Try to keep it positive in the thread please. And stop hating on other games! Respect and show everyone how awesome TL is :D |
As someone who honestly has never watched WoW arena before, how is this hard to understand?
Guys use abilities on each other until the other dudes die. Also it seems like focusing the healers(I guess shamans are the healers?) is an useful skill toi have.
I might not get the finer details(at all) but really guys, dont act as if this was THAT hard to understand.

because why not? Because there's a reason why this doesn't happen in other sports/events? It happens all the time? No it doesn't.
The losing coach and players are almost always interviewed, what are you talking about?

Especially when the camera gets stuck at a bunch of boxes causing it to zoom all the way in until all you see is a blurry firework of some spell-effects. :/ It helps to play as a healer: stare at health boxes! this is why WoW has rather little potential to be the ESport for the masses. right?

to any of the old school wow guys here:
in the old MLGs, there were 3 casters: igoaf, vhell, and that short asian guy with the nasal voice
wtf was his name again?

KR has always kind of been a joke in WoW. They're write offs in Blizzcon because they usually always lose to the US and EU teams right off the bat.
The only 'good' team was Orangemarm/Satz/Numberone and they even lost to Dignitas and Complexity.

Doesn't Wow have offline servers for wow arena event?

It's confusing for everyone haha. No, it makes sense for people who play the game and understand pvp to a basic level. The interface being shown displays Crowd control abilities and who's occasionally being focused down. I can follow it, but it's mildly difficult because the casters are super meh. I played at a relatively high level and this shit is confusing as hell. Don't kid yourself, only people who are currently deeply involved in arena can follow this more closely. I know the spells they use but it's almost impossible to see 6 players using spells. Especially when it's lock vs lock. Obviously you can understand a general trend of what's going on and when big cooldowns are burned, but it's extremely difficult to catch the subtle things players are doing, especially with the terrible casting (Soe.) Exactly, I watched some tournaments with VHell and 2GD back in the days and they would actually relay useful information to the viewers so that you could actually follow the more subtle things a bit. Now the only thing I see is lots of flashy lights on the screen and 6 health bars going up and down. I think the easiest way to describe the problem is that I have no idea why that one shaman is outplaying the other, or why one team is training better than the other. With RMP I have a much better sense of what's going on, but again with locks + UI + bad casting I'm a bit lost.

Why don't they stop talking and show games?

No idea but he was constantly well dress and tried to bring proffessionallism to the cast but ended up getting bashed 300% by the AJ forums.

That, and the fact that it's a pretty big jumble of flashy spell effects. I mean, I know what they are, I know what they're doing, and it's still just really bad. Is WoW Arena fun? Yeah. Do people on these forums enjoy it? Yeah! But is it a spectator e-sport on the same level as SC2? No, not even remotely.
I'm glad Blizzard decided not to try and push it as an e-sport anymore. Too bad that means they put no effort into a proper spectator client or casters. Some dude in the thread on the official WoW forums.

Train the healer seems to be a working strategy still -_- To be fair, there was plenty of pressure on the DK and Shaman. Not sure if you played against a real "train the healer" team in BC/WotLK or not, but I have nightmares of a warrior x2 or warrior/dk deathgrip/charging my priest and me and my mage pretending like we can do something about it lol. Its still like that xD. I play a Spriest/Mage/Shaman team and the melee cleave's make me want to cry they just keep charging and life gripping xD. Mind my rating is only 1500.... High rated players understand 90% of whats going on, they even have special size on CC (blind, sheep and fear) so its not that hard to understand whats happening if you play on a ok rating yourself but i can understand for low-rated players and people that dont watch WoW normally dont understand because there are 40-50 spells for every person and there are 6 of them in the arena + pets and totems that do different stuff.

No, its because the game balance and blizzards approach to pvp is terrible, they dont want to make it an esport.
