pretty much this .... :-/ he's pretty awesome tho, but that's got nothing to do with it. poor ret. 10 hours flight for 15 minutes of sc2 games. Well, if Ret had won, then that wouldn't have happened... it all depends on if you win or not to make traveling to and participating in a tournament worthwhile, no? Imagine if PuMa had lost instead of Ret. Then PuMa would also have had 10+ hours of flight for 15 minutes. true, ret played a whole season of nasl tho and finished first in the overall statistics, if i am not mistaken. but my post wasn't mainly about ret. more like the format of nasl, which is (at least now in season 1) very flawed. just like the single elimination bo3 grand finals and the like. No just think about it, if Ret is so good that he finished first in overall statistics during the league, what does that make Puma who eliminated him and is now in the grand final match?
Almost everything can happen in a bo3 single elimination, which is not always really meaningful. that's why the double elimination has become so popular these days.

Why does this horrible "american dreams" commercial run every 10 seconds 5 times in a row?
Anyone get adblock working? Which combination works? I remember FF4 + abp + easylist working but now it doesn't.

I feel sorry for Ret. Yea, not Puma's fault at all, he's playing awesome, but the league championship should have been closed to league members only. Otherwise there's not much incentive to be in the league. First off, Ret would have had to beat him, or a very good player at some point. With how Ret played there were probably only 4-5 players he was going to beat out of the 16 so if it wasn't out in the first round it would have been the 2nd. Also, in the league you are competing for 15 possible spots. Not in the league you are trying to fight through a massive talented open bracket that is single elimination for 1 spot. I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out that you'd want to be in the league, not to mention the notoriety of having weekly matches broadcast which makes sponsors happy and helps grow your name and brand. Bah, shouldn't have even responded to comments. Either you aren't thinking through anything, or I'm getting trolled. Either way wasn't worth the time. it sets a bad precedent though if puma wins then other pros will be like oh well i'm not going to waste my time playing in the league i'll just play in the open and if i can beat everyone in that, then i'll be unstoppable in the tournament you have to understand there's a finite number of hours in the day, and NASL is a huge time-sink for no potential reward, time that could better be spent streaming or playing in smaller cups Actually that is a horrible way to think of it and NO pro would think that way. The NASL isn't a time sink, it is 1 day a week and a BO3. You are WAY better off playing in the NASL, for a chance at 50k, plus publicity which will grow your streams, brands, lessons for players, etc. than winning a bunch of 100-500 dollar cups. Just being on the NASL and seen, getting interviewed, hyped each week, etc. that is all a big deal. I think if you asked all the NASL players if they benefited from being in the league, even the ones that didn't win much, they'd all say def. I bet if you asked them, "Hey you can play in the league again, OR try to win a single elimination open bracket full of Koreans and other top gamers, which would you like to do?" Seriously, read through what you actually wrote, It doesn't set a bad precedent at all. If anything it might have players who think they are better than Puma try to get into the league, so they would have an easier shot at securing 1 of those 15 spots and win the whole thing. And just because you win the open doesn't mean you'll be unstoppable at an event that has some of the best talent in the world. He just happens to be playing really well.
it is a huge time sink for the top players like mc and naniwa. those people get invited to all the best tournies anyways and they have to wake up at odd times and play with latency (a huge disadvantage that becomes apparent when even class A koreans dominate lans)
Id say nasl is great for not so well known players because they get to expose themselves but itd be foolish to not see how it could be annoyingly long for some people.

Sen and IdrA and MorroW are pretty much the only really known foreign zergs
Nerchio, Dimaga, Darkforce, etc are all good but have not stood out and are not talked about much right now
Darkforce would be an underdog win

Puma's had a good run, that doesn't make him the best Terran in the world. MMA won MLG then got hammered in GSL. Puma may win NASL but he hasn't made much impact in GSL either.
MVP's lost a lot of his shine, but I still think at his best he's the current Terran President. Got hammered? He made it to the ST Finals... that's pretty impressive. And then he proceeded to lose to a very strong Toss player in his worst matchup. Not really indicative of anything at all.
MMA got hyped up too soon. Sure he owned a bunch of foreigners at MLG but he got 4-0'd in the ST by Polt . in addition he let his team down in the recent GSTL. I can't remember what else but there have been a few others..in fact I have not witnessed MMA winning a match since MLG Columbus.

imagine what a great insult it would be to all the league players, who spent weeks and weeks playing matches to qualify for the finals, if the open bracket winner takes the entire tournament which is why they should close the finals to league players only.. That's retarded. If Puma's good enough to go through a tough open tournament and beat the best league players at the finals tournament, that just means he would have gotten to the finals anyways. how is it retarded. its supposed to be a league, why is it retarded to expect an actual player from the league to win the event. fine Puma won the open tournament, so place him into the league next season. The league is for 15 spots in the finals, the open tournament is for just 1 spot in the finals. This was always known.
Did he act like it WASN'T known? He's just saying it's dumb, and I kind of agree. Not to take anything away from Puma, he's just doing his best and who can blame him? That said, it kinda takes away from the regular season if someone from the open wins. Perhaps NASL should just consider getting rid of the whole "one person from the open advances to the main bracket" rule?
