I am merely posting here to prove that, given the speed in which this thread grows, no one will even read it because there is no picture or vote in it. So I could write basically anything here. Like for example cheese is delicious, down with bacon. No one will ever find out, and yet I made a statement on the internet. I think Im a freaking genius. Ans since no one will disagree I quite frankly am. What a great day!
I'd take cheese over bacon any day. I'm more of a ham person.
bacon is ham:<
From wikipedia:
Bacon is distinguished from salt pork and ham by differences in the brine (or dry packing).
Bacon is a gift from the heavens that few mortal men can truly appreciate. To speak of it with any less reverence than if it were ambrosia is border line blasphemous.
I don't understand how they can't just let us watch the games that are currently being played. They keep posting updates with all their fantastic matches being played but yet we haven't watching anything all day.

Not surprised, but not getting to see the ending was kind of disappointing. It's not very kind to see all the twitter updates about potentially exciting series yet none are being casted.

mlg's fault for not testing thoroughly and even attempting to run sc2 on crappy internet. sucks for everyone
IEM uses a travelling format and never seems to have major issues like MLG.
The network infrastructure is a lot better in Europe.... I bet the places they host at have giant network pipes... As they have a way better gaming base and know they need good connections, not just some T1 bundle...

Why can't they just stream them? Or cast from replays of the multitude of games already played? Any reason why? I genuinely don't understand if there are technical reasons that would make this impossible.
MLG have never done this in the past and never will.
Well maybe they should start because it would be obviously better than what they're doing right now.
One would think they'd figure that out over the past years but, no.

They have to pay that rate for a contract period... For MLG is it worth it to buy a giant pipe and pay several thousands of dollars a month and then might not use it at all?
Again it sucks, but it really is a fine line of what the hell do you do.... It's sucks for us, it sucks for MLG. But it's not an easy fix either, they are probably on the call with their ISP and trying to get something worked out, but in the end they probably don't have a big enough pipe to their site. I would love to see the utilization charts on their main routers, I bet it's 100%.. For them to pay to have that increased when they only use that site for a weekend isn't worth it....
It is called an investment, and It would be well worth it as long as they make profit after paying overhead costs and what not, it seems they sold a LOT of season tickets, so chances are the cost would make up the means, and who says they can't host two events in the same city int he year and bring in even more money?
To have an event for a few days, it is not worth the investment, I'm sorry it is not. I work for GE and the amount of money some of our sites have to pay for just a bundle of 5 T1s is insane. That is a 7.5 mb up and down connection and that is thousands of dollars a month... I honestly don't know what the traffic hitting that site is, but I think it would need a big pipe...
Sorry but cable can exceed T1 speeds up and down. There is no reason to pay that much for an inferior line other than because GE has boatloads of cash. There are cheaper ways of doing it.
if its a server issue, then it makes me wonder if they have consulting/contracting with a major networking company such as Cisco. Its not like this scale of bandwidth usage is immeasurably big, it pales in comparison to any major corporate website.
Hell if location was an issue, they should setup a stable server somewhere in the US, upload streams there then use that location as their server base. I can only imagine that they have everything running directly to the venue and that they probably didn't invest in an architected solution. With the amount of viewership they have and the fact that connectivity is their major crux, this should be a no brainer.
At the very least, someone needs to tell the MLG head that they need to hire someone who actually knows how to run a business
I just don't understand. If games are being played, and the stream is working, why not show us some games being played? If it's the commentators themselves being in the game that's screwing it up, just set up a camera behind one of the players... come on guys, your plans may have been bombed but just improvise *something*!
I'd settle for watching a stream of some guy walking around with a camera inserting himself into team conversations at this point.

Repent, sinners.
Another attempt at bacon-ham ecumenism foiled by bacon fundamentalists.
