Nestea can probably beat MarineKing, IMMvp and OgsMc, but he'd be an idiot if he picked them in his group play over other lower tier players. You see why stephano and brat_ok don't want to chose sen? Please wikipedia brat_ok and stephano, you obviously have no idea who they are or what they are capable of. Throwing your theory crafting all over the place. The games commentated by TB and Apollo can be watched on the Powerplay area, except for the final match which will be on the main stage. Ro16 is 11.00-14.00 local time, Ro8 14.00-15.30. Not all of these games will be casted. The finals will all be casted, they're from 18.00 onwards, with the final match at around 23.00.

I think Nestea should be DQd from GSL for choosing low tier players in his brackets during the group picks. They should always take the best one head on.

I agree DQ Nestea for picking monthly 70,000$ over having "competitive spirit". Who wouldn't want competitive spirit?

Picking a group is very different than throwing a game. Of course, given the choice you face the weaker opponent. There's no argument about why they did what they did. It's smart for them. But you can't say it's how a true champion plays. If they really want to win they'd have to beat Sen eventually anyway. I merely pointed out that it wasn't sportsman like or respectful.

Just like MC did by choosing MVP in his group. But wait, he did that because he's good at TvP, MVP is worse at TvP, and that means MVP will most likely get 2nd in group and meet Nestea next round, thus getting an elimination of his his biggest 2 opponents in a finals. That's some pretty good group picking tactics.

Let us say you are competing a 3-round single-elim tourney (8 players). Apart from you there are 3 strong players and 4 weak players. You have a 60% chance of beating a strong player in a series and a 70% chance of beating a weak player in a series. You are clearly the best player there, but if you are unlucky enough to face all 3 strong players you have a 21.6% chance of winning the tourney. If you face 2 strong players you have a 25.2% chance of winning. If you face 1 strong player you have a 29.4% chance of winning and if you never face any strong player, then you have a 34.3% chance of winning. So despite being the best player you want to minimize the number of strong players you meet. You are very likely to meet a strong player in the finals, and you are pretty likely to meet one in round 2, but if you can avoid one in round 1, then you are much better off. Similar concerns obviously goes into meeting Sen even if you believe you are as good or even better than him. This applies even more so when you consider specific strengths. For instance brak_ok is strong tvt so he would like to face Sarens, and Sen is a beast zvz.
