I feel crazy bad for the people who have to make the decisions for the NASL.

No matter who they pick, they are going to get flak for not getting one player over another. I hope cooler heads prevail.

Sooooooo many good players applying. I wish they could make it more than 50 people.

50 is probably a good number to do without all-inning the tournament. If season 1 does as well as we all hope, then there should be no reason not to increase the number of participants and lengthen the season

The best thing NASL can do is really explain their reasoning and criteria for selection in detail.

You can't eliminate backlash, there will always be disappointed/angry fans, but going for full disclosure and transparency is the best way to keep the backlash to a minimum. TSL did so perfectly.

edit: does anyone know anything about WeMadeFox Soccer? I just noticed his application video but no one seemed to take notice of it. :lol He does have a TLPD entry but is pretty much a ghost otherwise. Added him to the NASL list, bringing the tally up to 110 for now.

Thanks to haypro and huk for getting these videos out there and helping out the OGS guys to get their interviews up. This is awesome id say at least 5 players from ogs deserve to be in the league it will be awesome to see some of them. most of them have excellent personalites as well and would really raise the quality of the league in that aspect i found alot of the non korean videos quite boring while i see that some of these korean players are laughing and trying to have fun with their interviews.

Awesome interviews all in all GL to all the OGS players.

It's going to be quite a challenge to pick who gets to play in this league. I don't envy whoever has to make those decisions. And I'd think a few more than that should ideally be let in.

Something like 10-15 Korean invites would be good, I think. Any lower than that and you'd have to exclude too many who actually took the effort to make a video of themselves in a language they either don't speak at all or probably not very well, something they knew would be public. That's no small thing.

I feel more than 10 is too much.
Just like in the Olympics some events would be a joke if they didn't cap on nationality.
I believe the same might be true for NASL.

I don't understand the argument that they should get in on sympathy, if that was the case everyone that made a video should get in really.

The Olympics are supposed to be Nation vs nation. There is no such sentiment in NASL.

I disagree, in every international competition you represent your country in one way or another.
Maybe the NASL-people wont put emphasis on it, but I definitely will.

That was just one example though, you'll find caps in sports all around if you want to.
If you're not getting better faster than everybody else, you're getting worse.

Ensnare: I want play IdrA. He called me faggot. I don't forget.

MC to HuK: I think not nervous, you final gogo, but me champion.

I am very impressed by some of these Koreans' english skills. Just imagine if HuK or Jinro could speak Korean that fluently!

There is a significant number on TL who would prefer this tournament be all Korean because Koreans are the best players. Since its fairly easy to find 50 Koreans that are better than all the foreigners outside of Korea (code A > US+EU+Athene), you must have either an ALL-Korean league or no Koreans at all. Middle grounds, grey areas, and places where people meet half way do NOT exist! Anybody stating otherwise will be seen as biased and delusional.

In other words, it sucks to be Xeris right now

you are SO wrong about this code A > US+EU

omg, you guys just think IEM prooved that, but why the hell didnt IdrA roflstomp all the players there, being a more than average CodeS player?

They probably know they don't have a real shot at getting in and are just doing it to support each other and make themselves better known in North America for future tournaments. This is just season 1 of NASL after all.

You dont think the OGS guys have a real shot at getting in, at least 4 of their players are top top tier players and id say better or at least even footing with the highest level of players in the west (most likely better) so if some of those top players dont get in after applying that would be a huge upset.

I think 5 to 10 Koreans would be reasonable. If it's 5, I could definitely see a foreigner winning NASL. I think Tyler and Idra could knock out Koreans, maybe even Ret and Sjow could as well.

With 10 Koreans there would definitely be a Korean winner. That's why I think they'll limit it to 5 Koreans, to give the foreigners a chance to get to the podium.

that's not 100% true either, the vast majority of us that say koreans should be allowed because their the best, doesn't mean we ONLY want koreans in this tournament, we just want them to be represented in a fair amount also based on a fair system, not just some arbitrary 5 from korea. But that's off topic from this thread, lets keep it about the vods! woo OGS FIGHTING!

I don't think the Koreans have much of a chance getting in because they're Korean, not because of how good they are. I doubt there will be more than 5 Korean invites because more than that almost guarantees an all-Korean top 3 in the NASL.

With only 5 Koreans, I can definitely see foreigners at least getting somebody into the top 3, which would be a huge victory and result in a lot of pride for the foreign heroes who manage to beat Koreans.

You cant just say code a> US EU, but you cant say the opposite either, in general korean skill level is slightly higher right now weather that be code s or code a (there really isnt to much of a difference in skill level between the two these days) I think quite a few koreans will make it to the top 16 of the tournament if a reasonable amount are invited (10-15) i also think that within the top 16 it will be fairly even with only the korean superstars having a slight edge. You can look at idra and he is really good but there are players that are just 1 step above him in korea and thats where you can see the slight difference between westerners and the highets levels of code s/ code a

Fair would mean at least 45 koreans. It will never be "fair" and people will never be content, no matter what NASL decides.
But people should not forget that this is NASLs decision. Its their money that is on the line here, and they have to make a decision that they think is best for their business.

I think 5 Koreans is fine for NASL season 1. When NA/EU players get better, I could see it opening up to 10 Koreans once it becomes possibly for Koreans to be knocked out early.
