Okay we're going to start cracking down on people bashing players for no reason. You don't have to like every player, but at least show some respect. (as of page 402) |
Would somebody be so extremely kind to explain these brackets to me? Some people are saying July will face Thorzain for example. How can I tell? I dont understand the black and red lines going up. Then there is the red line before the grand final which is just freaking me out honestly. Please help!
The little lines the go left and then up slightly from say July or MC for instance, means that that player came from whatever is described directly above that bracket, i.e in their case #2 in their pool.
The red lines you see in the later brackets mean that's where the loser of the game goes, while the winner goes where the black line suggests, if that makes sense.
When people say that Thorzain could face July, that is on the basis that Thorzain beats whoever comes out of the round before him (SeleCT or iNcontroL) and then beats Machine and MC. July will also have to beat who comes from the round before him (be that KawaiiRice, Drewbie, Sjow or Moon).
Not sure if it's described perfectly, but it's kind of difficult to portray with text lol.

The losers bracket looks like a hardcore gauntlet with some of the players in there.

The black line should be connected to the rectangles on the top. Thorzain will play the winner of Incontrol - (Select - QXC), then if he wins he will play Machine, then MC, then July.
Red lines: The loser of Naniwa vs Losira will go to the first red '|_' place, and face off the dude who blasts through the upper side. The loser of MMA vs Idra will play the someone from the lower side.
The Big red line: Naniwa - Losire winner will face the MMA - Idra winner, the loser of that match will follow the red line, and play against the one and only dude who made it through the entire lower bracket. That match is basically the LB final if you think about a normal double elinimation format.
Edit: now you have 3 explanations

Zergs doing well, filling out 9 of the top 12 spots so far.

You forgot extended series... Yeah, I'm pretty confused too Never understood why MLG making this so damn complicated either. I have a hard time following.
its actually not complicated at all but it is very hard on the players who have to play a million games :D
just look at the charts or each individual bracket and see the progression of a player.
For example July:
He started in open bracket -> advanced to Pool Play for a chance to get into the Winners Bracket -> Did not rank high enough in Pool Play and was sent to Losers Bracket -> In the Losers Bracket he has to win X amount of games to advance to the final Championship match
Note: X amount of games is determined by how well he did in Pool Play.
Hope this helps.

Then there is the red line before the grand final which is just freaking me out honestly. Please help! The winners bracket (Naniwa/Losira, MMA/Idra) is pretty standard I guess, but we'll get to that later. At the bottom, basically the winners of the matches will progress to take on the next player there. So the winner of Gretorp/Cruncher (actually Cruncher already won, the image is a bit outdated) will play Kiwikaki. Then the winner of Kiwikaki/Cruncher will play Fenix and so on until the last match there - Slush vs Sheth/previous winner. The winner of that will advance and play the winner of Haypro vs Ret/previous winner. After that the person who advances, will play the loser of Losira/Naniwa (note the red line). The same process happens for the lower two brackets and the two winners will play and the loser will be 4th place. The winner advances to play the loser of the Winners Bracket finals and the winner of that game plays the winner of the WB finals in the GRAND finals. Seems quite simple to me. Hope that that explanation helps though. EDIT: To answer your question about Thorzain/July, if Thorzain beats Incontrol/Select(who won against qxc) he plays Machine and if he wins he plays MC (in an extended series though). If he wins he would play July (assuming July won his match).
Thank you kind sir!

I feel that the loser's bracket would be infinitely easier to understand if they just did it right to left, instead of left to right.... sure it's a stupid little change, but that's how everyone else is used to reading these things.
Other than that, wow hype for tomorrow!
MMA / Idra
Potential MC / July rematch.
And even before that, potential Thorzain / MC rematch.
Sucks for TL that all their remaining players are on the same line in the loser's bracket though.

where did you find the entire broadcast?

It worked perfectly yesterday with the recording from friday (two giant 7 hour vods), but they had to shut down the DVR/TIVO/rewinding-tech because it was causing some problems with the live streaming.

i do really like the bracket system i have to say... it has to fulfill other roles than a pure championship bracket.. everyone can join MLG and there should be a good chance one can go up, aswell as there shouldnt be too much pressure in every game, so losing is made softer! good system.

Can anyone tell me what matches were played after MC/Thorzain yesterday? I feel asleep lol.
