they have good speed skaters though.

Their speed skating in fact almost caused an international Fiasco between the US and Korea, with the 2002 Olympics. The Korean athlete was ahead of the US athlete, but the Korean athlete was disqualified for blocking the US athlete. South Korea protested this, and lots of feelings were hurt.

Yeah I remember that man. I love speed skating. =)

Check out Steven Bradury win in 2002 Olympics - Short track speed skating. (that is the same race you re referring to)

Best race ever :D :D :D :D

Was that the one where he was last and won because the others fell? ..and why are we talking speed skating? xD

Do you think pro sports broadcasters do all their research? There are so many times I have seen a call up in the NHL that no one knows anything about. Shit happens.

Actually they have a whole team behind them and yes they do have all that info. o_O

That's the thing. This is still amateur work and they don't have that luxury as I pointed out earlier. One day maybe.

You apparently completely misunderstood everything I said. I said the broadcasters don't do all the research themselves. They have people give them the biggest part of their random facts. Its a team thing there.

And giving them the excuse of being amateur is kinda sad. WCG has been around a long time. If they can't look at tournaments like MLG and learn from it they dont deserve to succeed. Tournaments are improving ar a rapid pace this year and those that don't arent prospering. Getting casters some info on players is a small thing a tournament can do to be better.

You are right about this being put on by amateurs though in the end which is sad. Anyone with common sense would realize that having the games on their stream constantly switching will drive viewers away. Have dedicated streams and everyone can watch their own thing. I watched two matches during the WCG because everytime I turned it on there was some other game on. If these guys had watched IPL they'd have realized how people react to having two different games on on stream(extreme example but meh)

So good to see XiGua in the finals! He can give MVP a run for his money, and I'm going to be praying to all the gods of ESPORTS for him to win! 加油!

As for the caster knowledge debate, IMHO they could do more, maybe check TLPD and Liquipedia, but it's not their fault that the Chinese scene is so isolated and information so few (blame the Chinese Firewall, no streaming websites, no Youtube, and lack of big tournaments in China and the relatively lack of travelling Chinese players do).
I know language barrier is huge, but all they need to do is email NeoTV for some player information and for the Chinese scene. XiaoSuh and Joy are happy to help I'm sure. The chinese scene is pretty much NeoTV stuff + PTSL + random leagues like the G-league / Starwars.

Not hard to follow (guess I read/write/speak mandarin but yea).

Best players are LoveTT, Xigua, F91, Loner. The good players are like Uhen, Jim, other players on WorldElite, other players on iG.

plz dont say g-league is a random league....its the best in china....i am begging you...

Think so, remember seeing that live when I was like 8 years old, didn't quite understand just how huge that win was, but I laughed pretty hard at least

I just realized those are Fly vs. Lyn VODs and not Sky vs. Lyn. Wow. Reading comp. fail. But they should be released on that site soon. Check Replays.net too, they'll have it eventually.

It's both painful to try to follow the foreign scene from China and Chinese scene from elsewhere because:
1) Streams/VODs either are blocked (Twitch, Ustream, Livestream, MLG previously, Own3d sometimes I think, of course Youtube), or very slow and poor quality (internet speeds are quite bad in China, especially foreign websites, NeoTV even has to use a VPN to restream the GSL, and quality is nowhere near HD)
2) Chinese VODs use Youku or Tudou or similar, and pretty much always with Chinese commentary, therefore there's not going to be any non-Chinese audience.

Shame, because Chinese players are, as everyone has seen this weekend, pretty damn good

Rofl WTF showmatch battery problems.

He made it to the finals which will be tomorrow against Xigua. The link is here

WCG 2011 SC2 Main Tournament

but honestly I am not sure why so many people ask for this link, its Liquipedia, if you want to know anything about anything SC you should be able to find it their easily.

That can't be right...there's still a building there, only thing is you can walk over it.

Can't be right because otherwise we would have seen it used.
