InControl et al. better be careful. He rags on everyone else but if they don't walk on eggshells and be willing to adapt as they go, this could totally implode. At least GOM had done BW tourneys before. I really with them the best and hope the Koreans will enjoy their experience. I don't doubt it though, because Xeris is the man and always runs great events.

On that note, maybe this tournament should have Korean commentary/broadcasters. What do you say, InControl and Xeris?

I think they should seriously consider expanding the field to 64/128.

They could try for Gisado

I think that would be an interesting idea. With this large number of Koreans who want to compete in the NASL, it may be a good idea to have a Korean broadcaster. GOM has opened an English stream for English/foreign fans, it may be good for the NASL to open a Korean stream for Korean fans.

However, given that the NASL is a startup. Money is always an issue and how they spend that money.

It's going to be quite a challenge to pick who gets to play in this league. I don't envy whoever has to make those decisions. Obviously ALL of the Koreans who have and might potentially still apply won't be getting in. That would barely leave room for any foreigners. But some are obvious ones, like NaDa, July and MC. And I'd think a few more than that should ideally be let in.

Something like 10-15 Korean invites would be good, I think. Any lower than that and you'd have to exclude too many who actually took the effort to make a video of themselves in a language they either don't speak at all or probably not very well, something they knew would be public. That's no small thing.

I would be interested to see that the Korean commentators think about NA/EU plays tbh even with only little comments by korean speakers during.

In the case of MC, he really has no one as his rival atm lol. MVP and Others are having trouble and July is not really MC level yet unless he wins this

I actually think that Jinro may be MC's rival.

They jsut need to have so more matches between them, the base is already there

Kind of disappointed MC didn't list Jinro as a rival. MC vs Jinro is a great rivalry. Shame there's no way they will both be in the NASL as its made for a good story both times they've met. The first time was a bit anticlimactic, but the second time was probably the greatest moment of that GSL. A little credit has to go to Artosis for that though. He went absolutely nuts when Jinro threw down his second factory and just built on it from there. He made it out to be this epic saga where the talented underdog (Jinro) has tried everything and is up against the wall about to be crushed by an unstoppable force of nature (MC) and at the last moment plays his final card to barely beat him. The fact that Jinro was famous for mech TvP in the beta made it like one of those cheesy martial arts movies where the protagonist calls on a special technique learned from his childhood/culture/village to defeat a seemingly unbeatable opponent.

I feel more than 10 is too much.
Just like in the Olympics some events would be a joke if they didn't cap on nationality.
I believe the same might be true for NASL.

I don't understand the argument that they should get in on sympathy, if that was the case everyone that made a video should get in really.

I hope NASL trolls idra and lets zenio in. This would be awesome especially since they're trying to build up rivalries and such.

I don't think Jinro has the dominating reputation to be MC's rival though. His wins over MC consisted of 2 extremely favorable map/positions and he really needs to win a championship to be up there.

I REALLY think they should consider expanding the pool to at least 64 if they want to make foreigner and korean fans happy.

wow, wow wow, so much hype now with the thoughts of nada and mc in there.

i don't want ALL korean's in there because it's more exciting to see TSL type foreign vs korean competition, but at least some would be awesome.

you want backstory? NaDa just app'd for your fucking tournament, there's your goddamned backstory of a player.
I now have autographs of both BoxeR and NaDa. I can die happy. Lim Yo Hwan and Lee Yun Yeol FIGHTING forever!

What's the total number of players applying so far? I counted 83 (without Koreans), is that about right? Or are there a bunch more missing? Cutting down 83+ to 50 is going to be a tough-ass job.

There is no way to make everyone happy.
I will be happy no matter what, but I will also definitely be disappointed at the same time.
There is no way they can put in all the players I want to see.

Expanding to 64 would wreck havoc on the entire format. Too late for something like that, still there would be awesome people missing the cut.

I wouldnt say so lol. Some of the applications really have no chance compared to the rest.
