TBH as for the series, it was pretty lackluster. A lot of mistakes from both players, I don't think the entire series was anywhere near comparable to some GSL TvT we've seen. However, game 5 was definitely up there, one of the best TvT I've seen...

Yeah, it sucks that that's the case, because PvP is yawntastic. Even Naniwa and HasuObs can't save us from the boredom of having to watch two players follow the same tech tree.

I just can't understand this kind of logic. Micro = boring?

ThorZain beat MC ffs.
For me, he's no longer the underdog vs anyone. After this run, I think it's fair to rank him up there with the world's best terrans like MVP, MarineKing or SC2 NaDa.

IMO his strength seems to be preparing for a specific matchups, I wonder how he will do in a tournaments with lots of games in a short period of time

This is what i think too, that he's a player who's incredibly strong if he gets to prepare and that this is the perfect environment for him.

Ye, that's exactly what he seems to be, he's kinda more of a old school player in that regard ^^

Seriously, how does TSL do it? Probably 5 of top 10 SC2 series ever have been on TSL. INSANE!

Well the nice thing about TSL for the players is the long time to prepare. Thorzain proved to be really good in that format. Two weeks ago he said his TvT was really bad but now he has motivation to practice it and he obviously has.

BoX series with a lot of prep time where always prone to produce awesome games.

I agree theres no way Thorzain is an underdog even against Naniwa.

The thing that's so difficult to comprehend is that ThorZain doesn't play at nearly the same level without proper preparation. Look for example at his games in The Gathering and the Rakaka tournament http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/The_Road_to_Korea

Thorzain off-raced and stuff in the rakaka tournament, I don't think he's interested in going to Korea

Lol I don't think thorzain or kas could take a game off of either Mvp or Bomber. Yes they do well in the TSL, but I don't think you realize how much better Mvp and Bomber are. The european terrans are most definitely the best in the foreign world, but korean terrans would probably wreck them.

Although ThorZain has had an amazing run in the TSL, he also got knocked out of the Road to Korea tournament pretty quickly, and that tournament wasn't even international. Granted, Sweden's probably the strongest non-Korean country... but still, it certainly casts a bit more doubt on ThorZain's game. Perhaps he's only so strong when he has ample time to prepare for a certain opponent?

On the other hand Naniwa has been exceptionally consistent. Although I might not put ThorZain as an underdog against HasuObs, I'd say Naniwa would have to be the tournament favorite here.

Thorzain plays a lot of mind games. It wouldn't surprise me if he took this to the meta-tournament stage, losing games on purpose in certain tournaments that he doesn't care that much about in order to throw his opponents off.

He off-raced after he was already out
I don't want to make excuses for him but when he played that tournament I think he had only played TvP for like a month straight so not the best environment to play TvT against a new up and coming really good terran

fixed for you, the game was very entertaining, but it was pretty bad.

for comparison, that was maybe code a first round level, and the rest of the series not even that.

Wow crazy game, thought Kas would go to the final for sure.
Seemed like Thorzain kept doing more small mistakes but guess he got the things that matters most right somehow.
