Xigua just 6:0 some players who never be able to show themselves to any major/even small foreign tournament, not to mention GSL. Suddenly he become code S level, that's odd.

If this is due to Artosis, I strongly recommend you guys watch Sen vs Jack game from main stage. You knew Artosis how bias when he hypers.

Yes, Idra got knocked out early. It's not the end of the world guys. Let's move on and stop moping. He'll be in many more tournaments in the future.

Lol... Gotta love fanbois, always an excuse. Most group formats are best of 1s... GSL, MLG, Dreamhack etc. ...more stuff

The bo1 system, mass group play makes me very sad. In a bo1 series I feel like potential racial imbalance and unfair spawning positions, is very troublesome. I very much doubt that anyone would disagree about the fact that in a bo1 where you don't get a chance to "get to know " your opponent, that terran players get slightly favoured because the way wall-offs work. Add in the fact that zerg early game is very volatile and it is basically a recipe for disaster.

Hopefully people read my post the right way and not like balance whine. My point is to be critical of WCG and their system, not how the races work.

Lastly, pretty please with sugar on top, stop calling WCG the "Olympics of Esports" because it isn't. WCG is a shadow of it former self, and the production is five to ten years behind today's standard. The quality on both VODs and the live stream, are by today's standard not acceptable.

i was hyping xigua for a while, then he did poorly @ iem guanzhou (prob spelling error, sorry!) so i began to doubt what I saw in him.

glad to see him go 6-0.

edit: lol @ idra losing to capoch for his only win. i wonder if it was a 1 or 2 base all in.

All maps are cross spawns and GSTL has proven zergs are quite capable in bo1 scenarios.

To clarify, all maps are forced cross spawns. MVP made a small complaint about it in the interview.

If you ever watched Xigua's replays before, you'd know he's very very good. He's extremely fast, great multitasking... He's just inconsistent. I'm not surprised at all to see him 6-0 his group, it was a weak group anyway.

I'm kind of surprised about how not interested I am in this. Maybe its because I have finals next week or something as well, the event just seems 'boring' =/

That's because players in the GSTL play according to very specific strategies (as snipers, to respond to an opponent's weak matchup against zerg, using a particular build that is strong against a particular map, etc.). When it's just a straight-up all-out group stage where the point is to get consistent results [hence round-robin format], bo1 doesn't make sense.

4 chinese players on home field with a chance to show the westerners, zero made it through the group stages.

yeah i cant imagine zerg being anything but the worst race to play in a bo1 scenario

literally can die just for not having a drone patrolling your ramp in the first 2 minutes of the game >_>

Yeah, I'm sure MVP would've gone 3-3 in his pool on a different day (LOL)

Yeah, this is what i was thinking too. I was really looking forward to seeing Xigua play but it was simply horrible and disappointing. Can't really say anything else about the others either..

But today Xigua seemed to play very well, since he took down 3 fairly decent players.

No surprise to see Idra, Sen and Elfi out. Elfi is very good in PvP, but plays rather risky in other matchups. Idra and Sen, too bad that there were so many ZvZs, but I can imagine that Idra is not solid enough too survive the Bo1 group stage format, where a lot of cheese will happen. Look at Mvp, cruising 6-0 like a boss.
I am intrigued by the Chinese players. It was quite silent around that scene. Looks like they catch up pretty fast like in Wc3 if they are dedicated.
