I swear, with Idra's mentality against Protoss, a toss player might be able to trick him into gging even while he's winning.

MC had 0 defenses at both his 3rd/4th. IdrA took a late 4th / never corrupted after killing the Collo in the first fight and didn't scout expansions. Late on infesters as well. Had he waited for infesters and massed some bl's while harrassing the expos with lings or something he'd be fine and that is ONLY after him NOT throwing 4 base of production into 2 collo (idra had corruptors out) and 5 stalkers...

The thing that pisses me off the most though is that OK so you make a mistake at the end and it costs you the game.. why give up on game 2? You had him on the ropes like 3 separate times EVEN IF you want to argue "I can't win!" you at least came REALLY REALLY close vs the best fucking protoss on the planet... what more do you want? Give game 2 a try jesus

You'd have to actually play Zerg for an extend period of time to realize how frustrating stuff like this is. This happens to me so many times on ladder...try my ass of for minute advantages, get in a better position, play the game of my life, then lose to a Protoss because my attention lapsed for one second and he could capitalize. It's so discouraging i basically just don't ladder for an hour or two, if not leave the game for the rest of the day. Keep I'm mind I'm a noob who plays the game at low masters level for fun. It must be so much worse for some1 that actually does this for a living

this. Basically protoss can and does make at least as many mistakes as his opponent (T or Z) but can hardly be punished for it. If you try and don't succeed, you're behind. If you don't try, you're behind.

How can a race turtle and afford the luxury to a-move after and crush face, that's beyond me.

Six pooling on Xelnaga is so, so, so bad. A 9 probe sees it well in advance. There's nothing wrong with strategic 6 pooling, Fruitdealer did an amazingly well timed 6 pool on Kulas in GSL1.

Really? No one has EVERY done an onside kick during the opening kickoff in the playoff before, much less in an important game. Nope, never.

Never seen a flee flicker, or half back option, nope. UNHEARD OF.

Idra 6pools when he's given up and doesn't care, it wasn't some sort of trick to try and catch MC off guard, he just didn't give a fuck.

Either way, IdrA had the first game but I feel that he went too passive, he should've kept pushing instead of going back to macro game and then let the protoss max out...

i think everyone is pointing out that, 6 pooling is not a bad thing, but 6 pooling on caverns, especially against MC, is a very very risky move, almost a throw away.

I would just like to say this is the best tournament run so far. Even when they have some problems with sound they handle it well with a joke. Let's see if they can do this again at the next Dreamhack with hundreds of games to play.

While I respect you immensely as a player and what you do for the community, I gotta disagree with you a bit here. Well not disagree, as idra definitely played it wrong. But the correct play is still so difficult to pull off. I just feel as maybe you don't have a complete perspective on the matter

Sure, he attack in a choke. Metal is basically a giant choke, there wasn't really any other options. He could've positioned a bit better, but I still think with MCs insane micro, it hard to idras to come out on top with those two army comps.

Maybe you have played zerg and know how they feel late game, and I know you're worlds better than I'll ever be, but imo, zerg late game is incredibly difficult. Roachs get murdered by stalkers/collsus, as do hydras. If you kill of collosus with corruptors you have a dozen worthless units or 24 supply of shit (2 supply corruptor i think, im that bad that I don't know for sure)

I do know what you're saying about game 2 though. It's possible to beat protoss, and he came really close.

You're getting the message of this post and Tyler's totally wrong. Whether or not if Idra would have won by doing those things he stated doesn't really matter.

It was the fact that Idra SHOULD BE DOING HIS JOB. Playing every game like his last and giving it 100%. Idra obviously wasn't doing that and that is why Geoff (his teammate) is bringing this up.

He even states that Zerg late game is incredibly difficult, which may or may not be true (time is the only thing that tell whether or not ZvP is trule balanced or imbalanced). But Idra shouldn't have given up like that. He should do his job and give his 100% regardless of his personal bias or whatever that may make him thnk that the game is broken.

ah ok, bit clearer. I agree with them in that respect then. But I don't really think idra gave up in game 1... he lost it. second game was just dumb though.
