I feel sorry for MC ... I hope he bucks up after this. He seems young and maybe not that mature just yet in dealing with losses especially when he goes into games being a tad bit overconfident. I just hope he accepts the loss and fights harder in the future.

MC didn't use force fields in the first game versus Jinro when he attacked to block scvs from repairing the bunker. How can he make such a mistake when you know he is the fucking master of doing that (see game versus rainbow). Makes no sense.

Edit: I'm crying protoss tears but singing Swedish songs. Just so you know .

Any comments on this Jinro?

This one move almost cost you the game, and he forum exploded afterwards, but most people shrugged it off as "oh he just messed up this one time...." when force fielding is probably the most important freaking thing a protoss can do when attacking

It was a one gas stalker/zealot timing. That's why he just ran past the bunkers, but Jinro managed to trap him with the scv's. Or else he could hit'n'run forever

MC had 4 sentries, each with enough energy to force field around 2 times, but didn't drop a single one.

He seemed to have just lifted a tank, then stopped doing anything.

Maybe he realized he was going to lose the battle before he got around to use them and decided to save the energy? It was over pretty fast before he decided to back off. He did put up a few shields though. *dunno*

Ahah holy crap Jinro great job and thank you so much, I had a blast watching your games with my girlfriend! Before your first game against MC we were both like "oh God this could be so sad" but then you bloody did magics there! And with a build that I love (reminded me strongly of Avilo's mech builds from beta, am I right?) and that I thought was outdated!
And then in your last game...well did it again! I am so very happy for you

On the whole drama thing, I cannot understand what people are even talking about. It was a rather straightforward situation, Jinro went to MC and showed understanding and sportmanship, MC was devastated and very understandably so, but he certainly wasnt BMing or anything, he was even nodding at was Jinro was saying. I am sure anyone who has ever competed in anything has been in that situation, no?
It was just a show of human emotion, no shame or bad manners in that.

We all love you Jinro, keep doing what you are doing.

When you sit at at home throwing your hands up in the air after each game, shouting and hopefully waking your neigbour, you know that you are watching Jinro play GSL.

The thing is, that's what I did!

Questions to Jinro:
What was going through your head when MC did his 4 gatepush?

Were you confident to hold it or did you think it was the end of the game?

As Artosis said you didnt make ANY maraduer during your 2 games against MC. Did you have that in mind or did it just happned you didnt need them?

Cheers from Stockholm!

In big enough numbers, and with enough economy (or, if I dont scout them), carriers do REALLY well against mech.

NO, vikings do NOT hardcounter them, not with any kind of support (especially once P gets storm). Carriers actually have 10 range while attacking (the interceptors go further than the acquisition range) I believe.

Its not a bad choice, in practice games he has beaten me with the 2 stargate carrier switch several times. The biggest problem is his 3rd was slow, which vs mech it typically shouldnt be.

Jinro knows what he's talking about. Watch Jinro vs Axslav VOD in the TL link yesterday for proof. MC didn't have enough carriers / didn't have enough ground forces to smoothly transition into them. Axslav took an earlier third and had a nice ground army that he slowly transitioned into carriers with. MC's army was too small b/c he transitioned too soon. I think he was rattled b/c Jinro was holding his own and panicked and got them early.

The balance (not game, but battle balance) is very delicate. MC didn't have critical mass and a huge viking group was effective enough. If he had a critical mass the vikings would do almost nothing and MC would have won (again, see Jinro vs Axslav).

So these types of unit mixes weren't _that_ new to the two of you? I mean, you've played like this in practice as well?

But versus all those thors... The new patch would just suggest void rays versus thors and phoenix/carrier to take care of vikings. Though he did a terrible mistake and just clumped all phoenixes so they were one shot by all thors.

(I realize that the economy part was probably the major issue)

Couldn't watch the games live , but congrats for winning @Jinro!

Best thing would've been Jinro and MC advancing, but oh well, you cannot have it all -.-

MC really really overcommitted to phoenixes in both games, and thats gotta be a huge part of what went wrong. Its like getting way too many hellions....the unit just isn't that useful in large battles, especially if you make the mistake of letting them clump up against thors.

Thank you for pointing me to that game :D! I really hope the meta-game goes into that direction... Would make this game soooo much more enjoyable.

No, that's not at all correct.

The biggest problem was the economy in both games; he couldn't get up his third base in time. The phoenixes were useful in both games.

Finally watched all the games. To be honest, I'm not impressed my MC at all, as I feel he is a cheesy player. He's just abusing the Protoss FF mechanics, I don't feel that it takes much skill to execute. I'm very happy that he's eliminated; in fact, I was cheering so hard when Jinro won the 2nd game.
