Stop overhyping players who have done nearly nothing that completely underhyped players (MKP, Polt) have done as well. The pro-foreigner bias is crazy.

I don't know why you are so butt hurt. It was an awesome series.

??

Did I say it wasn't?

well, not exactly. but most people just like to enjoy the series for what it is. you're spreading a bad mood, for no apparent reason.

Great series, still would consider MC the better player overall though. Win % in mirror match ups are very different, and MC does have 2 GSL titles.

Who is the better overall player?....

MC was the the player with more past success.
And I think that ThorZaIN was the better prepared player.

But I believe that if we ask this question a few months from now, i think it's more likely that we will say ThorZaIN was the better player overall. :-D

I disagree

Why are people fighting about who the better player is?

If ThorZain is the better player, then good for him! He's better than MC now!

If MC is the better player, ThorZain still beat him. Victory went to ThorZain because he played brilliantly, not because MC failed some all in or something. These were macro games and everything about it was awesome.

It doesn't matter who's better. ThorZain won, we are allowed to celebrate his win. Stop trying to take away the awesomeness of his win.

Haters gonna hate.

Guy loses 3-2 in extremely hard fought back-and-forth series, is "clearly the better player". Love it!

Other than the strategic blunders, yes. How do you think it was a close series despite those blunders?

This is no insult to Thorzain. His builds are excellent. His execution is not notable however.

In what ways did the execution falter?

Uhm, the way he completely just threw away game 4? He had it won before he went into Mcs main and sacrificed like 6-8 medivacs and his entire army for 2 pylons and a dark shrine. Pretty humongous blunder imo.

That's not apart of his "build" that was in question here. That was a strategic decision.

Yes he lost in a series 3-2, but can you honestly say Thorzain can take 2 GSL titles? his TvT is something around 65%. MC has the best PvP in the world. 1 series is not a determinant of who's "better"

My head hurts. Who is the better player means who is better among two people. Give Thorzain 8months in oGs house, 5 qualifier chances of GSL and you think he wouldn't as well as MC?

Were talking about who is better not who is more talented. Hard work goes just as far as natural talent in starcraft.

Everyone, if you write MC a letter and explain how hard you fought for him in this LR thread it will surely ease the sting of getting bodied so brutally.

I promise.

That's one example of bad decision-making, but with that as the proof of "clearly the better player" I still can't see it, I need more explaining to understand.

How can someone be "clearly the better player" if they make several strategic blunders?

OTHER THAN THEM. God, how many times do I need to rewrite that? His micro/macro etc were better. His builds, upgrade timing etc were not at all.

Sorry, I did miss that part. In that case it's kind of a poor way to put it, why not say that Thorzain had much better builds and upgrades while MC had better micro/macro? That seems less likely to draw fire from the internet and doesn't take away from Thorzain's ability as a player.

Sorry ^_^

Thorzain came up with great builds, I'm not taking anything from him. However I haven't found his mechanics notable (not bad, just not notable) so I don't know how he'll hold up once people adapt. In particular how will he do against people who upgrade early and don't respond badly to funky builds?

This! I honestly think i would be happier to see MC lose to Kas than to Thorzain. Kas is a complete player, while Thorzain is just good on TvP with his upgrade timmings and non common army composition.

Protoss still didnt figure a way to deal efficiently with heavy thor build, yeah there are several possible ways to deal with it, but everyone seems to have a possible way and everytime there is a game with heavy thor composition usually you see something different from the protoss usually failing. It's strange why terrans dont use that more often.

So go and watch the copenhagen tournament and you have your Kas vs MC serie.

I don't know if he would do as well as MC considering i can't predict events 8 months in the future if all those circumstances occurred. Thorzain is fantastic though and i wish he would go to Korea to compete because he deserves a chance in the GSL. I would argue that the better player is not relative to one certain match up though on one day.

Its really interesting to read threads like this. Koreans are plain and simply losing often to Europeans, yet no one is willing to admit it. Maybe a year from now once its normal, people will accept European equality?

Question is: can they repeat their results on LAN? So far, nope. Way to come out of your shell when a Korean loses to bait a Europe vs Korea war that is unnecessary.

Both Thorzain and MC played from Europe this round.

Thank god you said this.

dunno why all the hate is going to Thorzain...regardless of who is "better player" or not, the kid played brilliantly in the match sets and in the end status has nothing to do with it. Kid deserves respect, he earned it
