Okay, you're Polish. So like most of the Swedish kids you want your guys to be the best but Nerchio is not. He's clearly talented but almost all his achievement are in small online tournaments versus obscure players and the odd known B teamer.

rofl, that's just so wrong. To win Dailymotion Cup he beat Tarson, Demuslim, Stephano, TLO, Diestar and Morrow (4-0) and now he just beat Thorzain (3-0) and White-Ra and is in TotalBiscuit's Invitational final where he is the favorite against Morrow.
Clearly these are very obscure players...

And I totally don't get why you downplay online achievements that much, please enlighten me ...

The bolded players are definite B Teamers, Morrow is terrible in ZvZ and TLO just quit playing for a while.

Thorzain and White Ra were good wins.

The reason online tournaments don't matter is because a lot of players don't take them all too seriously (just look at White Ra's carrier game today and Sjow vs Morrow) and all players do not use their best tactics in them for fear of revealing their best builds when they don't matter much.

For comparison with other sports online tournaments like Zotac's are pre-season friendlys where as Dreamhack, MLG, GSL these are Champions League games. A guy like Idra for example will lose to all sorts of people on his stream or when he's playing in crappy tournaments but when he's at MLG, IPL or NASL you would never see him drop games versus these crappy players.

Because "these crappy players" like you put it are not in these tournaments. That's why a guy like Nericho (imo) deserves a shot. He's done what he can to make a name for himself, he's won versus really great players, he's taken tournaments home, the next step would be an invite to a big LAN and prove himself there. I don't see how people gains recongnition in your world if we were to exclude everyone who hasn't gotten their "big LAN win" yet in every LAN competition. That'll just leave the same set of people playing it out over and over again.

Thats what I have been telling him too. He just doesnt see the flaw in his logic when he claims that only people that have ALREADY won a big LAN are top players and thus deserve an invite. But in order to become such a top player that deserves an invite YOU HAVE TO INVITED IN THE FIRST PLACE to succeed at a LAN

I wouldn't object or be surprised if he got an invite, but he's not like say a Morrow or a Naniwa who 100% deserves an invite. He's a borderline guy. If he's that good and desperate to come he can do the BYOC. July showed at MLG that you can treat that sort of thing like the bronze league if you're good enough.

The majority of major tournaments have a qualification by merit system as well as invites.

Thorzain and Naniwa made a name for themselves in major tournaments by either getting in through the qualifiers or through the open bracket and were one of "these crappy players" prior, they didn't get any free rides, the same goes for most players. There is no reason why Nerchio can't do the same if he is enough of a player.

I have no objections torwards him being invited but he shouldn't be sitting around waiting for free rides if he is serious about what he is doing. Instead he should go participate in qualifiers and open brackets, just like all other online heroes did prior to him.
I can no longer rest under the tree of wisdom, since you have axed down the roots feeding it.

I hope one of the last players will be Naugrim. He really impressed me in a tournament recently and it seems like he is practising a lot. He is the only Swede I can see missing from the tournament at the moment.
