Not that the IEM guys are much better when they can't even bother to add their streams to the event on TL. yeah. well, to be fair, everyone's focus has been on jinro/idra, right? this is a collection of the best cs teams in the world afaik, not so with sc2. Let's be honest though, these are arguably the best players in Europe and regardless should not be ignored. Picking favorites when it comes to providing coverage for your community is just a terrible thing to do. EDIT: and you (not referring to you you) are pretty much saying that you do not care about anyone other than those playing in Korea.

10 T and 2 P in a 4 day event with 2 days having almost no matches deflates a lot of hype that could be there. Add to that the GSL semifinals which will obviously have more hype and this is what you get.

It feels really weird.
The quality of players for sc2 is pretty much on par with an MLG event (less numbers, but in terms of top-tier pros it is comparable), and the offline setup is clearly costly and well produced - and yet there has been hardly any hype or secondary and tertiary media (fans at the event, their photos interviews and such) .
I didnt even know this IEM was going on until it was mentioned at the homestory cup....thats completely unacceptable for a tournament of this magnitude I feel >.<

Maybe it's just that much harder to commentate a team game, but I feel like I'd enjoy CS so much more with SC2 casters.

I think the race distribution killed a lot of interest for the event.

Joe is about as top tier as it gets in esports commentary.
It is too fast paced to be witty or tell amusing stories and jokes - you have to be precise and fast and analytical as priority in a much more compressed period of time

In TeamLiquid's case I understand because they have no players competing in IEM but they still do it. Other news sites have no excuse for not covering it because "everyone's focus has been on jinro/idra, right?"

Any update on when the finals will be held?
The esl page isn't working for me and own3d isn't either.

Secondary and teriary media? You expect to be informed by TV comercial or what? I dont get it. We were informed about this happening just the same way as about the other tourneys, which was via tl and other sc web sites. Dont see how there was any difference.

It will take a while. After QL Finals, which take place after this CS Final which is on map 2 of 2/3. So I'd say at least 90-120min until SC2 finals start. Depends how long the other games take and how long the pauses are in between.

This seems a little like the chicken-egg question. Does nobody care because there is little coverage or is there little coverage because nobody cares.
ps: Demuslim should have made 2 banshees like 10 minutes ago.

I don't get why ESL isn't providing coverage/threads/streams themselves yet they mention TL all the time. The featured thread went up when the tournament already started. It just feels like something is "going to waste" since those events are pretty awesome. Curious how the coverage for the world finals will be given that it's right before TSL.

No, secondary and tertiary as in user generated, not primary media produced by the organizers.
Look at MLG Dallas and compare the 3-4 sets of interview by various non-official organizations, 2-3 photostreams by users, tons of forum posts, all ways of fans reporting back their thoughts and experiences after each day.
Here there seems no connection between community and event. I assume there is with goodgame.ru and the russian scene.

Any update on when the final will be? Between 20.00 and 22.00 doesn't seem to be too accurate .
|
Hm there were so many interviews here, more then I would ever care to watch lol. Maybe there were less posts on the TL thread, but I dont see how that should be of importance or influence my viewing experience.
|
Well, there is no such thing as accuracy regarding the times in this event. And the same question was asked like 5 posts ago...

Really nice patient play from DM. WP!
