Think of it from MLG's pov - its a brand new product that they were already having issues with. The SC2 cast before it was laced with swear words from TLO/MrBitter/Ret which is huge nono and probably already left them uncomfortable. On top of that there are sponsors watching - MLG are promoting it a lot and when you have a loose cannon who has a history of shitting on you (teasing or not - sponsors dont care about that) it looks incredibly bad. I'm not surprised they yanked 2GD - i'm more surprised Slasher convinced everyone to give him shot (after dreamhack). Whats he going to do next - say that Astro is a shit brand and that he only uses Razer headsets? The trust is gone at that point.
I think 2GD is really entertaining, and his BM is pretty funny - but don't pull your bitch-forks out when it bites him in the ass. If the E-sports community isn't mature enough to handle such things without everyone crying about a little joke or some swear words, then I don't foresee a bright future for it, this happens everywhere in the 'normal' world. It has nothing to do with maturity. Its about professionalism.

I can't take this serious after basically growing up with CS :/

The main point is that what he said wasn't particularly harmful nor anything that hadn't been said before by other employees of MLG. Right and they don't do it in the middle of the broadcast - look how professional all the casters are in every single broadcast, even when things are shitting the bed. It's not Homestory Cup, it's not a lan with a stream, MLG always presents itself at super high level of professionalism no matter what happens with stream crashes etc.
If they wanted to be super professional "NO FUN ALLOWED" they should not have hired 2gd then.
Or even these cod blackops guys either.

If this community is gonna start crying about sum1 saying ''that fucked me up'' now, Starcraft II should just vanish because all hope is lost -.- Nobody is crying about it afaik? I didn't see any comments in this thread, apart from the one from Kennigit.

i think kennigit, people are mad at how it was handled. just outright removed him suddenly out of nowhere. for a pretty minor reason. sure you said you would of handled it off air. perfect. after the matches. or even during the matches ask him not to joke about mlg tech problems then afterwards have a talk with him about it. problem solved. everyone is happy. but no they just booted him.

I think everyone has played some type of CoD, but for those who haven't: the game type they're playing is Search and Destroy. It's basically like Counter Strike where one team has the bomb and has to plant it in the time allotted, and the other team has to defend two bomb sites, A and B. Either team can win if they kill all of the other team. Defense can also win if the offensive team doesn't plant the bomb in time or if the bomb is defused. Offense can win if the bomb is planted and it's not defused on time.

Kennigit: Did you watch the stream? Did you find the production quality professional enough to warrant MLG's high-horse stance? I didn't think so.
If anyone freaked out, it was MLG. Nobody gave a shit about that joke, the few who heard it just laughed and got on with it. It wasn't even bashing, it was nothing more than a comparative statement so obvious everyone knew the underlying point the second it was said. If the stream quality had been acceptable compared to other tournaments or community events, it would've been out of place. It wasn't. The ONLY thing MLG should've done here was to ignore it. They caused more harm than that joke would every have done. Do you seriously think a sponsor would think that joke was worse than the quality, production value and MLG's response? No way.

And which would people prefer to see more of? MLG or Homestory Cup? Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like the more laid back approach is what people prefer. Not everyone likes completely neutered casts for the sake of professionalism. I know that for example, when I watched MLG Columbus and saw all the random lag spikes never once being mentioned by the casters I found it really awkward, because it's so obvious that they're being forced not to mention anything about stuff like that for no good reason other than perceived bad PR or something.

Some have more accurate and effective auto-aim than others, CoD has pretty effective auto-aim...
It would be possible to aim without it, some have very minimal magnetism but it makes the game harder.

Makes me wonder why they aren't just playing CS.

Thank you MechKing, for making a post about the actual event going on instead of forum drama.

Goddamn how can you stand watching this? It's just like watching a kill montage with commentary that kinda relates to what you're seeing.

Well way more people watched MLG for one. And guess who the main stream sponsors are supporting? Its not Homestory. I loved Homestory Cup. But its completely different than MLG and any other tournament.

Copied directly from MarkyO's post on reddit but I figure he hit the point best. And it doesn't even include the lashing out from mrmlgclap and BM'ing of TB (who wasn't even involved here...)
Ok MLG look... I don't know who you think you might be... Maybe you've never heard the name James "2GD" Harding but I can tell you this. When you get 2GD to do something you should know what you get. You get 2GD. You get his awesome knowledge of every game he casts and you also get his pure and raw excitement for the game. You also get his personality. His candid humor that shouldn't be taken seriously. It's all just for a bit of fun. That's his personality. And for kicking him off for that one little thing just proves to me that you just didn't don't know who the fuck he was when you asked him. Because when 2GD throws in a few quips in commentary and throws a quick jab at someone and goes back to commentary, not only am I not surprised he said it, It was expected. It's 2GD. I would be disappointed if I didn't get to experience that part of your personality that makes the viewing all that much more pleasurable. And one last thing. I realize this is an MLG thing. Whatever. It's also not a major tournament. No money is on the line. It's all for fun. It's for the celebration of the 4th of July. It's supposed to be laid back. Chill. We're all supposed to be able to laugh and have fun. So when you kick someone for doing what he does best, and you cause this stream to go from fun and in the spirit of things to awkward. You take the celebratory experience out of things. You make me want to just close the stream do something else because I can't stand this "You said something about us and we didn't like it so you're gone" attitude on a day that's supposed to be filled with fun. So take the stick out of your ass will you.
