I'm not from quebec, but I have to ask why no quebec signups? Would love to see AlexCMoi, Slush, kiwi in this tourney
|
Yeah. What's with quebec...
|
its the gambling laws quebec has I believe. The province prevents the players from collecting their money.
|
Quebec Sweepstakes Law Encourages Sweepstakes Void in Quebec The reason why residents of Quebec are not eligible to enter many Canada sweepstakes is not because the sponsors don't want to advertise in Quebec, and it's nothing personal against any of the residents of that fine province. Rather, many sweepstakes are void in Quebec because the sponsors must follow a stringent set of rules set out by the Quebec government.
For example, in order for sponsor to skip the "void in Quebec" restriction, Quebec sweepstakes law requires that the sponsors must do some or all of the following things:
Register the sweepstakes rules and all advertisements used to promote the contest with the Quebec government at least 30 days ahead of the sweepstake's launch. Pay a fee of up to 10% of the sweepstake's value, depending on who is allowed to enter. Agree to allow the government of Quebec to mediate any lawsuits arising from the contest. Follow strict guidelines about the contents of the sweepstakes rules. Allow the Quebec government to determine if the sweepstake may be changed or canceled once it has started. File a written report after the contest has concluded, attesting that the prizes have been delivered or attempted to be delivered. Agree to follow a number of other rules and guidelines. See the Quebec Sweepstakes Laws.
While these laws are intended to protect the citizens of Quebec, they are also a significant burden of money and resources to sweepstakes sponsors, and the consequences for a mistake are severe. Rather than run the risk of facing legal action if these long and complicated rules are not followed to the letter, many sponsors take the easy route of making their contests void in Quebec.
|
Thanks for the clarification.
Sucks to be in quebec :/
This tourney will be really good though
|
Registration ends in a few days. Lets get this filled up.
|
Updated with the map pool for the event, a few notable updates is using MLG Metalopolis instead of the ladder version, and adding MLG Shattered Temple.

Hi guys, I'm speaking on behalf of sixjaxMajor: He said hes power went out where he lives and there was nothing he could do, he wanted to let you guys know earlier but he really couldnt do anything and he wants to know if theres any chance you guys can help him and out; maybe play the game some other day or something, he really wants to play this tour. Anyways thanks for listening!
|
I saw you guys were broadcasting replays, are you guys broadcasting all of them or just a select few? just curious on certain players I would like to watch ^^
|
Man is it just me or is the site being hella slow/crashing tonight?
Also I think I reported a walkover instead of 2-1 win... no hope of getting the replays casted now oh well.
|
Why is DDE playing protoss?

dde's protoss is better than majority of main top tosses.

I get to play Naniwa today! Hooray!

Are you sure? This is for players living in North America excluding Quebec Perhaps it's a different Naniwa or a fake naniwa :D

so I saw this tournament was double elimination and was curious so does the winner of the lower bracket face the winner of the upper bracket? And if so does the person in the lower bracket have to win 2 bo3's? I couldn't find it in the rules and was curious how thats going to work. Thanks in advance for the response!

Well its boyardee, who was proven to be naniwa and got to 3000 points first on the NA Ladder. Unless someone else is using his account... someone told me it was desrow. I'll just find out later!

Ok stalife you were right.... not naniwa! I know this because I won
|
I've already sent an email to admins, but an additional request:
Can you please stick to your schedule that you have listed on your site and brackets or at least update them instead of sending random emails saying your match is scheduled for tonight?
|
Why did the guy report a win over me I thought the schedule time for winners finals was 6/16 (This Thursday ? )
why all these people trying to talk vicious walkovers in my bracket without contacting me or msging me on bnet or msging me anywhere.......
Wait so when were we supposed to play? the bracket says June 16th but my match list says June 12th which would have been earlier tonight...? I'm so confused, why would the bracket schedule say something different?

they changed it, honestly I would always check your e-mail as I would not have known about it either if I hadn't seen it in my e-mail.
I do wonder if the winners bracket player vs the loser bracket player does the winner bracket have to win 1 bo3 and loser have to win 2? I don't see it in rules so yeah hopefully they read this and say :D.

Well then looks like I got owned then, why would they change it...fml.

its not extended series. Every tournament with a double elimination bracket normally makes the loser bracket player have to win 2 bo3's or 2 bo5's in a row. IPL did this, FXO did this as then its kind of lame that the winner of the winners bracket doesn't get any sort of advantage considering he made it to the finals of his bracket in the winners side without losing a series.
Extended series btw is where if I beat bob in winners bracket and we both go into losers bracket then we play an extended series which is dumb, thats completely different then the player in the winners bracket playing the winner in the losers bracket.
|
Wait what. The date was Thursday the 16th. Now it says the 12th and I have been forfieted? That is ridiculous.
Played through the whole tournament to* winner finals showing up every night only to have the date switched for the final round with almost 0 notice.... I hope this can be fixed.
|
Sorry for the confusion but there was an error on the brackets. We are granting extensions to the forfeited matches to 7 pm cdt Wed June 15th. Next round deadline remains the same Thurs June 16th at 7 pm cdt and 9 pm cdt.
|
Thanks for the quick response!
|
Just wanted to let you guys know, VODs are available at my page for many of the rounds: http://www.justin.tv/digiwombat/videos
Apologies that not all games are split out. I'm trying to find time to do it, but life be busy, yo. Life be mad busy.

So how do the grand finals for each bracket work ? Is there any advantage for the winners bracket finalist or is it just a straight up bo3 ?
|

guess we get to find out if its standard or not, as the bracket only has 1 spot and doesnt look like room for a standard double elim...
|

Yeah I have asked it multiple times and never got a response sadly.
But it doesn't look like you do which doesn't make sense judging from how other double elimination tournaments work.
|
Somebody told me its 2 bo3's...it'll be an accomplishment just to get games though group 8 has been a huge shitstorm of vicious walkovers and guys not showing and misreported matches...fml
|
Ah I think like every group has had lots of walkovers, I know in group 5 there has been plenty of walkovers as well
|
where are brackets and stuff? i'm confuseddd!

After today the actual ro32 starts on monday which I am pumped for ^^. I imagine they will cast all the replays as its only 16 games of replays instead of like 500

Thanks to this awful format, this tournament has about a sixth of its Ro64 slots filled with "known" players. Idra even tried playing a few matches and then just got walked over twice. I hope other tournament organizers take a lesson from this terrible format.
|
wait what I thought Idra was in the finals of his group?
Motbod do also note though that Idra is going to be in europe for the next 2 weeks? The actual tournament starts next monday and goes - friday and I imagine its at a bad time for eu and with idra playing in dreamhack then that mable cup I don't think he'd have time to play in this anyway. So maybe he FF'd on purpose.

I dont mind the format, its just a bit time consuming. Alot better than a 16 or 32 man invitational where players like me have 0 chance of being invited. or a 1 day single elim bo1 marathon.
I just need to pull out a miracle and take my group from the losers bracket in 15 minutes.

The idea behind it is good. However the scheduling is terrible. This doesn't have the prestige built around it to warrant it being drawn out for almost 2 weeks (for just the preliminary portion).
3 days, potentially 4 is all that this should take. (i.e 1 for winners bracket played through, 2 for the losers, plus an extra day for the finals if you want it.)
|
yeah one match a day is too few it should be in chunks of 3 or 4 rounds a day.
Now I'm waiting for my bracket finals and the guy isn't even around....sigh he played losers finals then logs off? Maybe he didn't realize there were actually 2 rounds tonight..
|
O_O i got w.oed twice cause 1 match per day is quite bad ;o

Not knowing the format though does cause some problems. I just finished my bracket finals with iSjecho and ended up losing 4-3 with me winning the first bo3. If the rules are 1 bo3 technically i win but the assumed 2 bo3's means jecho wins. Even if it turned out to be simply 1 I would never take the win away from Jecho since we agreed on it, but it's def frustrating not exactly knowing.

well at least your honorable . Honestly it should be 2 bo3's for loser bracket finals but unfortunately they didn't clarify and its not in the rules either :/.

won't let me look, but i know when I was playing the guy he assumed 1 bo3 so lucky for me I won and didn't have to worry about it

If you just go to your matches and click on the date beside your name it goes to the "match thread"

I hope you get your Code A cast! You're a real fun guy, not funny, but fun. Your voice is also very comfortable to listen to. Good luck!

Hope the ro32 players/brackets are released tomorrow ^^
|
The match thread said 2 BO3s, which makes sense.
|
Thanks for hosting this tourny i had a lot of fun in it, the format was good imo. Got the opportunity to see where i stand against some high level players and also wombats casting was just great haha.

Ive had a pretty terrible experience with this tournament.
I'm working 2 jobs this summer and one of the jobs involves night shifts some days throughout the week often conflicting with the scheduled time of matches. Because of that, I think I've forfeited 3 matches. However, I've been playing in Cevo tournaments since counter strike and know that it's not always absolute. For every match I've posted in match comm asking to play a day earlier or earlier on the day off, before work but I haven't gotten a reply in match comm once except from sooch. Thus, I have no choice but to forfeit because players make no attempt to communicate with me. From my past experiences with Cevo, I know I can get it overturned so I always find those players on bnet and hound them to play. Most guys have been cool about it and played it out and we then overturned the results.
However, this guy I'm supposed to face in the finals bracket for the tournament, only a 1200 masters who took a FFw over the only other good player in the bracket (sooch) wasnt so cool. Firstly, I haven't relied on the schedule list since on Sunday I think it was there was a huge, huge change and I was lucky to have been home coming from a LAN because I didn't even know there was a match that day...the schedule said something like Wednesday iirc. Had to pm an admin to fix the achedule so i could even check in. Anyways, so I'm going yo work on Thursday when all of a sudden, at like 830 saying I have to play a match at 10, well, no way in hell that's gonna happen. I figured this guy would be cool and replay the matches the next day, I come home at 8am (one of those jobs, yeah) and I see him on SC. I ask him if he wants to play now, he says nope and signs off. I forgot to mention, I played him earlier and 2-0d him, quite handily. So yesterday night I message him again asking if we can play them out and he (and I have screenshots of this) says no, I don't want to play you, I took the forfeit win and don't need to play you. I tell him admins can overturn it, nope he says. I swear at him a bunch and say fuck it, I'll just try and talk to an admin. This guy Is on a local toronto team so I'm not gonna post the SSs, but I know if I ever see him at a local LAN, I'm gonna be hard pressed not to punch him in the face. I have no problems with lower ranked players playing in tournaments, I even encourage it so you can learn, experience the thrill and adrenaline, but when shit like this happens I get beyond angry. Sorry, this has been my rant/venting of my experience, Im angry that I had to rush home for work, put off the limited time I have to spend with friends and go late to work and 2-0 everyone just to be given an FFL in the finals.
Sorry about spelling, typing from phone.
I definitely think the tournament format needs to be worked on. If anything, I think it should be mandatory to post in match comm. Even if you're gonna be a dick and try to get a forfeit win. I also think it's extremely annoying to have to play so many matches and on every other day at that. I know I'm a minority who has things to do at night but I feel there should be a way to incorporate such players, maybe a calendar sort of thing you fill out with all the times you're available without being able to see the other persons, then agreeing on similar times.

I just hope brackets are released soon as I am very curious on who I play :D

lmao yes I got kawaiirice first round.

where is the finals bracket posted? and in response to the doctor i agree, it should be mandatory to post in match comm, or at least send notifications to the emails when someone posts in it. i got like 3 forfeit wins, first one was because someone posted in match comm 3 hours before the game saying they couldnt make it and i thought i would get an email if that happened, my bad. then the other 2 people were angry after i reported a forfeit win even though they never attempted to contact me or anything saying they needed to play another time.

It hasn't been posted but I got an e-mail with my opponent, but final bracket won't let me see .

Aye same - only got it in my email but I cannot access the final brackets. I'm facing dde

No offense, but if you signed up for a tourney and can't make the play times, you have no right to be angry someone took a walk over.

oh awesome to see thats double elimination to. Kawaii enjoy it

You guys should really alter it so that the double losers bracket rounds (ones were somebody isn't dropping down from winners) are played back to back. Would really help the needless week long break between the winners finals and grand finals.
