I really enjoyed todays matches, very surprised Thorzain took his series so overwhelmingly, even though Tyler wasn't playing to his full potential it was still very convincing play from Thorzain. MC did exactly what I expected, such a dominant player.

I can't wait for tomorrows games!

I know this has been discussed to death, but what are the latency rules for Tyler vs Thorzain? US to EU. The Stalker control in Set 2 was just... bad and I think he missed with all the forcefields that attempted to catch hellions in Set 1.

It was stated by the casters to make latency as fair as possible, game 1 was played on NA servers, game 2 and 3 on EU servers, and game 4 and 5 if required would be back on NA servers. I think that's a very fair system, and in addition to that I'm quite sure that the NA-EU connection is good enough for lag to be a nonissue?
I'll be in my bunk.

Surprised to read that staff predictions/liquid bets were so much in favor of Tyler, you might have though people would realize by now that Thorzain ain't to be underestimated. The NA server/players are miles behind EU and Korea by now and I expect the skill gap to get even wider. We are 9 million people in Sweden yet we have more top Starcraft 2 players (or equal) compared to USA who has 300 million people.

Why do so many people make the players about an issue of race/continent. I guess it is understandable with Koreans since they have a culture that supports Esports and were clearly way ahead in BW... but I really don't understand why people compare NA with EU all the time and talk about it with so much pride.

It seems like people will take any chance to brag that the pro player they live closer to beat the pro player someone else lives closer to. Do some people really not care about the player themselves, but instead where they are from? I just don't see why you take so much pride in it, as you are clearly bragging by saying "oh wow we only have 9 million people and we have better players than your 300 million!!" when I personally feel people should be saying "I really enjoy Jinro as a player over SeleCT."

Don't get me wrong... I think a bit of national pride is perfectly fine and reasonable, but some people seem to be fixated on it. The same can be said about in game races. So many people always cheer for the same race that they play rather that the really fun/interesting personalities or great game play. I know not everyone seems to focus on nationality and in game race, but there seems to be quite a lot of people that do that. If a pro player lives in the same country as them and plays the same race as them... they can be a huge asshole, but will still have fans because of that fact. It's so strange to me... BTW WhiteRa is my favorite player and he's obviously not from the same country as me, in case any one is curious.

I'm also not looking to start a flame war... people are entitled to have their opinions on players for whatever reason, but I just feel my reason makes more sense... but again, that is just my opinion. It just bothers me a bit when people try to talk down on others simply because they live in a closer vicinity to a good starcraft player....

I guess Starcraft is a bit a a consolation for some of the Europeans since the US dominates so hard in other sports? IDK but there is a ton of US hate flying around these forums. EU ladder is definitely a bit more competitive than NA ladder but if you watch the TL streams of any of the NA pros you'll see that a lot of them have top masters accounts on EU as well. As for Sweden, it has always been a major gaming community through many different games and you can't make fair comparisons between it and the US. Alot of the NA top players are college kids with tons of other obligations and interests where as in Sweden most of them are hardened gaming pros. If you want to compare Sweden to the US in ANY other sport I'm sure youd find a huge disparity but its no reason to blurt out
"US > SWEDE LOLZ" because there are probably good social reasons why it is so.

Not sure what you are on about, because I fail to see the "US hate". All I've ever seen were comments/interviews/statements that the EU ladder might be a little more competative than the US ladder.
Probably I should just let it fly, because judging from you analogy you don't seem to comprehend very well, but still - the "dominance" in other sports is on both sides mostly limited to whatever is popular I guess. Thus, I don't think anyone has to over-compensate based on the maybe existing slight edge in SC2 (and I think we this is not about "top 3 EU > top 3 US" or something, more about average masters or whatever) to make up for Europes utter failure in other sports...

So wait, everybody is pissed at White Ra just because in the last game he said "gg 4 gate is best(y)"?

What the fuck, TL. What the fuck.

I personally think the "anti-4gate" 3 stalker rush build works only on a few maps, and pretty much only against regular ladder players - i.e. those who don't/can't adjust their builds (blind 4 gate no matter what they scout) will die to it, but thats about it =/

Not only can they easily just switch into a robo build like MC did after scouting, even against 4gate rush itself, Its just too fragile and risky.. if they get 1 pylon near you, its already pretty much over - its so dependent on scouting luck imo.

Damn Thorzain is just playing so solid every game. Really impresses me, given to the caliber of players he is facing.

You do feel the difference; most people probably have like <50ms on their server and ~300ms or so on the other, it is noticable. But when I was young and we were all still on 56k dial-up and then ISDN (64k) we even played intercontinental QuakeWorld/Quake2 clanwars just for kicks... just had to adopt your playstyle slightly

About on which servers they played, maybe it's just too late for me to comprehend, but why did they go with US-EU-EU-US-US instead of US-EU-US-EU-US?

wow just saw white-ra vs MC, MC's just looks so confortable. Loved it during the second game, white ra has 3 more gate about 1/2 done and MC throws down a robo with just 1 gate, i was like WTF? Spoiler: MC won.
while PvP is pretty boring, at least not both player start with a 4 WP rush in the games.

So is it true Tyler accidentally disconnected when he tried to rage quit? All I saw was the Thorzain going "..." and the confirmation that Tyler had left the game.

I was surprised how short today was, I was all excited and set up to watch two epic Bo5s and I end up with two pretty straightforward and disappointing sets.

TSL has been blah so far . Nothing against the actual tournament itself; the production, casting, stream quality, punctuality, and write ups have all been fantastic, but literally every player i've been rooting for has lost lol. MVP, Fruitdealer, Nestea, Idra, Ret, Tyler, and Jinro . Sens still in it though, hoping he'll go far :D

Wow, no one predicted a 3-0 for Thorzain! Plexa was close. Can't wait for his game against MC. Too bad there's no more Liquidians in the bracket.

Also, this prediction seems contradictory: "TLAF-Liquid`Tyler vs Praae.ThorZaIN: Will Tyler's typical high level of preparation be able to overcome ThorZaIN's game-sense he demonstrated vs. Fruitdealer? I don't think so. Tyler."

Just finished watching the vod's and I gotta say I absolutely love how thorzain plays. Especially that first game, it was my favorite love the thors. I do kind of wish that tyler advanced to play mc since he said he doesn't think mc is good which is pretty funny.

As for the PvP series that is easily the most boring/not exciting matchup in all of SC2. Not very enjoyable to watch. (the PvP is boring not the players).

Edit: the intro was also so badass

Why do people constantly put words in tylers mouth?! He never said, that he thinks MC isn't good. He simply said he didn´t like his style, because it is risky at times and depends heavily on timing pushes. Tyler even said quite a few times, that MC is probably the best Toss in the world at the moment. Not liking his style is not saying "he isn´t good".

Totally agree, while Tyler clearly isn't fond of MC's style, he has given props to the champ. He just wasn't ready to anoint him a Bonjwa yet. That being said though, Tyler set himself up for the backlash, he had to know that it was coming in this TSL. All of the critiquing and dissecting of MC's play might have been academic for him, but for the fans, he was hyping the matchup. MC was one round away and, frankly, Tyler got knocked out before he even stepped into the ring. And like any community, we love to tear down our heroes.

Yeah same here. It's nothing against TSL, the tournament itself has been run perfectly, and the players involved are amazing. It's too bad they all keep losing -_-

I'm quickly running out of people to cheer for. Gogo Sen and Boxer. Its too bad you all play one another : /

Not really
Game 1: White starts with 3 stalker, then to 4 gate and 1 robo for WP. MC does gate to robo and archives. MC Crushes white ra with blink.
Game 2: White ra feigns going tech, but 4 warp gates rushes, MC does 1 gate robo and then add more gateways. MC crushes white ra with sentries.
Game 3: White ra does 3 gate expand since MC has not 4 gated in the previous 2 games. MC places 2 pylons in a position hidden from white-ra. MC crushes white ra with much bigger army.

So 3 clinical PvP from MC, but not too exciting.

finished vod's. thorzains build in game1 was nice, think i only remember something similar to it in tlovssangho. maybe with more immortals tyler could handle it. he has a good shot to take out mc, which would be an insane list of players he went through to get to the semi's.

As sorry as I feel for WhiteRa, it's good to see MC rolling. Clinical PvP - no more talk about lag or some other non-skill based variable after today's games.

Tyler's performance was unexpectedly weak, particularly given the amount of time he had to prepare for this series. Never in any of those games did he feel in control, like he had an edge. I remember Tyler saying in an interview he develops all builds by himself and does not really practice that much with the rest of Liquid. If that was again the case in the run-up to the Ro16 it seems like a bit of a waste.
