I wasn't advocating pure marauder play. But if your opponent has any decent number of tanks, not getting marauders is just silly. They soak so much damage and take out the tanks so fast while protecting your own. It has been shown since the beta that marauder's mobility and strength against tanks will always mean they have a place in TvT if your opponent makes enough tanks.

Better players will tend to want to rely on a variety of unit control techniques rather than make marauders - the marauder is more of a brute force weapon
- stim and snipe when the tanks are transitioning between modes
- bait the anti air away from the tanks and drop 2-3 marines on a tank
- just straight up abuse the tanks immobility by killing his whole fucking base before he can kill yours (if he tries to rush and kill yours when he sees you dropping him, see #1)
