I understand that people would feel disappointed that MVP lost, but they shouldn't get pissed at July. Heck, I wish there was a way for MVP and July and MC to all advance, but that obviously couldn't happen.
As always, the haters have to whine about one opponent cheesing the other, as if early rushes or hidden plays aren't completely valid strategies- especially against the best player in the world.
There's absolutely no reason why July had to play a *respectable* 30 minute long macro game vs. MVP. You see an advantage, you take it. You think you can win, you do it. This is a tournament where money is on the line. July already has infinite respect from his Brood War days, and now he should have more for beating MVP. The ends justify the means when it comes to victory in SC2 (unless we're talking about straight up cheating, and we're not).
Yeah, I'm disappointed that the best player got knocked out. But I'm disappointed with MVP; I'm not going to blame his opponent for seizing any opportunity he could to win. That's just ridiculous. I'm sure MVP will kick ass next time.
Congratulations to July. And MC. Period. And good luck to both of them in the next round!
Oh and... poor hyperdub! =( thought he had a chance this time!
FE into baneling bust, MVP lifted his rax just as the banelings came, but it didn't matter that much because July was suprised and mismicroed them back allowing MVP to reland them. Still it allowed 2-3 more banelings in than if it hadn't happened. Mostly MVP just wasn't ready for the bust at all.
It actually did matter. As the raxx land, MvP started building techlabs/reactors. A single banelings blew up the wall and July sudently found himself with 4/5 banelings inside the base of MvP. So it was a pure lucky moment... That was some kind of ladder type cheesy all-in that would work 1 out of 10 times versus a normal player and 1 out of 50 times against MvP. He got that one... Hope he loses in the next round by a mile.
MvP could have played it safer/scouted better. If you don't expect cheese/non-standard play in a tiebreaker game where you are the huge favorite then your gamesense is lacking. His build left him vulnerable to that kind of strat, he's got only himself to blame.
Don't get me wrong, there's a bit of luck involved in every game and in every play, but blaming luck everytime a lesser player gets the win by playing agressively is silly, that would mean any kind of BO win/loss is pure luck.
In this case, it was not a matter of poor scouting or lack of gamesense. MvP even start building a bunker behind the wall. It just so happened the raxx were being lifted by the time the banes showed up. I'd hardly call that "a bit of luck".
I'm not claiming that bad luck took him out of the tournament. July outplayed MvP in the first game and decided to throw a step in the dark in game 2, which happened to work. It makes me sad to see a great player getting knocked out a tournament (which will not be the same, since July is not a title contender anyway) in such way.
What happened to IdrA? I haven't kept up the past few days and all of a sudden I see that he withdrew or something? He played fine against Jinro? What's up?

He left to play in the north american star league for starcraft 2.

Sure it was. He prepared for a later bust. If he had scouted no queens at main or expansion, he would probably have guessed - correctly - that the timing of the bust would be sooner.

Its still possible this season. MC looked rather strong last night, Nestea is still nestea, FD claims that hes going to practice hard during that one interview posted a few weeks ago.

July MUST have seen the robo bay, right?
So he knew MC would be watching everything he did.
And of course, mass overlords with the army is usually a dead giveaway -___-
Not to mention drops are difficult to execute quickly.
And overlords go down prettty quickly to stalkers...
So... I don't really understand =/
Its Zergs getting desperate. It would really only work, if your opponent is of significantly lesser skill than you.
Granted banes dont get bonus damage to stalkers and collosus, the P death ball is so clumped together that each bane is hitting at least 10 units if dropped in the middle of the ball, which is extremely cost effective. Also, because its instant damage it prolongs the life of your standing roach army because there are fewer things shooting at it. They are also really good at destroying mineral lines. Its a good strategy when executed well, MC is just a baller and july kept trying to fight in the narrow corridors.
