People keep saying this all-in fails if the initial banshee attack doesn't do much damage, but I've seen it succeed even when a) the first banshee is defended perfectly and does almost no damage; b) the all-in is scouted, the expand is cancelled, and plenty of immortals are pumped out; c) the Terran engages in the worst possible convex against a pre-emptively split Protoss army who slices the army perfectly in half with force fields. You can check out MarineKingPrime vs. Puzzle (who, last I heard, was a pretty decent Protoss!) in the FXO Korean KOTH #3, first game. Action starts at around 9:50. http://www.justin.tv/fxopenesports/b/289875478 Puzzle actually defends the first wave of the all-in perfectly! (the only time I've seen it defended), but loses badly against MKP's second attempt at the all-in. Personally, I don't see anything else Puzzle could have done better, but maybe someone more knowledgeable than myself can give pointers? As far as I can tell, the only solution is rushing colossi, but even then I'm not 100% sure. | ||
