root for. i gave him names of good players. what are you talking about? your post seems a little xenophobic.

K, please provide the evidence of xenophobia, or are facts so threatening that they count as racism now?

xenophobic is not racism; its fear. your post implies that you fear if koreans are invited that they will keep taking all the prize money. although that may be a rational fear. ;-)

Umm no, try that one again.

dictionary.com phobias are fear.... xenophobia is fear of foreigners....
