All the replays is up there so you can watch for yourself. I missed his games myself so I can't give you more information other than that he was there.
Here is the link for replays http://www.esl-world.net/masters/season5/hanover/news/151972/

Europeans are in the same situation but they always respond in english. I think it's more of a case of most players being too shy. MC is the exception ofc! he doesn't afraid of anything. Learning English is much easier for Europeans, many European languages have similar roots that just make them more natural. That's my take on it anyway :/ Yep, this. English is much easier to learn for Europeans, just like Chinese is much easier to learn if you are Korean. Korean can speak good Chinese after just 1-2 years of learning, while most European have hard time to speak the basic after a few years in China. Or just look at Tastless and Artosis, they barely speak Korean after 2-3 years living in Korea full time. Actually, Chinese and Korean are not similar to each other. Their relationship is like between English and Latin. Korean language borrowed word roots from old chinese characters. but that's all. They have very very different grammar, sound system, and writing system. Chinese : S+V+O Korean : S+O+V, an agglutinative language
Grammar is easy to learn and not important when speaking. I live in China with alot of Koreans so I know, the vocabulary of Korean, Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese is just so similar. And Vocabulary is the most important part when you learn a new language.

Language is too different. It is very hard for east Asians to learn English, look at Japanes, Korean, and Chinese. They all can not speak good English, even though they learnt English for 5-10 years. For Europeans, it is much easy. Japaneese are exceptionally good at english actually.. relative to the other asian nations. Also, if you are somebody who will encounter a lot of people speaking english due to your job it should be quite normal to learn english.
I don't think Japanese are much better than Koreans in English overall. Japanese also have the one of the most difficult accents to understand when they're trying to speak English. "Mahgeudonarudo". Maybe you just ran into a lot of Japanese who received pretty extensive English educations for business purposes.

Judging by Squirtles PvZ today, Idra won't have to do something extra ordinary to win. Of course I'm sure he can play better with a nights sleep and such things but I would still say Idra is the slight favourite.

I will go out there and take a look at Squirtle PvZ, but I know that Idra had a hard time dealing with the Colossus-Pheonix Ball... Can't wait to see how he deals with it!
GO Idra! You single North American in the playoffs!

Western languages not only share the same alphabet, but same general sentence structure and pronunciation. Asian languages have different alphabets, but they speak sounds we never do, and never speak sounds we always do. Makes it inherently a lot harder for them than for Europeans to speak English.
(i think Europeans are exposed to it a lot more, and expected to be able to better at it too)

Companies require job seekers to have the ability to understand and speak English better than they asked before. So the importance of English in Korea (and Japan, as far as I know) is increasing annually. But there are so many differences between English and their Language.
While one is spoken in the far west europe, the other is spoken in the far east. it's no wonder that Korean people are uncomfortable with English.
