No love for StrifeCro? Haha. But yeah when tournaments aren't mindful of other events going on I'm sure it makes it really tough on the players who want to participate.

Yea I definitely feel for ya man, its just a combination of an extremely tight deadline and very short term notice of the event, so we did what we had to do.
Things will be different for the next IEM events for sure.
There is no prize money per-say, its more of $600 dollars towards travel cost for both of the winners. We are not allowed to offer prize money for this.

Is that $600 per player, or $600 total for the top 2?
Ahh IEM... the major tournament that is so often overlooked. Looking forward to it!
Edit: And just to clarify what I mean by that... IEM is not mentioned nearly as much as tournaments like NASL, MLG and Dreamhack, but it gets people from around the world just like they do.
On July 14 2011 03:20 Influ wrote: Why is this called Americas Championship when its just a qualifier for GC? American Championchip is comming later this Season, isn't it?
Its called that because of championship bracket. Americas refers to North, South, and Central America. There will be an IEM in NYC later this year.
Heh we wish, but unfortunately that's not the way intel wants to do it. $600 for 13th-16th is the travel money As every player who shows up to gamescom is guaranteed $600.
So the winners of this tourney go directly to the global challenge? Barely any1 seemed to know about it, there were almost no viewers, no official casters. Pretty sloppy
Oh lord. Drewbie has been slumping hard lately, but losing to Richman? Him vs IdrA in IPL will not even be funny now T_T Also bad luck for Axslav hitting gosu payam in first round.
Well, that's good that Canada is America. Just joking. Canada could destroy America in a country vs country team match. At least put "represent NORTH America"...

Then Fenix and Killer would be excluded. Since they're from SOUTH America.
Hey any one know what has happened to the stream, it seemed to glitch out with adds and then crashed, hope everything works out fine, looking forward to watching the rest

Does he ever stop qq'ing? Never practices, but still blames his losses on imbalance. Hilarious.
How do you know IdrA's practice schedule? You guys friends?
He has stated repeatedly he doesn't practice much (if at all) and most of it comes on the north american ladder and it's also common knowledge he is right now in the middle of a vaction... so, yeah.

Obviously, that means he never practices. Ever. In the last 6 months.
Seriously? I don't think a 2-week vacation will ruin your gameplay, and he even lost to this stuff before, when he was practicing.
Edit: Also, still waiting for the source. I don't believe you.

He says ladder isn't for practice, he uses it to stream for fans and viewers not for practice. His practice is with his practice partners.

I don't know if your asking that guy for the source of the vacation but idra went to canada after DH and HSC were he was visiting his gf

Okay? Believe what you want.
Okay, then stop throwing around stuff that that as if they are facts if you don't have any proof.
In shape, out of shape, doesn't matter. He is the best that can be sent regardless. I don't know whether he is or isn't "out of shape" common.. he isn't not "active" and he wouldn't be wasting a spot. Get real.

Important Update Unfortunately NamhciR had to forfeit the tournament today due to crazy work hours. We are sad to see him go but he will be in future IEMs. So definitely look out for him!
I don't know if somebody else agrees with this but I can't withstand to hear ONLY the voice and FX sounds and sometimes no sounds at all. It's odd and at GSL they do it and the minority (or maybe nobody) has complained after almost 2 years of casting

Didn't even know this event was going on. D: Wow Agh took out IdrA... very interesting. Agh is such a strange guy... he just kind of floats around posting decent results here and there, but not too much is seen of him.

Can you be more specific? Which stream?
Probably mine, I killed SC2 music. Didn't see anyone complain in chat, PM me on TL or PM me on JTV though, so I don't know why he would expect me to actually know.

why are all these games getting postponed but tt1 wasn't able to T_T
It was an issue on when TT1 wanted to play vs when Killer was able to play. They eventually worked it out and actually got the match done, which is what we prefer. Postpones are not fun for us or the viewers, and with a tight deadline tournament like this it makes it even tougher.
We will conclude tomorrow though no matter what, as we kinda have no choice So look forward to some games!

killer didnt accept the pp cus he said he was too lazy to play tomorrow so i had to play the match on painkillers, i think thats why he didnt gg
It's too bad TT1 ran right into Select's incoming army, I feel like it would've been very close otherwise, and TT1 might've held. It would have been interesting to see where the game would've gone after that.

Pretty sure it was a last ditch budget army to try and take the game because that second to last push TT1 made would pretty much determine the long term winner
Nice play from TT1. I don't understand why Idra didn't gg, he got his 3rd killed by 6 gate even though he scouted it, then falls for a nexus cancel which is a standard option....at least he didn't leave early in game 1, I almost expected it.

Idra had pretty much already overdroned by the time he scouted the 6 gates. the zealots warped in just a couple seconds later. You don't have time to drone up your third if you want to stop a fast 6 gate all-in.

I wouldn't even call that cheese. Nydus countering FFE has been around since beta, it was an All-in, but a really standard one.
Also considered the standard response to a greedy fast expanded protoss is a roach-ling all-in, this was just a clever alternate method to do the same thing. Something tt1 obviously wasn't expecting.

I'd call it cheese because if it gets scouted you're fucked. TT1 not scouting the fast lair was a huge blunder. There aren't many transitions from a denied hydra nydus.

This build actually predated the Roach ling all in, people used this before that timing got worked out. There was a phase of the beta where if you EVER FFE'd the zerg would try to nydus you. If you patrolled some probes it was a free win because of it.

There is no such thing as IdrA "all-inning" he only "counters" people.
Sigh TT1, you even had a stalker waiting, but just couldn't put it a few inches to the right. But I'm fairly impressed with the nydus placement both game 3 and 4

Loner not really notable anymore, he's fallen too far behind. The top Chinese players are the ones that did well in the StarsWar 6 tournament. Lovett, Lovecd, Xiaot are the best Chinese players, and they're all toss. Xigua is also very good, though he didn't make it as far.
Also, the mass early blinkstalkers pvz is a chinese style that's become pretty popular (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=236230)

How many slots are in the main tourney? 16?
16, yep. 7 from Europe, 2 from America, 4 Korean Invites and 1 each from China and SEA. Also the host nation National champion.
Should be 2 more to NA, 2 more to Korea, 2 for China, and 2 for SEA. I know SEA and China together can offer more then a 1 good player a piece ><
But I digress, I understand IEM tries to be European orientated as it's an inherently European organization.
This IEM event has more european slots because it's in EUROPE, american events will have more american slots. besides, anyone outside of Idra and maybe select would go 0-4 in groupstage like fenix/qxc did last time :>
