When your mom say to you "Good morning" do you respond "F**c you!" ??

If your answer is yes don't read the rest.

GG is a show of respect for a fellow gamer. Just like you work hard to win a match so does you opponent. Of course there is times that your opponent don't deserve respect but that's another story. In this case MC didn't make anything that disrespected Ciara so the fact that he left the game without GG only showed that he couldn't control his own frustration.

Another thing: respect as far as I know is independent of religion or going to church so your analogy really doesn't make any sense.

Saying Good morning and expect a respond is not the same. He doesn't have to respond to someone, he can choose to Gg or not, it's his choice. I agree with the other poster, this is an option and should not be force upon others.

Regarding saying / not saying gg, gl hf I really feel it's okay to skip it but I do think it's the wrong choice playing people from another scene.

You should do your best to show your respect and it's two letters

to not "gg" just shows your weakness to not respect your opponent and shows that you cannot see that your opponent was better in the match you lost. But he was!

None of these acts of respect aren't forced on sportsmen either but still being done which increases the professionalism.

In tennis the two players shake hands after the game regardless of how the match goes. None of the player is forced to shake hands with the other, but it's just something they do to show respect.

It's not a strange thing expecting the same level of professionalism of players of a game everyone here on the boards love.

It's a bit shame that there are people thinking common sense of sportsmenship doesn't apply to starcraft. Yet many wants to view starcraft as a sport (or e-sport).

In conclusion, no: nobody will penalize you for not saying GG. God forbid you'd type two extra letters at the end of a game where you've proabaly pressed keys 1000 times, in the act of respect and sportsmanship towards your opponent.

I like Husky's casting. Some may find him less strategically insightfull than the other casters, and this may be true. I won't make claims otherwise. He is however greater at improvization, than most other casters, and he comes up with random stuff that puts a smile on my face. Funny bones, I guess. This makes me enjoy the games even more, than just being reminded what is actually happening in the game.

Oh, and now that I seem to have stirred the pot. What a GREAT tournament this is turning into. Awesome stream quality, graphics, casters and player pool. This is high quality entertainment. GJ by all involved in this production.

Playerwise, I'm impressed by ThorZaIn, Sen and Morrow so far, in particular.

So you're someone who doesn't respect his opponents? Good for you.

Morrow impressive? Psssh. He punishes a transparent build twice, not that hard. He's done more impressive things.

Is there some kind of a table anywhere, where I can see, who played against and lost/won to who and who moved on?

While this discussion over the whole lack of gg in game one is interesting, I think it's apt to point out that MC hasn't really been showing much respect at all in his interviews. Doesn't he usually just outright say his opponent isn't good? That, to me, is much more disrespectful than not typing two letters at the end of a (hardly) good game, and the fact he ignores his own arrogance and claims he's the victim for not receiving a gg is just silly.

I just can't support someone who disrespects his opponents before he even plays them. Hopefully someone humbles him later in this tournament.
I am serious. And my name is Shirley.

It's like MC is playing for achievements. Win an international tournament game with a "4-gate" build while building only 3 gates. Next achievement is doing the same thing using only 2 gates.

The whole concept of GG-ing after a game is just a show of sportsmanship imo. You can do whatever you want on ladder etc, but in a tournament setting typing out two little letters as a show of mutual sportsmanship should be a no brainer.

It's like pro tennis and handshakes. You're not required to shake hands after a match, and I'm sure there have been players who haven't, but generally speaking, most competitors do.

Instead of whining about baneling busts, I'm just going to come out and say this: In game 2 was Jinro in super saiyan mode or something? That bunker rush didn't win him the game, but it certainly did give him the lead. What clearly won the game was marine micro on the level of MVP. Those splits were completely sick.

Quote for emphasis.
That game 2 was a masterpiece from Jinro, it was impressive.
And the fact that morrow could defend and stay alive for that long also says a lot about his skill.

I have to agree. Although its not enforced really, (it is by kespa iirc, but thats all afaik) its frowned upon for sure, id like to see more tournaments make it compulosry. However, ideally it'd not need to be compulosry and players would do it even though they didnt have to

I really dont get you guys, so many husky haters. And why is that? Yeah, he's not day9, but many people enjoy his style. He is huk, whitera, tlo fan boy, but who cares, we all love players like that and we have our preferences. He is a big fan of teamliquid, he started his channel some time before beta, so his knowladge is not so bad, and he is getting better as you all have seen in last stream. More over, and you cant deny it, he provides extra views. And most important, belive me that thanks to his ability to attract people, sc2 community gained a lot of new gamers , many people watch his videos and they don't even play sc (!). Im also certain that thx to him many people (including me) have decided to buy this game and now they are proud to be part of this awesome community.
So what is a problem forum?

I think Jinro deserved to win, but he was too much confident i guess.

I hope that MorroW does a great job in this tournament.

I stand corrected. There's nothing impressive about beating Jinro. Decidedly. Twice. With the same strategy.

I would say that the lack of gg leads to 345 pages in one thread. It creates heroes and villains and adds a layer to E-sports that we haven't really seen. I love it. Although, he did play terribly in that first game so I think it was more about him just being really pissed off at himself. Either way I think it's good for E-sports.

Are players portrayed as villains good for E-sports?

Play like a champion, no excuses.
